Chapter 9 - Wang Dong: “Tch! Scumbag!”

"Senior sister, haven't you noticed? The closer the distance, the better the cultivation effect."

Bai Zhou spoke with a perfectly serious expression as he quickly leaned closer to Tang Ya. The two sat cross-legged, their knees completely touching.

But because of their knees blocking the way, that was as close as they could get — which made Bai Zhou quite disappointed.

"Fi… fine…"

Tang Ya realized they couldn't get any closer. Though a bit shy, she accepted Bai Zhou's explanation.

After all, the closer she was, the more clearly her martial soul could sense the Blue Silver Emperor, and the more obvious the strange transformation became.

However, Bai Zhou wasn't satisfied with just that distance.

Taking advantage of the moment when Tang Ya entered deep meditation, he shifted his hips slightly and quietly moved behind her, then leaned forward…

"You… what are you trying to do now…"

Tang Ya quickly sensed something wrong. She withdrew from meditation and turned her head—only to find Bai Zhou's handsome face right in front of her.

"Ah—!"

Tang Ya yelped, almost toppling backward.

Fortunately, Bai Zhou reacted fast, wrapping his arm around Tang Ya's slender waist and pulling her directly into his embrace.

"Senior sister, focus on cultivating."

Bai Zhou still wore a serious face, acting as if he was genuinely instructing cultivation.

"How am I supposed to focus like this!!"

Tang Ya broke free from his hold, teeth gritted. Bai Zhou was way too shameless—blatantly taking advantage of her! Men really were big pigs!Even though she thought that, Tang Ya didn't realize that she only felt embarrassed and angry—but not a trace of disgust toward him.

Bai Zhou noticed this, which was why he dared to test her boundaries so boldly.

"Generally speaking, the first cultivation session has the best results, Senior Sister. You don't want to waste this opportunity—it might never be this effective again."

Bai Zhou pressed Tang Ya's shoulders and turned her around, smoothly changing the subject.

"Fine then… just stay there and don't move!!"

Tang Ya bit her lip and gave a quiet warning.

She actually thought Bai Zhou was right. The first cultivation session's effect was indeed the strongest—the mutation of her martial soul was clearer than ever, a sensation she had never experienced before.

"I have to get stronger. I must take revenge! I must restore Tang Sect's glory!"

Finally, the pressure in her heart turned into determination. She threw away distractions and entered deep meditation once more.

Bai Zhou kept his eyes half-open, only lightly meditating to assist Tang Ya's cultivation.

Most of his spirit power came from the Wishing System anyway—just two or three wishes were enough for him to reach level 30 spirit power.

However, Bai Zhou thought that since spirit power could be cultivated normally, it was more worthwhile to use his daily wish chance on treasures instead—he didn't want to waste even one.

What he wanted most now was a mental cultivation technique—to train his spiritual power—and he was saving his luck for the next ten-pull draw.

Pushing aside idle thoughts, Bai Zhou turned his attention to Tang Ya.

Her smooth black ponytail gleamed softly; her pale, delicate neck was faintly visible. Bai Zhou almost couldn't resist the urge to reach out and tug at that silky hair…

Tang Ya's earlobes were slightly red, crystal-like and translucent, almost like tiny rubies—tempting enough to make one want to take a bite.

Her faint floral scent drifted into Bai Zhou's nose, holding a unique charm that kept stirring his hormones and teasing his mind.

But now wasn't the time. If he went too far, Tang Ya might never come to cultivate with him again.

"Bei Bei's really a blockhead—he doesn't understand Tang Ya's heart at all." Bai Zhou sighed inwardly.

Bei Bei's affection for Tang Ya was genuine, but he didn't understand what she truly wanted.

That ignorance was exactly why Tang Ya later left without a word, fell into darkness, sought revenge on her own, and was eventually manipulated by evil soul masters.

What Tang Ya wanted most wasn't sweet romance—it was power. Revenge.

Bei Bei could have helped her easily. If he had just begged Mu En once, with Mu En's connections, he could have wiped out her enemies in an instant. But Bei Bei didn't, and Mu En didn't either.

That led to tragedy.

Perhaps Mu En thought Tang Ya had no more value…

Even the Inner Court's senior sister Zhang Lexuan was a tragedy, though hers was the opposite case.

Zhang Lexuan's parents were killed too, and she was saved by Mu En. Unlike Tang Ya, Mu En deemed her valuable—so in exchange for making her Bei Bei's fiancée, he personally annihilated all her enemies, ruthlessly and without mercy.

Because of that, Zhang Lexuan was tightly bound to Shrek Academy—to Bei Bei—for life.

"Since you all don't cherish them, don't blame me for stepping in." Bai Zhou chuckled inwardly.

Bei Bei was a fool who didn't understand Tang Ya's heart.

Mu En thought Tang Ya was already Bei Bei's woman and thus not worth acting for. He let her suffer alone, calling it 'tempering'…

The night passed quietly.

Time flew by, and soon morning arrived.

Tang Ya slowly awoke from meditation, feeling a deep comfort throughout her body—more relaxed than ever before.

Then she suddenly noticed the familiar scent at the tip of her nose, and…

"Ah—!"

Tang Ya cried out, quickly breaking free from Bai Zhou's arms.

"Y-you… I-I…"

Tongue-tied, Tang Ya hurriedly checked herself. After confirming she wasn't hurt or in pain, she finally relaxed a little.

"Senior sister, you were the one who leaned into my arms. I tried to push you away, but you wouldn't budge—so you can't blame me."

Bai Zhou spread his hands innocently. He wasn't lying.

Perhaps Tang Ya had gotten too absorbed in cultivation, plus the Blue Silver Emperor's attraction—she truly had leaned into his embrace on her own, even wearing a content expression. He couldn't push her away no matter how he tried…

So Bai Zhou had been "forced" to accept it, quite helplessly.

"I-I… I didn't mean to…"

Tang Ya finally regained her senses and instantly remembered the strange dream she had last night.

In that dream, she had entered a world full of Blue Silver Grass, surrounded by countless strands.

The noble Blue Silver Emperor had invited her, and then she hugged the soft Blue Silver Emperor and fell asleep.

Now that she thought about it—that wasn't the Blue Silver Emperor, it was Bai Zhou, that bad guy!

Tang Ya's face flushed scarlet; she wished she could dig a hole and disappear.

So embarrassing…

But she couldn't deny it—hugging the Blue Silver Emperor had felt… very comfortable…

"Alright, alright, Senior Sister, I can feel your spirit power has increased a lot. How do you feel?"

Bai Zhou quickly changed the subject to save her from further embarrassment.

Tang Ya blinked, then focused inward to check her condition. In the next moment—

"My spirit power… increased by two levels!!"

Tang Ya shouted in surprise and joy, throwing herself at Bai Zhou in excitement, hugging him tightly.

"Cough, cough—Senior Sister, a bit tight…"

Bai Zhou twitched his nose and coughed lightly—he hadn't expected to be ambushed like that.

"Ah—sorry, sorry! I didn't mean to, I just got too excited…"

Tang Ya's cheeks were still rosy; she was genuinely overjoyed.

Just a few days ago, she had barely reached level 31, becoming a Soul Elder. After reaching that stage, she noticed her cultivation speed plummeting. Even training in the academy's simulated environment didn't help much.

She knew her talent had reached its limit. Before Soul Elder, hard work and rare materials could compensate for poor aptitude, but after that—it all depended on talent.

Without enough talent, progress became exponentially harder.

Fortunately, she met Bai Zhou, who possessed the Blue Silver Emperor. Grasping this opportunity, she managed to raise two full levels in one night!

Of course, she knew this sudden boost could only happen once—the first cultivation was unique—but the accelerated effect still remained.

If she cultivated with Bai Zhou daily, she might even catch up to Bei Bei someday. More importantly, she was one step closer to avenging her parents.

"Congratulations, Senior Sister. But since classes start today, I should get going. Tonight, I'll treat you to dinner to celebrate."

Bai Zhou clasped his hands and congratulated her earnestly.

"How could I let you treat me? My improvement is all thanks to you, Little Bai Junior Brother. Tonight, Senior Sister will treat you instead—big feast!"

Tang Ya laughed brightly, patting Bai Zhou on the shoulder. Her address changed to "Little Bai Junior Brother," instantly showing more closeness.

"Alright then, see you tonight. I'll head off first."

Bai Zhou smiled slightly and left the cultivation room first.

"This little guy really is my lucky star…"

Tang Ya watched Bai Zhou's departing figure, the corners of her eyes curving upward. The more she looked, the more she liked him.

Bai Zhou checked the time—it was 6 a.m., still early. Classes started at eight.

When he returned to the dorm, Wang Dong was still fast asleep.

"Mmm… Where did you go last night? You didn't come back at all."

Sensing Bai Zhou's return, Wang Dong poked his head out, eyes half-open, looking displeased.

Bai Zhou disappeared right after dinner; Wang Dong couldn't find him anywhere. Annoying! He even wanted to ask Bai Zhou for a few bottles of cola…

"I went to talk with Senior Sister." Bai Zhou replied casually, summoning his martial soul and conjuring a basket of steaming soup dumplings and fresh milk, placing them on Wang Dong's nightstand.

"Talk with Senior Sister…"

Wang Dong immediately got the wrong idea. He spat lightly and snapped, "Tch, scumbag! You're so young, and already going to that kind of place! Shameless!"

"What do you mean that kind of place? You're misunderstanding!" Bai Zhou's face darkened.

"Hmph! Scumbag, scumbag, scumbag! Tch!"

After saying that, Wang Dong dove back under the covers, sulking.

For some reason, his heart hurt a little. He didn't even feel like eating breakfast anymore…

He hadn't expected Bai Zhou to be that kind of person—first day of school and already indulging himself!

"You totally got it wrong! Come out here and explain what you mean!" Bai Zhou's mouth twitched—he knew he'd been misunderstood again.

He didn't deny he was a scumbag—but not that kind! For Wang Dong to accuse him like that… utterly outrageous!
