There was commotion in the area. The ground had turned dark red with blood. Everyone was shocked as much as Amaya was, but hers housed fear. What if she had entered into the road? What if she got hit instead? What if she never see her beautiful daughter again? Too many what ifs. On a second thought, she was meant to get hit. Because strange things had been happening to her lately, things that spoke death. It was as if her days were numbered.
No! No, she can't leave her baby now. Not now. The siren of the Ambulance pulled her away from her thoughts. She watched the people in chaos as they lifted the boy from the ground and placed him on the stretcher, covering his nose with the oxygen mask. Amaya's eyes moved along the crowd and it fell on someone. He looked calm as he watched the crowd. As if feeling someone's gaze on him, he looked at her and his golden eyes met her dark ones. Amaya's heart skipped a beat.
It's him! It's him!
He looked at her for a moment, and then turned around and walked away. Amaya kept her eyes on his back, her heart slamming against her chest. Soon her legs was moving and she was following him. His pace was a bit fast but she tried to keep up.
Ryan noticed he was being followed. He couldn't disappear now because they were people around and he didn't want to look suspicious.
"Stop!" he heard her say and that instant he stopped. His hands were still in his pockets, looking casual yet mysterious.
Ryan turned around slowly and looked at her.
"It was you" she said but Ryan kept mute. "It was you, wasn't it?"
Instead of getting an answer from him, he turned around, wanting to leave. That's enough answer she got. A person who knew nothing would be confused.
"Wait" she stopped him "Please...."
Ryan exhaled, turning towards her. What does she want from him?
"I wanted to thank you for saving us that day" Amaya said
Us? He could remember saving only her.
As if reading his thoughts, she said "Yes. Me and my unborn child"
Ryan lifted his eyes to her face. This was the first time in centuries someone thanked him wholeheartedly. But his face was still devoid of any emotions. His eyes moved and it fell on her neck. His brows creased when he saw the mark.
Amaya noticed his gaze on her neck and she figured he was staring at the mark.
"I got it after you saved us. What does it mean?" She asked.
Ryan looked away " I don't know" he said. Why does she have the mark? Could it be that she's connected to his bride? Because she can't be the one, she already has a child. Though the mark was already fading, he feels he'll find her soon.
"If you ever meet my daughter...." Amaya's words pulled him away from his thoughts and he looked at her. Tears were in her eyes and he wondered what made her sad. ".... please protect her" she completed.
What?! Protect someone whom he hasn't even met? What a joke.
Amaya gave a bow. Turning, she walked away, leaving him perplexed.
He watched her leave and when she was nowhere in sight, he walked away.
Amaya felt her days were numbered. So if this man was a guardian, then he should at least protect her baby of she eventually leaves. But she doesn't want to leave anytime soon.

"Ouch! That hurts!" Layana cried. She had bruised her forehead when her face struck the ground, and she suffered a little backache.
"Sorry princess" Zariel said as she cleaned the bruise. " If only you had listened to me"
"Take it easy. Why does hurt so much " she yelled.
"Shut up, Yana" Zayden snapped"You brought this upon yourself so stop yelling at the old lady " He was pissed right now. She's just so stubborn. Now what should he tell their father happen to her?
"But wait...." as if something hit her she asked " Why was he acting like that?"
"It's a call " Leonel spoke. That was the first time he spoke since he was in the room. His mind was somewhere else. What would young master do when he gets back? Usually, he would vent all his pain on them or only him.
"What call?" Layana was confused
"It always happens when humans cry for help" Zariel replied "It's a normal thing in this house"
Layana's eyes grew wide. She couldn't believe her ears.
"Don't tell me brother Ryan has been going through that for over four centuries"
Zariel nodded "He has"
Layana was shocked. She couldn't imagine how painful it is, but she know it really is. She pitied him, wishing she could take his place. But in a second thought she can't bear that pain. Ryan's way stronger than her.
The door creaked open and Ryan walked in. Everyone stared at him for a moment. Layana was stunned at his expression. He looked calm like he wasn't the one going through hell an hour ago.
"Young master" Leonel and Zariel greeted with their heads bowed.
Ryan's eyes scanned through them and when it fell on injured layana, he felt guilty.
"I'm sorry, Yana" he apologized. "I didn't mean to"
At first, Layana was mad. She wanted to beat him until she was satisfied. But seeing the pain he went through, she couldn't bring herself to be mad anymore.
"It's okay. I understand" she gave a smile
Ryan's eyes moved to Zayden
"Are you okay, brother?" Zayden asked
"Hmm. I'm okay" Ryan replied "You both leave before sundown. I don't want any of you getting hurt."
"But I want to stay much longer" Layana said with pouted lips.
Ryan clenched his teeth. Why doesn't she ever listen?
"You listen to me, Yana" he spoke through clenched teeth "You both leave or else.... you wouldn't like what I'll do" his tone was menacing.
Layana feared him. He was the strongest among all demons. His strength could even be compared to the ancients. With the way he's fuming with rage and pain, who knows what he'll do if she doesn't obey. All she did was nod.
"Good" Ryan said and then turned to Leonel "Follow me" he said and was out of the room.
Leonel gulped down hard. He couldn't tell if anything was wrong but he was scared to the core.
