It was already evening. Junior officers and new recruits were all sitting in circles outside with bonfires in their centers and flickering across their faces.
Most of them were drinking, and passing cups around, while others were speaking in low, tense voices about the unknown attack.
In another corner and away from the crowds, West, Reynold, Evan, Niya, Lyra, Nymeria, and Nyx sat together.
"Maybe it's just the golems that attacked them," West said as his shoulders dropped and he stared in to the bonfire.
Reynold and Evan were tossing small stones in to the fire with the sparks going up every time the stone landed.
"No," Niya said as she shook her head. "They said it is unknown."
"Yeah, but may be it is the golems," West muttered again, rubbing the back of his neck. "They probably just called it unknown so people would not panic."
"Or maybe they really don't know what it is." Nymeria said as she shifted a little.
