Chapter 22: Fight Club
Once, a philosopher said that those who clean are the ones with the lowest tolerance for dirt and mess.
Exactly which philosopher said it is no longer known.
It's even debatable whether the person who said this was a philosopher at all.
But Chris, who was currently working, deeply agreed with this statement and held it as a guiding principle.
It was only because he couldn't stand the dirty and messy environment of his home that he started cleaning.
Usually, Lois was the one who did this.
But after Chris came out of Stewie's room, he only saw Peter returning with his Quahog crew and didn't see Lois.
So Chris helped entertain Peter's friends.
It wasn't until Chris finished tidying up the house and went out to throw away the trash that he saw Lois driving back, looking relaxed.
Lois obviously saw Chris helping with the housework too. After parking her car, she smiled and said, "Oh, my dear little meatball has grown up! He already knows how to help mommy with chores."
Chris, who had just finished throwing away the trash, froze for a moment, then shivered.
Such a Lois was truly frightening. Would he have nightmares tonight?
Seeing Lois about to hug him, Chris quickly diverted her attention.
"I just finished cleaning, and I'm covered in germs, so you'd better not touch me."
This indeed worked. As soon as Chris finished speaking, Lois stopped, then said with a look of distaste, "Then hurry up and take a shower. Mommy won't hug you."
"I was just about to go!" Chris pointed to the trash he had just thrown away, indicating that he was about to take a shower.
Then the two walked into the house together, and Chris casually asked, "By the way, what were you doing just now? You've been gone for a while."
Lois, who was changing her shoes, stiffened for a moment, then said nonchalantly, "A friend of mine was passing through town and invited me to catch up."
"Oh, I see!" Chris noticed Lois's unnatural expression, but since it had nothing to do with him, he ignored it.
However, Chris had no idea how much this matter actually concerned him.
Due to her previous misunderstanding, Lois had thought Chris wasn't Peter's child. After anxiously calculating the dates and realizing something was off, she drove straight to the hospital.
It wasn't until she found and checked Chris's birth certificate from that year that Lois finally breathed a sigh of relief.
It showed that Chris was indeed Peter's child. At least according to Lois's memory, she had only been intimate with Peter during the time she conceived Chris.
Therefore, there wouldn't be a second option.
Otherwise, Lois really wouldn't know how to face Peter.
For the next period, Chris stayed at home, waiting for Stewie to build the machine and then completely solve his problem.
However, early the next morning, Chris received a message from his buddy, Hank.
Opening the video Hank sent on his computer, Chris initially thought it would be some kind of inappropriate video and was preparing to mock him.
But after opening the video, he realized he had overthought it; the other party had sent a boxing video, specifically an underground bare-knuckle boxing video.
In the footage, two burly men exchanged heavy blows, their faces bruised and swollen, covered in blood.
One look told you these two were tough guys among tough guys, and the boxing match was the most brutal underground bare-knuckle boxing.
After watching the entire video, Chris messaged Hank, asking, "Where is this? Are you there?"
After sending the message, Chris quietly waited for Hank's reply.
Chris wasn't actually interested in the mutual beating of two ordinary strong men in the video.
After his desperate struggle with the Creeper, such a scene, which would make ordinary people's blood boil, was just so-so for Chris.
It was like people who had been on a real battlefield; after the ravages of war, their emotional systems were already different from ordinary people living in peaceful environments.
If it was severe, scenes like those in 'First Blood' might even occur.
But fortunately, Chris was from another world, and the very process of arriving here had already, to some extent, changed his emotional system.
So, merely a death match with a monster wasn't enough to turn him into Rambo.
The reason he was curious about the fighting location in the video was simply because he still remembered Joe's advice.
He indeed wanted to learn some fighting techniques.
Originally, Joe was a good candidate, but unfortunately, he was a police officer and a paraplegic.
The first point indicated that Joe was unlikely to teach Chris true combat techniques; he would most likely only teach him some defensive, life-saving stuff.
Killer moves, aimed at taking lives, might not even be shown to Chris.
Actually, Chris didn't care if killer moves weren't taught; the key was the second point.
Because Joe was paraplegic, he couldn't practically teach Chris things about footwork, which might affect Chris's fighting style.
If Chris truly only wanted to learn some fighting techniques to protect himself, as Joe believed, it wouldn't be a big deal.
In this world, which on the surface had no monsters, the biggest danger Chris encountered was firearms.
Ordinary fights could be handled with Chris's strength and basic techniques, but against someone with a gun, he couldn't win or escape.
So, whether he had good footwork or not made little difference.
But Joe didn't know that Chris would passively travel to other worlds, where he might encounter some unavoidable enemies.
And fighting those monsters without good footwork would make him a sitting duck.
Although Stewie said his current recovery ability already surpassed humans, and even if half his head was gone, he could recover by eating.
But ultimately, he hadn't reached the immortal and indestructible level of Jason Voorhees, had he?
So, since he was going to learn fighting techniques, he should naturally learn complete and comprehensive ones.
What kind of sense does it make to only learn half?
As Chris inwardly grumbled about Joe's limitations, Hank's message came through.
"Boss, this is the Fight Club. I'm actually here. Do you want to come too?"
Hearing that name, Chris's heart trembled, hoping it wasn't what he thought.
He looked at the address Hank immediately sent afterwards and found it wasn't far from his home, only six miles away.
Considering his running speed, Chris replied to Hank, "See you in ten minutes."
After a day of enhancement, Chris's strength had more than doubled, and his speed and stamina also soared.
According to Stewie, this was because the protein powder made his body mistakenly believe it had reached a high-energy environment, causing the Creeper's life essence to be absorbed at full power.
That's why he became so much stronger so quickly.
However, Stewie also said that this was his current limit, until he obtained truly high-energy food.
Chris's strength, speed, and stamina would remain as they were now. Even if he had more untapped potential, his body would not get stronger in the current environment.
This was what Stewie referred to as malnutrition.
But even in a state of malnutrition, Chris's normal strength had broken through one ton, reaching a level of 2,700 pounds.
His speed also soared to 58 miles per hour, comparable to some birds of prey.
As for stamina, he could run at full speed for two days and two nights.
With such terrifying physical stats, it was no wonder Stewie said he had entered the extraordinary realm.
And this was still in a state of malnutrition. If he had developed normally and fully, Chris couldn't imagine what level his physique would reach.
He also wondered if he could go head-to-head with a Marvel superhero?
