Chapter 32 - Cupcake Confessions

Riven lounged in the grand chamber of his family estate, sunlight streaming through the towering windows and casting warm, golden streaks across the polished floor. His gaze rested on the intricate patterns of the rug beneath his feet, though his mind was elsewhere—on his cupcake, Alex.

Across the room, his parents observed him with a mix of curiosity and mild amusement. His father, Duke Valerian Havana, the commanding and wise head of the Dukedom, leaned back in his chair, steepling his fingers. Beside him, Princess Selene Hensley, the eldest sister of the present King of Hensville, offered a softer, gentler presence, her eyes sparkling with intelligence and warmth.

"Riven," Duke Valerian began, his tone steady but probing, "we've heard whispers about your… budding friendship with the young Lord Alex of Rosetta House. Do tell us how you feel about this young man."

Riven's lips curved into a small, fond smile. "Father, Mother… it's more than just friendship. Alex—my cupcake—is unlike anyone I've met. Sharp, precise, graceful… and yet, there's a fire in him I can't resist admiring."

Princess Selene's eyes softened. "You've always had a keen eye for talent, Riven. But he's a noble from another Dukedom. Are you certain this isn't merely fascination?"

Riven shook his head, almost defensively. "No, Mother. It's more than fascination. He's brilliant, careful in thought, and… he makes the world feel lighter, even amidst all its schemes. My cupcake is someone I treasure. Truly."

Duke Valerian allowed a small smile to tug at the corners of his mouth. "As long as he brings you happiness, Riven, you have our support. Just remember that true loyalty and discretion are part of nurturing any relationship, whether friendship or… something more."

Riven's grin widened. "Of course, Father. And if I may say, every time I see him, every small moment, every strategic move he makes… it only deepens my admiration. My cupcake has a way of making ordinary moments feel extraordinary."

Princess Selene chuckled softly. "I can see why he's captured your attention, Riven. Just be mindful—you must continue honing your skills, your strength, and your own position. Balance is key."

Riven nodded earnestly, but his thoughts were already back with Alex. Cupcake, Cupcake… always my cupcake, he mused silently, fingers flexing as if in anticipation of their next meeting.

Duke Valerian's gaze softened as he stood. "Very well, son. Continue as you are. But remember, happiness is earned and shared with care. We support you, Riven, because you have chosen wisely in what—and whom—you treasure."

Riven's heart warmed, a rare flush crossing his cheeks. "Thank you, Father. Thank you, Mother. My cupcake… will always know how much he is valued."

The chamber settled into a comfortable silence, but the echo of Riven's thoughts remained vivid, filled with admiration, devotion, and a playful protectiveness for the young Lord Alex—his beloved cupcake.
