The class teacher enters the room with some documents in her hand. As she reaches the announcing table, she bangs the documents on it with a loud thud!
She's definitely in a bad mood. With her annoyed face, I can only think: Does she have her periods?I don't know, but I do know one thing—don't provoke her.
"So, for the Intermediate University Chess Games, there was only a single name as a participant, and it was Rahul."The teacher announces this.
I was feeling sleepy, but the moment I heard that, my sleep flew away.
"What!?" I said, trying not to panic.
Everyone in class looked at me, clearly convinced that I was crazy enough to participate in a university chess competition.
"And for your kind information, Mr. Rahul, the date of cancellation passed away three days ago. So you have to attend that competition, and remember that you are representing our college."The class teacher said this with a straight face.
"What! I don't know anything about this competition, and I didn't fill any kind of form for it, ma'am!"I got up from my seat and spoke in a panicked voice. Since the cancellation date passed three days ago, I had no way to get out of this now.
"Alright, Mr. Rahul, if you have any questions about the competition, then meet me after college.Only if you have any questions. Now I'm starting today's lecture, which is about—"
I fell back into my seat and let out a big sigh.
"Haah… what should I do…" I mumbled to myself.
When class ended, I followed the class teacher to the staff room. I didn't plan to wait the whole day.As I entered, I saw her sitting comfortably on a chair—relaxed, even after dropping a bombshell on me.
"Why did you do that, teacher?" I asked.
"How did you come to the conclusion that I'm the one who filled your form? Can you explain that to me?" she replied.
"If any student filled my form as a prank, they would need my personal information. But there's no chance anyone knows that except teachers. Even if another teacher filled the form, it would need your approval. So there's no chance for anyone except you, teacher."
"Good. But not accurate. Sorry, I'm not the one who did this."
"What!?" I said, shocked.
"That person thinks too highly of you. But for me… I'm disappointed," the teacher said.
I looked down.I knew exactly who did this.He is the final boss—the one with the authority to select or remove participants.…Or maybe I was overthinking. But probably not.
"You may leave now. We can't help you in this. You have to participate in the competition, for better or worse."
"Okay, I got my answers. And it seems like you are on your periods. I don't want you to get more pissed off, so I'm taking my leave," I said.
As I approached the exit, I looked back and asked,
"When is the competition?"
"Exactly a week from today."
"Okay, teacher. Have a nice day."
As I left the staff room and walked toward the classroom, I remembered playing chess with my friends in school. That memory put a small smile on my face.I miss them too much.
When I looked inside the classroom, the teacher had already started teaching.I stayed outside, thinking about what I should do.
