Chapter 31 - Spice of Life: Carrot Edition

Super Block Man: "I've already built the portal, @Freezing Cold. I'll send Zambo over to help you," Ian typed in the group chat.

Freezing Cold: "Zambo? You mean that Smart Zombie? He's not carrying a virus, is he? And won't his appearance scare people?" Molly asked with some concern.

Super Block Man: "Relax, they're not contagious. And I'll modify their appearance a bit—no one will even realize they're zombies unless you tell them," Ian replied mysteriously.

Super Block Man: "You'll see what I mean soon enough."

Closing the chat interface, Ian used the Void Ring to teleport directly to Zambo's location in the Zombie World.

At that moment, Zambo was commanding his underlings and clones to construct an underwater tunnel. He had seen on the news that zombie outbreaks had erupted in both the US and Japan.

The US was too far away, but the Japan was close enough. He and his crew were digging the tunnel with precision and efficiency. At their current speed, they'd reach Japan within a few days.

The moment Zambo sensed Ian's arrival, he dropped to one knee. "Master, you called for me?"

Ian nodded and waved for him to stand. "You don't need to kneel every time you see me. And stop calling me 'Master.' Just Boss."

"I have a friend whose world has entered a Frozen Apocalypse," Ian explained. "They're struggling with refugee rescue and post-disaster reconstruction, so I was thinking—"

Before he could finish, Zambo interrupted eagerly. "Boss, I am a professional at refugee rescue and post-disaster reconstruction. That's my area of expertise! Please entrust this task to me."

"Oh? You're a zombie—how do you even know how to do that?"

"Boss, I haven't been slacking lately. I've been studying!" To prove it, Zambo pulled out a thick stack of books from behind his back.

Ian blinked repeatedly. Zambo was holding titles like Advanced Design Concepts, The Architect's Mindset, Modern Construction Artistry, and Ancient Architecture.

"Wow, those are some serious books," Ian muttered, impressed despite himself. He had to admit, his underling was making him feel a bit lazy.

The reason Zambo studied architecture was obvious: he'd witnessed Ian's... questionable luxury matchbox villa.

To ease his boss's burdens and improve his living standards—that was the sacred path of a loyal underling!

Seeing how hardworking Zambo was, Ian decided to reward him. Who would get mad about a subordinate being too competent? That's like a boss complaining that an employee works too hard!

He tossed him a Soul Stone. "Try this and see if it helps you. You mentioned your control over zombies works through mental power, right? This might strengthen it."

Zambo caught the gem, his eyes gleaming with excitement. He could feel the immense energy swirling inside—it would definitely make him stronger!

Without hesitation, he pressed the stone to his chest. Moments later, his head snapped up, his voice trembling with exhilaration. "Boss! I—I can control twice as many zombies now!"

"Oh? Twice as many? So only about ten thousand more?" Ian raised an eyebrow, sounding slightly unimpressed.

"How about it? Think you can handle more?" he asked.

"Boss, no problem at all! I can handle plenty more!" Zambo thumped his chest confidently.

Even if he couldn't handle it, he'd force himself to. Opportunities to grow stronger like this didn't come twice!

Ian pulled out a pile of Soul Stones and started hanging them one by one around Zambo's neck. By the time he reached the fiftieth stone, Zambo waved his hands frantically.

"Stop, stop, stop! Boss, that's enough—I'm about to explode!"

He hurriedly removed one of the stones to stabilize himself. His control limit had just hit five hundred thousand zombies—his current maximum.

Feeling the raw, surging energy within him, Zambo nearly passed out from happiness. He was so powerful now!

"How many can you control?" Ian asked.

"Five hundred thousand, Boss! I can control five hundred thousand zombies!" Zambo shouted hoarsely, his voice cracking with emotion.

Even more surprising was his transformation—his rotten skin had become smooth, almost lifelike. He was still pale, but otherwise indistinguishable from a normal person.

Not that he cared much about his looks—it just made him look a little more like his boss.

"Five hundred thousand, huh…" Ian rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "That'll do."

Half a million zombies with partial Minecraft player abilities, all linked to one mind… If each had a good pickaxe, they could probably dig straight through the Earth in a week.

And as for construction? They could build a small nation from scratch in under a month.

"Perfect for post-disaster reconstruction," Ian said with satisfaction.

He snapped his fingers and equipped Zambo with a full set of Red Matter Armor—the strongest gear he could currently handle. As for the zombie clones under his command, they received golden armor sets.

"Alright, take your clones, grab the wheat seeds and crafting tables, and head to Molly's world. Help her deal with the apocalypse," Ian ordered.

"Yes, Boss!" Zambo bowed deeply before turning to leave.

Ian reopened the group chat and messaged Molly.

Super Block Man: "@Freezing Cold, I've sent my underling Zambo with five hundred thousand zombies to assist your world," Ian wrote.

Super Block Man: "Each zombie possesses a portion of my abilities—they can build, mine, and use tools."

Super Block Man: "They also have crafting tables and a large amount of wheat seeds. Zambo knows how to use everything, so I'll leave the rest to you."

Freezing Cold: "Five hundred thousand?! And they can build?! That's… that's insanely strong!" Molly replied, stunned.

Super Block Man: "Haha, I'll leave it in your hands," Ian said.

Super Block Man: "I trust you'll handle it well."

After settling things with Molly, Ian turned his attention to the Frozen World's mod potential.

Just then, the Transmutation Tablet displayed a new message:

[Ding... It is discovered that the energy from the Frozen World and the energy from the Scorching World are Interdimensional Energy of the same origin, which can be fused to form a higher-tier mod.]

"Oh? Fusion between same-origin energies?" Ian's eyes lit up. "Didn't know that was possible!"

"Fuse."

[Ding... Scorching World Energy Value is insufficient. Fusion failed.]

"Tch, fine," Ian sighed. He can teleport to the Scorching Apocalypse and Starving Platform worlds, placing four energy collectors in each to speed up absorption.

At the current rate, the Scorching World would be ready in less than two days—and the Starving Platform about the same.

Two days later, the energy was collected. Ian merged the Frozen and Scorching World energies, unlocking a new, yet-to-be-identified mod. Together with the one from the Starving Platform, he now had two to open.

"Which one should I start with?" he mused, rubbing his chin.

"Eh, I'll start with the Starving Platform one. Better to save the rare fusion mod for later."

Decision made, he activated it.

[Ding! Congratulations! You've obtained the mod: Spice of Life: Carrot Edition!]

"Jackpot!" Ian laughed. This mod's original purpose was to encourage players to cook and eat different foods, increasing the game's fun factor. Eating a certain number of unique dishes would permanently raise the player's max health.

However, because it often appeared alongside other food mods, its bonuses tended to stack excessively, leading many modpacks to nerf it.

Ian didn't remember the original settings exactly, but this version granted +1 Heart (2 HP) for every five different foods consumed.

In the game, that was slightly overpowered. But in reality? It was completely broken.

After all, reality offered countless unique foods—and with Ian's access to infinite worlds through the group chat, he had infinite cuisine to sample. Sooner or later, his health bar would reach infinity.

"Let's start small," he grinned. "Goal: one hundred million HP."

"The first mod's already this powerful! Alright, let's see what the same-origin fusion mod's got in store!"
