Chapter 34 - Chapter 34: Daigo

Stone. Steven.

As the heir to Devon Corporation and the eldest son of the Stone family, Steven, like other children, chose to become a Pokémon Trainer when he turned ten.

Today marked Steven's fifth month of travel.

In just four short months, he had already collected five Gym Badges and evolved his Beldum into a Metang.

After leaving Meteor Falls, Steven did not linger on the road. Calculating the time, if they continued on foot, it would likely be dark by the time they reached Fallarbor Town.

This was a common occurrence during his journey. Steven pondered for a moment and decided to continue.

As expected, by the time he was halfway through his journey, it was already evening.

Steven looked up at the sky and saw that it was almost dark.

"In that case, let's rest around here for tonight!"

They were still some distance from Fallarbor Town, but traveling at night was not very safe. Steven decided to wait until morning to continue.

Today, alliance technology had developed to a very advanced stage. The application of spatial technology in backpacks greatly facilitated Trainers traveling outdoors.

Just as Steven was about to set up camp, the Metang beside him suddenly flew forward, looking in one direction.

"What's wrong, Metang?"

Steven was slightly puzzled. He followed Metang's gaze.

Then, he saw a lit house by the roadside not far ahead.

That was…

Steven paused slightly, then walked forward with Metang. Soon, they saw a sign hanging on the door of the house.

The sign read "Open for Business."

And on one side of the door, there was a small blackboard listing the main services of the house.

[Breeding House Main Services]

[1. Pokémon Boarding]

[2. Currently Teachable Moves: Baby-Doll Eyes, Tackle, Sleep Powder, Swords Dance, Protect, Toxic, Odor Sleuth.]

[3. Egg Hatching: By boarding two Pokémon of the same Egg Group and different genders at the Breeding House, you can breed more excellent offspring through egg-laying.]

[4. Rare Item Transactions: Common Stone, Big Root.]

[5. Buying Large Quantities of Items: Moon Stone!]

[6. Food and Accommodation.]

"A Breeding House? A hotel?"

Steven did not need Pokémon breeding services, but this place seemed to also operate as a hotel on the side.

In any case, being able to sleep in a soft, comfortable bed was far more reassuring than sleeping in the wilderness filled with dangerous wild Pokémon.

Steven decisively pushed open the door of the Breeding House.

What greeted his eyes was a warmly decorated hall with a touch of cuteness.

The hall was lit, and a group of Clefairy were playing on the sofa meant for guests, while a Bewear was sweeping the floor with a broom.

The main door faced the counter, and behind the counter, a young man about his age was leaning back in a chair, engrossed in a book.

Beside the young man, on one side of the counter, a very young and energetic Growlithe lay Lying down.

Outside the window was an endless forest and wilderness shrouded in darkness, while inside the house was a completely opposite scene.

The young man living with a group of Pokémon…

Under the warm-toned lighting, the entire Breeding House exuded a reassuring and cozy atmosphere.

A guest has arrived!

Hearing the sound of the door opening, Kawaki immediately looked up.

But when he clearly saw the appearance of the person, he was momentarily stunned.

That unmistakable aura of a noble young master from a wealthy family, that handsome face, and that flowing silver hair…

Although the other party's face was still youthful, Kawaki recognized his identity at a glance.

It was none other than the Champion of the Hoenn region, Stone Steven!

Just not yet, though.

Kawaki noticed the Metang beside Steven.

So, this was Steven from the early days of his journey?

"Welcome! This is Kawaki's Breeding House, and also Bewear's Hotel!" Despite his internal confusion, Kawaki showed no expression on his face as he greeted the guest: "Are you here to board Pokémon or to stay?"

"Excuse me, I'd like to stay here for the night," Steven replied.

"So, you're staying," Kawaki pointed to the small blackboard on the counter and said, "The prices for food and accommodation are listed there. Please let me know if you need anything."

Steven looked up and saw some basic information written there.

[Bewear Hotel]

[5000 alliance coin/night]

[Bewear Restaurant currently offers: Ramen 800/bowl, White Porridge 300/bowl, Berry Juice 100/cup, Sandwich 500/serving, Pokémon Snack 500/serving, Moomoo Milk 600/cup, Egg Fried Rice 900/bowl]

"Hoo-hoo-hoo—"

Having stayed too long at Meteor Falls and then rushing all afternoon, Steven was indeed hungry.

As he was looking at the menu, the Clefairy that had been sitting on the sofa suddenly jumped off, ran to his side, and took off his travel backpack.

Steven was slightly taken aback.

"Please don't worry, this is a special feature of our shop, the Clefairy attendants. They will take your package to your room," Kawaki explained.

Steven understood. Pokémon were very intelligent creatures, and he had seen many Pokémon helping out in shops before.

He released his grip, handed the backpack to the two Clefairy, and watched their figures disappear at the staircase.

"The guest rooms are on the second floor, the first room to your right after going upstairs," Kawaki said after Steven paid.

Steven nodded, then ordered: "Please give me one bowl of ramen, one cup of Berry Juice, three cups of moomoo milk, and three servings of Pokémon food."

"No problem. My name is Kawaki, may I ask your name?" Kawaki asked.

"Steven."

As soon as Steven finished speaking, he saw two more Clefairy jump down from the group that had been sitting on the sofa.

"One bowl of ramen, one cup of Berry Juice, three cups of milk, and three Pokémon snacks," Kawaki repeated to them.

The two chef Clefairy happily nodded their heads: "Clefairy~!" They remembered!

Seeing this, Steven was slightly surprised. He watched the two Clefairy run towards the kitchen, and an incredible thought suddenly popped into his mind.

Could the chefs who were making the dishes he ordered be those two Clefairy?

Steven's face was filled with astonishment.

He turned to look at the young owner named Kawaki.

Kawaki smiled and said, "The Clefairy serve as assistants in my Breeding House. When I'm too busy or tired, they help with cooking."

"Are they your Pokémon?" Steven was a little surprised.

Not just because the Clefairy helped out, but because Clefairy were very rare Pokémon, almost never seen in the wild.

They lived deep in quiet mountains, and their numbers were extremely small. It was said that in some places, if someone casually brought them out to show off, they would be targeted by thieves who specialized in stealing Pokémon.

And now… there were so many Clefairy in this Breeding House!
