The evidence of civilisation disappeared as the forest dominated the landscape. The more they travelled, the denser the trees became to the point that their eyes saw silhouettes as darkness consumed the evening.
"Uhh–Bo. How far are we from arriving?" Bobbi asked, hand clutching his thigh in fear.
"Yeah, are you taking us to a cabin or something?" Faith joined in, recording the passing trees for a story later.
"I'd usually say this is a perfect spot for a ritual... but I'm getting spooked by this Sanders," Jane stated, eyes on the road lit by the headlights.
"We're almost there. Don't tell me you're scared of the forest. " He teased.
"Some of us aren't lumberjack babies and enjoy j*rking off in the woods." Bobbi jabbed.
"Whoa–that's really offensive, you know?"
"You're not denying it~" Jane chuckled.
"Pfft–yeah right like that's gonna stop her from repeating it."
"True."
Bo turned onto a path that led off-road, the dirt road was narrow, and one mishap from crashing into thick trees.
"Hold on, it's going to get bumpy." He warned.
The car buckled under the rough surface, the takeout bag spilt on the floor, cups clattering, and the comedic scene of Faith and Jane shifting left to right as the duo long ago unfastened their seat belts.
"Bbbbb–Bo...slow down damn it!" Jane stuttered in her predicament.
"Should've kept your seat belt on."
"You'll regret this."
"Bo, please stop. My headphones are sensitive. " Faith whined, holding onto Jane for dear life.
To their dismay, he continued the drive. The road ahead was even less suitable for driving as he drove over ditches and fallen twigs. After 30 minutes of hazardous terrain, the road became stable, and the two in the back could finally maintain their centre of gravity.
The path was clear as walkway railings appeared, and a lakeside cabin was visible opposite the lake glittering under the moonlight. The cabin was an aesthetic structure crafted to maximise comfort and stability.
"We have arrived. " Bo said, eyes glued to the wooden building.
"Don't tell me you're getting a hard on?"
"Don't ruin this moment, Jane."
The bunch got out of the car and immediately darted into the cabin, deserting Bo to get the luggage. "Unbelievable. " He muttered to himself.
Entering the cabin, the girls were greeted by a Pinterest-worthy interior, a stone-built fireplace in the living room, decorated by three couches, and a giant rug under the polished wooden table. A staircase was attached to the wall that separated the kitchen area. The entrance to the kitchen had a dinner table with 8 seats, underneath a chandelier that cost more than Bobbi's rent, the kitchen island was minimalistic and hearty. A gas stove with an older kettle that whistled when heated. The cabinets were all wooden and smelled like sandalwood (Bo approved).
"This is amazing. " Faith gawked
"Keep staring Freckles." Jane encouraged as she tiptoed upstairs.
Bobbi, clocking her play, moved with purpose, "Don't you dare take the best bed, Vamp."
The two clashed halfway upstairs, Bobbi pinned her to the wall, "I get to choose first. "
"Does it really matter since we're all gonna swarm Bo?" Jane reasoned with her.
"Mxm, whatever. " Bobbi released her and moved to find the master bedroom.
"Bossy Redhead," Jane muttered.
Bo shuffled inside as he placed the luggage in the living room, "Great to see I'm the designated bag boy."
"Bo, when you're done, come take my pictures. " Faith called as she posed by the fireplace.
"Sure, Faith. "
As they settled in, Bobbi was making sandwiches as Bo packed ingredients in a cooler box, Jane was sipping directly out of a wine bottle as she swayed to a Frank Sinatra song. "This is the life, Bobbi. A perfect spot with a semi-perfect man."
Bobbi chuckled, slicing the ham, "You really getting drunk the first night?"
"Yes, I'm going to christen this house properly ~"
"Eww–Way to ruin my appetite. "
"You can join."
"I'm not into that stuff Jane."
"Ohhh –You didn't say that, the time we kissed–"
"That was one time and you were drunk!" Bobbi slammed the slice of bread to complete the sandwich.
"Sure~ I was. And you just happened to fondle my ass in the process. "
"Oh my God Jane, can we not talk about this?" Bobbi gritted through her blooming blush.
"So, are you in or not?"
"Huhh...One round and no tongue kissing."
"Yesss!" Jane squealed as she hugged her. "You don't mind neck bites?"
"Sure, unless you want a fist to the throat."
"I love you~"
Bo and Faith entered the kitchen and immediately noticed how Jane and Bobbi hushed and moved to plate the sandwiches.
"Everything alright?" Bo questioned with a sceptical look.
"Yes." They responded.
Faith looking at them could sense their intentions, turning to Bo, she locked fingers with him and led him to the dinner table. "Let's eat Bo, you're going to be my muse for my next painting. "
"Oh–Baby Red seems to be adapting. " Jane said with pride.
"Let's just eat ok." Bobbi relented, moving to plate the food.
The first night was off to an interesting start.
