'Your father never wanted you'
Those words had been on Arianna's mind for sometime now. Who the hell was that man? What on earth did she do wrong that made him not want her? He must be living a very pleasant life while she's here, alone. Without parents. At least her mother had stayed with her for eight years before she died. But that man....he didn't even spend a second.
Her tear glands were already betraying her as she fought not to let them drop. Her mind wasn't even in the plates she was washing, though her hands were doing the job.
She's twenty and yet she knows nothing about that moron. Well, it's not her fault. Her mother refused to tell her. Now who would she ask? Who was close to her mother back then?
Aunt So-hyeon. Yes, she'll ask her. She hurried with the plates, wiped her hands and went looking for her. Finding her sitting on a table and looking outside.
"Aunt So-hyeon" she called while sitting in front of her. "Can I ask you something?"
"Sure sure. Ask anything you want" So-hyeon said, her eyes never leaving the outside.
Arianna took a breather "Who is my father?" she asked.
So-hyeon froze. She wasn't expecting this. Her eyes turned slowly to Arianna in shock.
"What did you say?" she asked.
"I asked who my father was" Arianna repeated.
"Goodness Anna! Why would you ask that?"
"Don't I have the right to know?"
"You do but...."
"But what?" Arianna cut her off. She could feel tears brewing in her eyes. "I'm twenty aunt, and I don't know anything about him. Not even his name. I want to find him, look him in the face and ask why he never wanted me. I want to him and tell him that I still did great without him, even if I'm not somewhere big but at least I went to high school on my own. I just want to meet him once, so please....tell me who he is" Arianna was already crying and So-hyeon fought so hard to stop tears from brewing in her eyes as well. Now what would she do?
"Aunt please...tell me" Arianna pleaded
"Anna, I promised your mother not to tell you" So-hyeon said. She has to escape this.
"My mum's gone already" Arianna said "Don't worry when we go to the afterlife I'll beg her to forgive you for breaking your promise so tell me already" she spoke in one breath.
So-hyeon exhaled sharply. "You see.... He's so close to you. I mean, he's not far away but close, and he's the least you'll ever expect to be your father" she said.
Arianna's browsed creased. "He's around me?"
"Hmm" So-hyeon nodded
"Then who is he?" She asked.
So-hyeon leaned forward. "He's...." She blinked twice "Damnit, I can't believe you almost made me break my promise"
"But...."
"Goodness Anna, you're so curious" she frowned "That's all I can tell you now, go figure out on your own"
Figure out? How?! This hint is not enough!
"Leave now, Anna. You can take the rest of the day off"
Arianna mentally rolled her eyes. Isn't it just a name? What's so hard in spilling the beans?
"Fine!" She said as she went to change her work her clothes. After a while, she came out and headed for the exit door.
"When I find out, I'll come tell you, okay? Bye" she walked out
"Yes, bye" So-hyeon said underneath.
Arianna walked along the road and stopped by a park which people rarely visit. The cool breeze alone could make one sleep, but she has to think. She leaned on the bench and thought for a while.
In the middle of her thoughts she heard someone.
"Goodness! Isn't that Anna?" The voice came with a chuckle.
"Yeah, it's her" another said
"Let's go make today sweet"
Arianna looked at the three guys walking towards her. Her heart already in her stomach.
Bullies..... They're the least she wants to see now. Though they didn't bully her much in school, she never wanted to cross their path again. She stood up to leave but their leader was fast enough to grab her hand.
"Let me go" Arianna snapped
"Is that a good way to greet old time friends?" He smirked "Where do you think you're going?"
"Yah! Let me go"
"I really missed this" he said and the others laughed. "You know, I really didn't have your time back then in school, but now I have one"
Arianna shot him a glare as she struggled to release herself from his grip.
"Calm down Anna, I won't hurt you" he spoke slowly but intimidating and menacing. His grip was too tight that the only thing she could think of was to bite him and run away.
She bit him and he groaned in pain. She tried to run but one of them caught her hair which made her groan.
"Are you insane?" he yelled and gave her a slap which sent her falling with a thud. They both lifted her from all the ground and made her stand. Her cheek was already hurting, now she's done for.
Yohan chuckled "You bit me" he said and slapped her again, sending her face flying to the other side. The other two holding her in place. Arianna could have sworn she saw stars.
"You dare bit me!" He punched her in her belly and she cried out in pain. He hasn't even started yet. She knows him, he's heartless and he beat people until they look lifeless. Her cheeks burned, her stomach hurts and tears welled in her eyes.
Yohan laughed. He was liking the scene. Seeing the tears in Arianna's eyes, he tried to look sympathetic.
"Oh Anna, I'm sorry I didn't mean to hurt you" he said in the most sympathetic tone. Arianna's brows creased.
Was he apologizing? Or were her ears messing with her?
