The scene shifted again before my eyes.
When I opened them, I saw Darius sitting above Aria, a knife pressed to her neck as she slept soundly.
Aria's eyes shot open in panic.
"Move a bit, and I'll slice that gentle neck of yours," Darius warned, pressing the blade closer.
"What? Why are you—" Aria tried to speak, but he pressed harder.
"Say a word, and you'll die."
At that, Aria kicked her leg up—hard.
"Ouch!!! Woman, what are you doing?! Are you trying to end my entire lifeline?!" he yelped in pain.
"I'm not sure if I want to kill your entire lifeline, but I do want to kill you," she shot back, glaring.
"I told Uncle keeping this man here would only bring trouble! Look at this—he tries to kill the woman who saved his life instead of saying thank you!" Aria said, rubbing her forehead in frustration.
"You… saved my life?" Darius asked, as if suddenly realizing something.
