Chapter 323 - Negotiation

In the room that looked like it had been through a fire, Lex put away Sandy's beyonder characteristics, then saw Charles's characteristics beginning to precipitate.

He squatted down and first stripped the ring from Charles's hand, thinking that he would identify the specific function and negative effects of this ring later.

After putting away the ring, Lex searched Charles's body to see if he could find anything else of value. Soon, he found something at his waist. Charles had sewn a pouch into the waist of his skirt, which contained a palm-sized notebook.

Lex opened it and found some messy records, not even worthy of being called a diary.

He casually flipped through it, and on one page, he saw the following information:

'Today, I heard the Elder say that to advance to Sequence 5, one must seek opportunities on the Sea, because we have already lost all Mermaids. That is to say, we once had them, but why did we lose the Mermaids?'

'If they are lost, can't they be bred again?'

Mermaids? A Faceless Man needs Mermaids to advance to a Marionettist. Is it for materials or for ritual requirements?

Lex continued to flip through.

Below were some simple records by Charles, but from these records, it was not difficult to find that he came from Intis. This made Lex speculate: could the organization Charles belonged to before be the Secret Order?

The Secret Order is in Intis, and the Secret Order controls the Seer pathway.

In that case, the Secret Order once had Mermaids, but later lost them. It's unknown how they were lost.

Flipping to the next page, Lex's heart rate subtly quickened.

'Sequence 6, Faceless Man.'

'Main materials: Pituitary gland of a mutated Thousand-Faced Hunter, characteristics of a Human-Skinned Shadow.'

'Auxiliary materials: 80 ml of Thousand-Faced Hunter's blood, 5 drops of black datura juice, 10 grams of Dragon's Tooth Grass powder, 3 strands of Deep Sea Naga hair.' (A checkmark was next to this.)

'Sequence 5, Marionettist.'

'Main materials: Dust of an Ancient Vengeful Spirit, core crystal of a Six-Winged Gargoyle.'

'Auxiliary materials: 80 ml of Golden Spring water from Sonia Island, 10 grams of Dragon-Patterned Tree bark, residual spirituality of an Ancient Vengeful Spirit, 1 pair of Six-Winged Gargoyle eyes.'

'Advancement Ritual: Consume the potion amidst the song of a Mermaid.'

This is a potion formula!

The potion formulas for Faceless Man and Marionettist!

Heh, I've got two more formulas.

Lex couldn't help but think of Kaven. He wondered how much of his potion the Seer had digested by now. Previously, in Tingen, he had also obtained the Seer Sequence 8 and Sequence 7 formulas from a 'Clown'.

Adding these two, Lex now possessed all the Seer formulas from Sequence 8 to Sequence 5!

Tearing off the pages with the formulas, Lex carefully hid them, then flipped through the other pages, but didn't find much useful information.

Except for the latest few pages, which recorded the 'Blood Admiral's 2000-pound bounty on Hunter Rayleigh', and Charles's detailed observations of Hunter Rayleigh on the Green Emerald over the past few days.

I have to say, this guy is quite cautious.

Lex thought to himself, if he hadn't asked Richard for help, he might have really been hunted and turned into a pile of gold coins.

Thump, thump, thump.

Just then, a knock sounded, followed by an unfamiliar man's voice from outside the door: "Mr. Rayleigh, I am the Second Mate of the Green Emerald. We've found the accomplice you mentioned, and he demands to see you. Currently, the Captain and crew are surrounding the warehouse to prevent him from escaping."

He wants to see me?

That person must have something in his hand that he wants to use to negotiate with me.

Lex stood up and said, "I'll go over now."

He looked at Charles's corpse. The Faceless Man's beyonder characteristics had not yet fully precipitated.

Stepping out of the room, Lex said, "Send someone to guard this place; don't let anyone in. There's important criminal evidence inside."

"Alright." The Green Emerald's Second Mate immediately assigned two crew members with rifles to stay there, while he himself led Lex to the cabin on the next deck.

They arrived in front of a warehouse. Outside the warehouse, seven or eight crew members held their rifles level, pointing at the door.

The Captain was personally overseeing the situation here. Seeing Lex arrive, he stepped forward and said, "Mr. Rayleigh, we found the accomplice you mentioned, but he demands to see you."

"He only wants to see you alone."

Lex nodded, stepped forward, and said, "I am Hunter Rayleigh. I'm coming in now."

A cold voice from inside said, "Please come in."

Lex pushed the door open and saw a light on in the depths of the warehouse. A man sat on a sofa, with a revolver and bullets laid out in front of him. It seemed he had removed all the bullets from the gun as a sign of sincerity.

Of course, Lex wouldn't trust the other party just like that. He remained vigilant, not going forward directly, but keeping a distance and asking, "What's your name?"

"Polly, Polly. Mellon. However, those who know me call me 'Medic'."

"That's right, I am a Sequence 8 Medic of the 'Planter' pathway."

The Medic, with his cold appearance and clear voice, looked at Lex and spoke unhurriedly.

Lex nodded slightly: "Alright, Medic. You wanted to see me, and I'm here. Do you have something to say?"

The Medic spread his hands and said, "Although I traveled with Charles and the others for a while, we are not friends; we are more like collaborators."

"They get injured, I'm responsible for healing. When they act, I provide some assistance."

"Unlike Sandy, I don't have anything resembling friendship with Charles. So even if they are hunted by you, I have no intention of avenging them."

The Medic said, as if promoting himself, "Although I don't have the ability to actively participate in combat, I can cure serious illnesses, mend Souls, and I can treat diseases of both the mind and body."

"I would be a good logistician, so you see, if you can ensure I'm unharmed and leave this ship, I can be your companion."

"Until you are hunted by someone else."

"Furthermore, I also know some formulas. For example, Sequence 7 of Sandy's pathway, Weapon Master. If you want it, I can also give you the Planter formulas."

"However, the most valuable thing is a Sequence 5 main material that Charles obtained through exchanges and completed commissions. Believe me, it's quite valuable."

Lex scrutinized the man in front of him, but unfortunately, he was not an Spectator, and the other party's coldness also made it difficult for Lex to judge.

It was difficult to judge the truthfulness of the Medic's words.

At this moment, Lex heard a familiar voice: "He's not lying. Of course, I mean what he's saying right now."

"It's possible that after he gets off the ship, he'll sell you out."

"However."

"If you want him to be your companion, I do have a way. I can guide and hint at him. I can make him never betray you. Hmm, unless he's had his inner thoughts modified by a more powerful 'Spectator' than me, otherwise, you will gain a loyal partner."

"How about it, interested?"

Lex gave a dry laugh and said, "What's the condition?"
