They both went back to their desk, after about ten minutes Serena signaled Mrs. Olivia to go ahead as she mentally pray that the lazy Managing Director had not actually read through her project for real.
Mrs. Olivia sighed as she stood up from her seat and went over to the Managing Director's desk.
"Sir, I would like you to review my proposal and approve it." she said to him as she gave Serena a side glance.
Mrs. Olivia took the file and handed it over to him, Mr. Richard gave her a sharp look, "so, you are also desperate for a promotion, I see." he seems to be thinking.
He stretched his hands lazily as he accept the file from her and gave the file a deep irritated look, he glanced at the file cover for some time, Serena started praying desperately in her mind hoping he really would not recognize the project.
He raised a brow at the front cover as he flipped through some page hastily, before eventually pausing at a food image on one page, his gaze lingering on the page for a long period of time. There was a long pause.
Serena held her breath when she saw him staring at the page for a long time "maybe he had really read through the proposal after all" she thought, she was still deep in her thoughts when she heard a loud noise, she turned her head to the direction of the sound, lo and behold, she saw that her Managing Director had flung the proposal in the air and it had fallen to the ground making a loud noise, everybody in the office turned over to know the cause of the commotion.
Mr. Richard shouted at Mrs. Olivia "what kind of a proposal is this?" He roared at her.
Serena muttered a "Yes!" which the Managing Director heard as he turned to her "and what do you think you are doing there Miss Serena? This proposal is by far much better than the lousy proposal you had submitted." he said and muttered to himself "you should be preparing another proposal as your department is already due for a project submit."
Before he turned over to Mrs. Olivia and continued shouting at her.
But this time Serena was not paying attention to the things he was saying as she was mentally rejoicing within herself, indeed she had been correct, it was time to move on with the next plan she thought, Mrs. Olivia faced her to give her a acknowledging nod and she smiled in return.
"I'm sorry sir." Mrs. Olivia apologized.
"You should be sorry for your miserable self." He grumbled.
She turned to pick up the file he had earlier flung to the ground, as she went back to her seat.
When it was time for break Serena and Mrs. Olivia met at the top floor again,
"I'm so sorry you had to go through all that."
"That? It's fine I'm already use to it. So,what is your next plan? Now that you know for sure."
Serena narrated her plans to her as they both went over the plan, they decided they would set the plan on motion first thing tomorrow morning, before they both went back to their desk.
Serena attended a meeting for all the other team leaders for each department, the day ended in a pleasant mood as she went home, feeling light and accomplished.
She went upstairs to her room as she prepared for Ethan's visit, Kathy had called her that he was on his way although she was tired and exhausted she still had to take her measurements for the Art event .
She quickly showered and dressed up as she waited in her room for him, she drew open her wardrobe drawer and brought out a note, she quickly uncapped her pen and tick on a handwritten text that says 'Get Mrs. Olivia in on the plan.'
Once she was done with that, she went downstairs to keep her grandparents company, Ethan soon arrived along with two other ladies as they brought with them about seven different bags, she stared at them already exhausted and mentally unavailable but she still needs to push through with it because that was what she got herself into in the first place.
"Hi Serena, it's been so long haven't it? You don't ask of me?" He said as his shoulders dropped in despair.
"Come on Ethan, you know that's not true as we are both busy with work."
"But still… Ethan pouted at Serena's response but he still asked "How have you been?" Ethan asked her as he told the other ladies to drop the bags on the table, Ethan was a bubbling and easy going person, he was in fact one of her and Kathy's classmate back in college, they had all been close friends, he had also once had a crush on Serena.
" I heard from Kathy that you were invited to an event and needed the perfect dress?"
"That's right But I want something simple,as it is just a night event."
"No! No! That's won't do girl, do you even know what that event is all about?That's why you need to be the best dress, Kathy said the event is only attended by wealthy and influential people in the country,I doubt you will be able to stand out in just a simple dress, although I personally think you look breathtaking in anything." Ethan said as he winked at her.
Serena rolled her eyes at him as she finally glanced over at the bags they had brought.
"What's in those bags?" She asked confused.
Ethan suddenly gave a slow and wicked laugh as he replied,
"Those are the sample of the materials you would be wearing, we need you to select from one of them, he said as he scanned her from head to toe before turning to the ladies with a single nod from him, they brought out different colors of blue materials with different fabrics.
"Let's get it done then." Anything to get the man she wanted, she thought.
