Fiona stepped out once again with a cup of tea.
Not that I have any complaints that they have welcomed themselves already in this villa, as long as they know their limitation.
Melissa sipped from her cup, sighed contentedly, and put down the cup once again.
"He has none."
I just finished my porridge when she answered my question.
"Drinks, food, medicine, or anything. He has none," she elaborated.
I smiled, "I see. I guess I wouldn't need to think about it."
"Anyway," she started again.
I looked at her just as Fiona handed me a glass of water and medicine.
"I want to thank you. You did not ask for anything and just went all out in saving Karina. You even fell sick because of it."
"Don't mention it. Plus, I fell sick because I was pushing myself too hard these past few days. My body was just telling me to get some rest."
Melissa smiled at me, a bit gently, if I might add.
Not used to this tone from a stranger, I could just excuse myself for a cup of coffee.
"Can I learn? What do you like drinking?"
I turned to Fiona, a bit stunned.
I am not used to people serving me since I was a problem child, and when I was still living in this villa, we barely had servants serving us.
And when I was abroad, I was alone.
"Well, if you wish. I mostly make different coffees learned from coffee shops, so I have no particular ingredient with the coffee I am making," I replied as I started making a café latte.
Fiona nodded her head and just watched me make my coffee. If she wanted to, then she would learn one way or another. I have no desire to teach her or anything. I don't have the time for that.
...
While Lilith was making her coffee, Melissa was having a thought of her own.
She had heard about Kieran's marriage, and she, too, was surprised, not only because he got married.
But also because no one knew about it when, in the past, most of those women and their families would come to one of them to get close to Kieran.
Her words a while ago were the truth, because Lilith did not approach anyone and had acted on her own, even making Kieran agree to her.
A smile spread across Melissa's lips as she looked at the kitchen door. A change is happening.
...
After making coffee, I went back to the dining area where Melissa sat with poise and elegance.
Maybe I should learn from her posture?
If I remember correctly, Mom was the same. She had this poise that makes one think of a lady in a royal setting or something.
I shook my head at this thought. Then I walked over and sat opposite her again.
"Sorry about that. I just need my dose of coffee," I said.
Melissa shook her head, "It is fine. It is time for me to leave as well. Once again, thank you for putting in the effort to help Karina."
I stood up and walked her to the door.
"Take care on your way," I said genuinely.
She smiled again and left.
Just as I returned to my seat, my phone rang.
It was none other than Richard.
"The chairwoman took a break. Is there a problem?" I asked the moment I answered.
"I am just wondering since we have no news from you. It would be great if someone were made aware, so that we don't need to worry."
"Are you implying that I needed an assistant who would tell you my schedule?" I went straight to the point.
These people love going in circles. Aren't they getting tired of having to speak more?
"Well, that would be better. There are a lot of capable people in the company. Just say it, and I will send them to you."
I scoffed before sipping from my cup.
"You don't have to worry, Mister Vice President. Someone will assist me. I'll bring her with me tomorrow upon my return."
"Someone from the outside?"
There was obvious disbelief in his tone.
I laughed, "Who else?"
"You can't do that. Even if you are the chairwoman, bringing someone from the outside. Are you insane? You are the chairwoman, and what you hold is the power over the corporation-"
"Mister Vice President, you really don't have to worry. Don't you trust your chairwoman?" I interrupted.
"LILITH!!!!"
"Oh, come on, are we going in circles here? Do you really think you can control me the way Riven allowed you?"
"Stop this already before I lose my patience with you."
"Then lose it. Go on. I won't stop you."
The more impatient you are, the more likely you are to make a misstep.
Others might think that I am being too hasty, but with my strength, I know I will be fine.
Because what I am capable of is something not one in the entirety of the Kingsley Family was capable of.
The end-of-call tone followed.
I clicked my tongue. He did not let me finish.
I was planning on saying that there would be a meeting tomorrow.
I plan on finishing all those files today in the villa, then having the most-awaited meeting tomorrow morning.
A smile spread across my lips at the thought of this. I guess it is time to face yet another boring face-off with the rest of my relatives.
It is time to tell the company that the chairwoman was not just some temporary leader. I have irritated them enough. Now it is time to bring it to new heights.
