Chapter 31 - Chapter 31: A Batch of Eggs

enny's efficiency was at full throttle, and the very next morning, Kawaki Breeding House received Pokémon Eggs provided by the Hoenn League.

Junsha Chun helped Kawaki move the eggs to the incubation room on the second floor of the Breeding House, which was equipped with specialized incubators—devices resembling bird nests that mimicked the nests of some bird Pokémon.

Kawaki had installed fifty of them during the previous renovation, and today, half of them were immediately put to use.

The Hoenn League had sent a total of 20 Pokémon Eggs.

The two of them placed them into the incubators together, and Junsha Chun said, "Alright, for now, the Hoenn League only has these suitable Pokémon Eggs, but they are aware of your situation. If they have enough Pokémon Eggs in the future, they will send more over."

"Thank you, Xiao Chun Jie," Kawaki said. After a night of deliberation, he felt that calling her "Miss Jenny" was too formal, but calling her "sister"... they weren't siblings. After much thought, this address seemed most fitting.

Junsha Chun paused slightly, then a smile bloomed on her face: "If you need anything later, you can always come to me."

It was clear that she was in a very good mood today.

Kawaki smiled, then extended an invitation: "My place has just opened, and there's nothing much I can offer to thank you for your help these past few days. If you don't mind, why don't you stay for lunch?"

Junsha Chun was very surprised: "You can cook?"

"Just learned," Kawaki replied, his expression unchanged.

Junsha Chun's smile grew even brighter: "In that case, I'll really look forward to it."

Saying so, she effectively accepted Kawaki's invitation.

Yesterday afternoon, Kawaki had Bewear take him to Fallarbor Town, where he bought some fresh ingredients, which would now come in handy.

At noon, Kawaki simply stir-fried a few dishes, and he, Bewear, Growlithe, and Junsha Chun sat around the dining table to eat together.

Looking at the dishes on the table, Junsha Chun was very surprised: "It seems you're not only talented in raising Pokémon, but also in cooking!"

Kawaki: "After all, from now on, I'll be living alone. Not just me, but Bewear and Growlithe too."

Junsha Chun understood. She picked up a slice of mushroom with her chopsticks and tasted it, finding the flavor surprisingly good.

"By the way, Kawaki," Junsha Chun looked at the young man opposite her and asked, "I have a question for you. Why weren't you willing to return to your family back then?"

Surely the Jenny Family was a better option than an orphanage, right?

Junsha Chun was very puzzled by this.

Kawaki: "..."

He also didn't know what the original owner was thinking.

After a moment of contemplation, Kawaki said, "Because this is where I've lived since I was little, and my parents are also in this place... So I don't want to leave."

In his memories, the original owner would return to the Breeding House every so often to look around; perhaps he genuinely couldn't bear to leave this place!

Junsha Chun nodded and didn't say anything further.

The two chatted while they ate, and after lunch, she bid farewell to Kawaki and rode her motorcycle back to Fallarbor Town.

Once Jenny had left, Kawaki went to the incubation room, his gaze sweeping over the twenty Pokémon Eggs before him, one by one.

Immediately after, information began to surface in Kawaki's mind.

["Lotad's Egg: A Pokémon Egg that can hatch a Water/Grass-type Pokémon, Lotad."]

["Health: Healthy"]

["Father: Ludicolo (Superior-level)"]

["Mother: Tropius (Superior-level)"]

"Lotad, huh... only Superior-level..."

Kawaki continued to look down.

["Skitty's Egg"], ["Poochyena's Egg"], ["Zigzagoon's Egg"], ["Wurmple's Egg"], ["Trapinch's Egg"], ["Cacnea's Egg"], ["Chimecho's Egg"], ["Wynaut's Egg"], ["Castform's Egg"]...

They were all very common Pokémon Eggs, many of them duplicates. The parents of the Pokémon inside the eggs were at most Gym Leader level; there were no Elite-level ones.

However, for wild Pokémon, these were already quite good.

Kawaki carefully scanned them; the incubation periods for these eggs mostly differed, ranging from two months to just a few days.

For the children living in the countryside of Fallarbor Town, these Pokémon Eggs were already a very good start.

It was much better than them risking significant dangers to catch wild Pokémon in the wilderness.

Now that the Pokémon Eggs had finally arrived, Kawaki immediately thought of the young man who had come to the Breeding House earlier, wanting to buy a starter Pokémon Egg.

The young man's name was Xiao Ye, and he particularly liked Dragon-type Pokémon.

The Breeding House didn't have Dragon-type Pokémon like Dratini or Dragonair, but among this batch of Pokémon Eggs, there was indeed one Pokémon with the Dragon type.

Trapinch.

Although Trapinch is only a Ground-type Pokémon during its initial stage, when it evolves into Vibrava and then Flygon, the Dragon type will be added to its attributes.

Uh... roughly speaking, it counts as a Dragon Pokémon, right?

It should be able to satisfy Xiao Ye's needs.

Thinking of this, Kawaki immediately took out the contact information Xiao Ye had left and dialed the number on the phone he had only recently installed.

Upon hearing that the Breeding House finally had unhatched Pokémon Eggs, Xiao Ye immediately rode his bicycle from Fallarbor Town and sped over.

"Boss!"

The excited young man pushed open the door of the Breeding House.

Kawaki was behind the counter, grooming Growlithe.

As soon as Xiao Ye entered, he noticed that the Breeding House had changed quite a bit since his last visit.

It was livelier here!

Last time, there were only the boss, Bewear, and Growlithe in the entire Breeding House, but now there were many more Clefairy!

Some were resting on the sofa, some were sweeping, and some were tending to the flowers on the windowsill.

So many Clefairy!

Xiao Ye was a little surprised. Were all of these the boss's Pokémon?

"Long time no see, Xiao Ye. This morning, the Breeding House received a new batch of Pokémon Eggs. I wonder if there's a Pokémon you like among them," Kawaki stopped grooming Growlithe.

"I want to see!" Xiao Ye said quickly.

Kawaki nodded and led Xiao Ye towards the incubation room. As soon as they entered, Xiao Ye saw the twenty unhatched Pokémon Eggs placed in the bird nest incubators.

"Wow! So many!"

There were too many to introduce one by one, so Kawaki thought for a moment and asked, "Do you have any requirements for your starter Pokémon?"

Xiao Ye: "I want a Dragon-type Pokémon! I really like Dragon Pokémon, they're so cool!"

Seeing this, Kawaki secretly thought, "As expected."

He walked to the Trapinch egg and introduced, "Among this batch of Pokémon Eggs, only one Pokémon meets your requirements."
