"What are you even talking about"
Damian said his face scrunched.
"We're leaving" he repeated, pointing his thumb behind himself.
"Just listen."
POV: Donnie
After finishing the mundane humans and leaving one alive for interrogation, Donnie looked to the piled up bodies of the innocents.
families destroyed, their faces carried the terror they felt in their last breaths.
A little more angry than he was before, Donnie
smashed his hand into the face of the man, breaking his nose and waking him up.
"What were you doing here? Why are you feeding the floor?" At first the man smiled, showing his teeth stained by his own blood.
the smile didn't last long when Donnie held a knife to his private areas.
"Their are fates worse than death. A knife going through here has to be one of them. And I promise to be slow if you don't start speaking"
The man suddenly seemed like he saw a ghost, before recomposing himself. "Fine fine fine. It would be boring if you didn't know what was going to kill you anyway."
"This forest has been taken over by the only piece left of the great demon vantriel."
Donnie was half shocked and half in disbelief.
Vantriel was one of the few great demons to force themselves into the real world alongside the demon king himself.
essentially the more powerful a demon is, the harder it is for them to enter the real world. All demons need is an unholy place or a battlefield to enter. So they defile and destroy to have more of a stronghold in reality.
But at a certain point it becomes increasingly harder for demons to enter as they increase in strength and gain more influence over hell.
the demon king probably wasn't even the strongest demon, but he was the strongest one who made his foothold in reality.
300 years ago he launched a violent crusade against mankind. Destroying many kingdoms.
But thankfully a man an gold and silver armor came, along with him, the princess of the elves and their respective armies, they defeated him. But the demon king had 4 generals and he was one of them.
and now apparently a piece of this menace is still in the physical realm. Unnoticed by the church who would destroy it and now his rot has summoned his cult.
"He has been speaking to us. Demanding we bring sacrifices. Soon enough he will be powerful enough to build a body again. And slowly gain power in this world unnoticed."
But Donnie saw a simple solution.
"Well that's not happening. We'll just leave and Tell the church to send someone important to blow through this forest."
The man looked at him as if he was mentally inept. "You…Leave!?" He began laughing uncontrollably. he probably would have thrown his head back if it wasn't already on the floor.
With a slap delivered to his face his mood soured. "Look, the forest is angry because we didn't deliver on time, courtesy of yourself."
"And it warned us of what happened should we not deliver. odd are the forest is already blocked off. I know you've felt it. The way the ground moves. The forest has been alive for a while now. It's an appendage connected to the mind of something that isn't human."
"Get to the point." Donnie was getting an ominous feeling. "It's not going to feed on them, in the stead of those already dead, It will be us."
the ground began rumbling near them.
"Your best bet is to find the shard or destroy it, but let's be honest, you'll die." Donnie was done with that conversation and jumped away from him.
looking back, the man was surprised . suddenly vines with glowing red veins on them erupted around him, some wrapping around his torso and dragging him into the other vines that were in the shape of a giant maw, lined with sharp teeth.
With a mix of crunches and sloshes his life ended. Donnie couldn't tell though. He was sprinting. Grabbing a twig, he ran towards the pile of bodies, rubbing it against a tree until said stick caught on fire.
He then threw it into them. Making sure to burn the bodies. After all it it's already decided to trap and kill everyone why give it extra food?
with that he began running.
POV: Chase
"So our only chance is to kill it." He was crushed internally. Maybe he should have warned them about his dream. Maybe they would have a chance to run in the middle of the other battle..
Looking at the remaining members of the group they weren't taking this the best.
Damian had a grim look on his face. "Then so be it. Well kill the thing, no way I go out like this!"
Andrew: "I'm on a similar page. I'd rather fight it than wallow in pity"
It seemed like confidence, but really it was spite. And Chase was on that same wavelength. This thing wasn't going to get them. And if it did….it won't.
'I'm not gonna let the idea of losing permeate my thoughts' with that chase only had one question.
"Where is this monster?"
