Chapter 30 - Hiking and afternoon swim

Nature trail | 8AM

To think that the same forest which gave them an eerie feeling last night would also be the cause of their enthusiasm this morning.

"Girls, don't wander off too far, nature is still as dangerous as it is beautiful. " Bo advised.

The trail was spacious, rich with plant life that ranged from wild flowers to peeking mushrooms on branches and pesky insects at each corner.

"Bo, why are we exploring the forest if it's not to find a ritual spot?" Jane asked hunched over a tree. "This is not an experience suited for an immortal. "

"Don't you want to see deer and potentially wolves?"

"You had me at Bambi."

Bo glanced at Bobbi who was keeping up with him, her miniature frame holding the utility bag like an eager kid at camp.

"Stop looking at me like an idiot and make sure Faith doesn't wander off the trail." She scalded.

"Yes, mom." Bo saluted as he moved back to retrieve the furthest hiker who happened to be admiring the native flora.

"Bo, look at how beautiful they are." She gawked, gently stroking the petals of a reddish-orange flower with white spots on the petals. "These are way better than the flowers at Mrs Grace's shop."

"The florist who smells like pumpkin lattes every day?" Jane joked. "That lady reminds me of my grandma before she saw my transformation..."

"She never knew her granddaughter was a prick?" Bobbi replied, smirk visible.

"Of course not...some of us don't want our Nana to hate us."

"Whatever you say, Jane."

Jane strolled over to Bobbi, hips swaying at each step to entice Bo and once she was in range of her friend, she locked arms with her as she pulled her down the trail.

"What are you doing?"

"We need to talk Red~" She purred, leading Bobbi to a secluded spot for who knows what.

"Should I be worried?" Bo asked, watching two-thirds of his woman moving further into the trail.

"Don't worry about them, Jane loves theatrics...and actual chaos. Did you let her bring the hex book?"

"Uhmm–Yes."

"You're so screwed Bo." Faith shook her head in disappointment. "I'll honour your legacy by wearing out every outfit," she said as she hugged him tightly, sniffing his neck to remember his scent.

"Faith, what are you doing?"

"Shhh–Let me have this moment. "She hushed him, pressing their faces together as the awkward hug continued.

Later in the day after a somewhat successful hike in which they did not encounter wildlife but at least Jane found a ritual spot...a win is a win. As the afternoon heat settled on their skin and the wind was filled with clean air that soothed their lungs. The bunch decided to take a swim in the lake. Jane was the first to splash in, and she did a graceful dip into the water which shocked the others who never thought her rugged nature could perform such elegance.

"Since when could you do that?" Bobbi asked in awe.

"I used to swim during Middle school, was really a competitive kid before the metamorphosis happened. "

"You mean the day you traded sneakers for chunky war boots?" Bobbi swung her legs on the pier.

"Yes, a great investment ~"

"Faith was next to her sister, painting the landscape as the scenic view was too breathtaking to capture on film alone.

"This is honestly the most beautiful thing I've ever seen."

"Same, might top your prom dress."

"Pfft, as if." She chuckled, painting the forest that shaped the lake. "Are you really ok with this? I mean dating the same guy as Jane is one thing..."

"It's weird honestly, but seeing you happy is worth it," Bobbi reassured her. "It's also a good thing damn near perfect at everything...especially...after hours."

"Bobbi! Don't ruin this bonding moment with your Bo boning review. " Faith shrieked.

"Sorry freckles, you'll see for yourself. "

"That's not a normal thing to say."

"We've been abnormal since we took in Jane."

"Hey, why did I catch a stray?" The mentioned goth, swam over to them."My presence is a blessing people, a blessing!" She boasted before pulling Bobbi by the ankle into the water.

"Splash!"

"Jane. I'll kill you for that." She stated, with drenched hair clinging to her body.

"You'd have to catch me first~" she swam away.

"Get back here!" She swam after her.

Faith giggled at their shenanigans, turning to see Bo walking over to her in swimming trunks and three towels. "Why aren't you in the water freckles?" He asked, mischief present in his eyes.

"I'm busy sketching Bo. I'll swim later." She said as a blush was warming her face. "D-Don't try anything funny ok..." she blurted out, pointing the brush at him like a weapon.

Bo was still grinning as he got closer, kneeled over her, foreheads a touch away could feel her rapid breathing and blooming freckles.

"Bo, stop teasing me." She whined, eyes focused on his lips.

He leaned closer, angling his face so that their lips could meet. Faith gave in as she also tilted her head to meet his mouth. As their lips were a second from contact...he pulled away.

"W-what–why did you stop?" She questioned, face heating up from the build and anticlimactic ending. "This isn't funny Bo, you shouldn't be playing with my fragile heart like this." She huffed, standing up, collecting her supplies. "I see only Jane and get treated like a woman by–"

Her words died in her mind as Bo pressed his lips to hers in a gentle kiss, his hand hooked her waist closer to him. After the initial shock, Faith gave in to the kiss, wrapping her arms around his neck, their bodies connected as the kiss deepened.

"Mhmm~Bo." She moaned into the kiss, eyes fluttering shut. The two stayed like that, consuming each other's mouths as everything around them was blocked out.

After a few minutes of non-stop French kissing, he pulled out, letting each other calm down from the heated moment.

"D-Dang freckles...didn't know you're such a good kiss." He chuckled, catching his breath.

"Bo...let's do it again," she demanded through fogged eyes, nails lightly digging into his nape.

"Faith–"

"Don't think you're the only greedy one here Bo, a girl needs love too~"

"You go Faith! Show this man how tonguing is really done." Jane cheered her on.

"Jane, could you not?" Bobbi snapped, her blush prominent from seeing a different side of her little sister."You're a real bastard Bo." She muttered.

Faith ignored them and solely focused on him, "So...well continuing?" She teased.

Bo gulped softly, "S-Sure thing love."

"Good~"
