"You are overthinking again."
After Ash said this, he took the hand Evelyn had just pulled away from his knee and placed it back there.
Evelyn first looked at their hands resting together on his knee, then lifted her gaze to Ash's gray eyes. When their eyes met, Ash's smile widened as he continued speaking.
"I mentioned it because our conversation was moving in a similar direction as it did back then. I believe you, about losing your memory."
He released their joined hands, lifted his hand to Evelyn's black hair, and tucked a few strands that had fallen over her eyes behind her ear.
"That's why I'm happy you remembered. If you could remember this, you might gradually remember your other memories too."
Evelyn looked into his eyes and saw the sincerity within them. She didn't think Ash would ever lie about something like this anyway, but seeing that honesty in those gray eyes felt comforting.
