Chapter 34 - Mysterious Craftsman

Golden Champagne Avenue, Baron's Mansion, study.

"...The detailed process is as follows."

Lex used this sentence to conclude his 'report'.

After seeing the Inspectors off to the Police Station, he returned home, had lunch, and then went to the study with his parents to recount his morning discoveries.

Bison looked solemn, habitually running a hand through his thinning hair: "I didn't expect there to be such a connection between those few murders and the missing persons in the Town."

"No wonder when I used that thing's blood for divination before, I was always interfered with and couldn't get a specific location," his mother Amelia sighed, "It turns out there's a God involved in this; that monster named 'Gore' is probably being watched by an evil God."

"It was protected, which is why my divination couldn't yield the desired results."

Lex looked at his mother: "What kind of God is that, exactly?"

Amelia shook her head: "Besides the Seven Gods, there are many evil Gods in this world who wish to descend upon the mortal realm.

Based solely on those descriptions, it's very difficult to confirm their identity."

Bison offered a suggestion: "Can't you divine the God's identity through the monster's blood?"

Amelia smiled: "That would expose me to the evil God's gaze.

I might lose control or go mad on the spot."

"That serious? I'm sorry, I didn't think it would be like that."

Bison was greatly surprised.

Amelia looked at Lex: "You must remember, child.

From now on, as you delve deeper into the mystical world, you must be especially careful in matters involving Gods."

"Do not easily expose yourself to Their gaze, and you must not look directly at Them."

"Cannot look directly at Gods?"

Lex nodded, "I've remembered."

Bison spread his hands and said: "In any case, our family should try not to get involved in this matter.

Let those three Inspectors handle it."

"Lex, you've been busy all morning, and you must be tired.

Go back to your room and rest."

"Alright."

Lex agreed, exited the study, and returned to his temporary bedroom.

After dismissing his personal valet, Lex slightly drew the curtains to make his room as private as possible, then he raised both hands level and chanted the incantation.

"Eye that sees everything."

"God that Oversees All Things."

As the last incantation was completed, Lex saw that the colors of various objects in the room deepened, like vivid color blocks in an oil painting.

He saw the curtains, stirred by the wind, become motionless, and the dust in front of him stop dancing.

He subconsciously lowered his gaze, and then a Light outlined the upper part of his vision, after which a thick, ethereal tome, glowing with iridescent light, descended onto his hands.

Feeling the weight, Lex suddenly noticed that one of the seven symbols on the cover, located below the eye, had become clear at some point.

This symbol was a cube, and at its center, patterns of swords, shields, books, gloves, firearms, staves, and other items appeared and disappeared in sequence, repeating in a cycle.

Has the 'mysterious book' unlocked a new function?

Lex quickly opened the cover, and saw the pages turn by themselves.

When they stopped, he saw a yellowish page, like parchment, with faint grayish-white patterns resembling creases.

The first line of the page displayed unprecedented information.

dimensional crystal: 32 pieces

Record: Your adventure biography has received a reward from a Dimensional Reader, granting you 1 or more dimensional crystals.

You have met the conditions to lift the usage restrictions of 'Artisan of Mysteries'.

Artisan of Mysteries? What is this?

Lex continued to read down.

'Mountains and seas thinks you have a lot of potential and rewarded 1000 dimensional coins, which have been automatically converted into 10 dimensional crystals.'

'Faceless Man hopes you can continue to work hard and rewarded 600 dimensional coins, which have been automatically converted into 6 dimensional crystals.'

'No. 20170818032705561 told you to keep it up and rewarded 100 dimensional coins, which have been automatically converted into 1 dimensional crystal.'

It can be like this? The Observers rewarded my adventure biography, allowing me to unlock a new function of the 'Mysterious Book' and obtain dimensional crystals.

Indeed, the attention of 'readers' can influence this world; they are almost like Gods!

Lex continued to read down.

'JokerClown thinks Klein Moretti is amazing and rewarded 100 dimensional coins, but this has nothing to do with you.'

Uh... well, with the Reader's reward, it should also be helpful to that Transmigrator fellow countryman, right?

But then, there was another piece of information.

'JokerClown sees you in a new light and rewarded 1500 dimensional coins, which have been automatically converted into 15 dimensional crystals.'

Ah, this, this is truly unexpected! This Reader also rewarded me, this is truly too generous!

Controlling his excitement, Lex turned a page, and the second page contained the explanation for 'Artisan of Mysteries'.

Artisan of Mysteries: Can influence mystical items by consuming dimensional crystals, mainly in four aspects: identification, decomposition, enhancement, and Seal.

(Affected by knowledge authority, you can currently only influence mystical items below Sequence 8, and temporarily cannot influence Sealed Artifacts)

Additionally, after raising knowledge authority, the usage restrictions of 'Creation' can be lifted.

Influencing mystical items! After raising knowledge authority, there's also a new function that can be used!

Lex excitedly read on, below were simple explanations of the four influences.

Identification: Can identify the origin, abilities, and side effects of mystical items.

The higher the knowledge authority, the more information obtained, and the more comprehensive it is.

Decomposition: Can extract the extraordinary characteristics of mystical items.

The higher the knowledge authority, the more complete the extracted extraordinary characteristics will be.

Enhancement: Improves the abilities and effects of mystical items.

The higher the knowledge authority, the greater the enhancement.

Seal: Weakens the negative effects brought by mystical items.

The higher the knowledge authority, the smaller the negative effects.

After reading these explanations, Lex immediately felt eager to try it out.

He immediately found the 'Shadow Gauntlets'.

Having previous experience using the Mysterious Book, he knew that communicating with this ethereal tome only required the transmission of thought.

So, a thought appeared in his mind: I want to identify this mystical item!

However, nothing happened.

How could this be? Is the method of use incorrect?

Looking at the gauntlets in his hand, Lex then slapped them onto the book, but they passed directly through the tome and fell onto the floor.

This doesn't work either.

Lex suddenly had an inspiration.

He put on the Shadow Gauntlets, then communicated with the Mysterious Book, giving the 'identification' command.

At this moment, a line of information appeared on the page.

'Identifying this item requires 3 dimensional crystals.

Continue?'

Definitely.

As this thought just surfaced, he saw the number of dimensional crystals on the page change rapidly, finally stopping at '29'.

Then, Lex felt a slight trance, and the light and shadow before his eyes became blurry, distorted, and fragmented.

In those fragments of light and shadow, he saw a man standing amidst a pile of corpses; his eyes were cold, and even facing so many bodies, he showed no panic, no fear.

In another fragment of light and shadow, it was still this man.

This time, he cruelly murdered a woman, as if he had lost all conscience.

In piece after piece of light and shadow, Lex saw this man eventually pursued, and killed.

His corpse exuded a shadowy, ethereal substance, and finally, Lex saw a pair of gauntlets.

This is the origin of the 'Shadow Gauntlets'.

After his vision returned to normal, he saw corresponding information appear on the page.

'Shadow Gauntlets: Corresponds to Sequence 8 of the Abyss pathway, an item made from the characteristics of a 'Fallen Angel'.'
