Chapter 35 - Sit Tight

That leader of the Ark Gang, Reyna.

If she wasn't corrupted by Tzeentch, then she must have a screw loose.

Alexander made this judgment before he even walked out of the Ark Gang's main gate.

Her biggest problem was that deeply flawed plan.

Even if she truly built a ship capable of Warp travel and safely reached the Baal Star System, still...

But that's Baal, the home world of the Blood Angels, and the target of the entire Leviathan hive Fleet.

To take Baal, the Great Devourer was even willing to some extent to disregard the loss of biomass.

This was all because the Tyranid's true goal was the corpse of Sanguinius, the Primarch of the Blood Angels.

They wanted to obtain Sanguinius' gene sequence.

And Khorne's daemon legions, drawn by the war and the Angels' progeny, also rushed over to join the fun.

In the Battle of Baal, Baal and its two moons were laid waste.

Not to mention ordinary humans, even the Blood Angels suffered losses of nine out of ten.

Reyna was merely jumping from one frying pan into another.

Oh, by then Reyna wouldn't have to worry about any of this.

On her way to Baal, she'd likely burn her brain to ashes just trying to maintain the Geller Field.

However, although Alexander didn't support her brilliant plan,

He had to admit, she was rich.

If he didn't swindle some money from this rich idiot, Alexander felt he couldn't live with himself. It wouldn't align with his lofty moral standards!

Thinking this, Alexander pushed open the door and entered the Spear Tavern.

One-Eye, who was facing away from the door and tidying the counter, turned his head.

Seeing it was Alexander, he poured him a drink from the counter, then turned back to continue tidying.

Alexander had fought Reyna and then wasted half a day talking to her; his throat was uncomfortably dry.

While One-Eye was turned away, he picked up the glass and slipped it into his four-dimensional pocket.

After confirming that One-Eye hadn't added any narcotics or similar substances, Alexander raised the glass and drank it all.

"Where's that Lager fellow?" Alexander asked One-Eye after finishing his drink.

"Still snoring in the back room," One-Eye replied.

A strange look appeared in Alexander's eyes. He was still asleep?

"Is your anesthetic that strong?"

"That idiot woke up in the back room, saw you'd already left, and got depressed. He insisted on having a drink."

One-Eye finished tidying the counter, turned, and sat across from Alexander.

"I thought the bottle with the anesthetic shouldn't go to waste, so I sold it to him again."

"And he drank it without noticing anything?" Alexander's eye twitched, and he said with some surprise.

One-Eye made a helpless expression: "He's just that kind of brain."

"What a genius..." Alexander couldn't help but shake his head.

Lager, that fool, probably had a sleep quality today that rivaled his own usual one.

Unless he was carsick, Alexander's sleep quality had always been excellent.

"How did your business go? Bottom Nest or other major districts? Which one are you going to?"

One-Eye shrugged, poured himself a drink, and said,

"Your drink is on me. Consider it a farewell drink between brothers."

"I want to go to the Upper hive," Alexander said calmly.

One-Eye almost spat out his drink.

"How about I arrange for you to go to the Top hive?"

One-Eye pointed at Alexander's face and said,

"Or how about I just send you directly to Holy Terra?"

"You can even arrange for me to go to Holy Terra? That's great."

Alexander grinned, feigning surprise, and said,

"You know, I've always been a devout follower of the Emperor, hoping to make a pilgrimage to Terra."

"It would be even better if you could also give me a three-bedroom apartment on Terra."

"Alright, how about a spire next to the Imperial Palace?" One-Eye couldn't help but laugh heartily.

"I think that Imperial Palace is pretty good," Alexander chuckled.

Hearing this, One-Eye's expression suddenly became serious, "That statement of yours is a bit blasphemous, I suspect."

"Indeed blasphemous. Are you planning to make my father move out and give that position to you?" Sanguinius nodded.

Alexander also nodded in agreement, indicating that what he had just said was indeed a bit excessive.

After all, kicking a paralyzed, comatose old father out of his own home was truly too much.

Alexander took a sip of the crimson liquid in his glass and looked at One-Eye, saying,

"I met the Ark Gang's boss. She... isn't very bright, but she's not the person I thought she was."

"It's normal for illegal psyker to not be very bright," One-Eye said, not surprised. "So you're not running away?"

"What a pity, I missed out on another sum of money—remember to pay for your drink later."

Saying this, One-Eye rubbed his fingers together, indicating that this drink was not on him.

Alexander smiled, finished the drink in his glass, and said, "Really? That stingy?"

"I have a big business deal for you..."

"Your tone sounds a bit like Lager. Did he infect you?" One-Eye tapped the table and said.

Yes, I've been corrupted by the Warp Chaos God Lager, Alexander thought to himself.

"I need two passes to the Upper hive."

Hearing Alexander's words, One-Eye paused slightly, then shook his head:

"Can't be done."

"You can definitely do it. Your superior is a noble lord from the Top hive." Alexander waved his hand, signaling One-Eye to pour him another drink.

One-Eye poured him another glass of the stomach-strengthening Bottom Nest special.

"Money is not an issue, any amount will do."

Alexander took the glass from One-Eye's hand and said with a smile.

Anyway, Reyna was paying, and he was just taking a cut from the middle.

He'd take fifty percent for starters.

One-Eye didn't seem surprised that Alexander had guessed his superior was from the Top hive.

"I don't want money."

That won't do. If you don't take money, how can I take a cut? Alexander didn't say his true thoughts aloud.

If she doesn't take it, how can she take it?

If she doesn't take it, how can Agent Alexander take it?

If Agent Alexander doesn't take it, how can everyone progress!

"I want Ignes. Kalkas' notebook," One-Eye stared at Alexander and said.

"Alright!" Alexander reacted quickly, immediately putting on a wronged expression: "You! You actually suspect I pocketed that notebook?"

"What use would I have for that thing? What, do I really like reading poetry collections?"

Alexander said indignantly:

"One word: No! I didn't find it!"

"If you don't believe me, search my home, search me, search wherever you want! If you find it, my soul won't go to the Golden Throne when I die."

"With that blasphemous mouth of yours, you wouldn't go to the Golden Throne when you die anyway."

One-Eye couldn't help but shake his head:

"The Emperor teaches us to be honest, but you, like Lager, can't learn that."

"But the Emperor also teaches us to trust... I'll trust you this once."

One-Eye continued:

"Passes to the Upper hive... Alright, I'll ask my superiors."

"Come back tomorrow, and I'll tell you if it can be done."
