The morning sun cast a golden glow across the Quidditch pitch as the Hufflepuff team gathered for their first practice of the season. The air was cool and fresh, filled with nervous energy and excitement.
Ethan Chambers, the Hufflepuff captain, stood in the center of the field holding a clipboard. Around him stood the rest of the team—two Beaters, a Keeper, and two other Chasers. Everyone was chatting quietly until Ethan raised his hand.
"Alright, team! Today, we've got someone new joining us," he announced, glancing toward the small figure standing confidently beside him. "This is Roy Valvas—our new Chaser."
A murmur spread among the team. Most of them already knew Roy's name. Some from his potion class fame, others from whispers about his family.
A tall Beater named Marcus leaned toward another and whispered, "Isn't he the one Snape gave points to? I thought that was just a rumor."His friend chuckled. "Guess not. Let's see if he's as good on a broom as people say."
Roy smiled politely and mounted his broom, a sleek Nimbus that gleamed in the sunlight. Ethan blew his whistle. "Let's start with a few warm-up laps. Roy, just follow along."
As soon as Roy kicked off the ground, the rest of the team realized he wasn't just good—he was exceptional.
While others were adjusting to the air currents, Roy moved like he'd been born flying. His body leaned naturally with every gust of wind, his movements smooth, balanced, and precise. When he accelerated, the broom didn't shake or dip—it glided, cutting through the air with effortless grace.
Ethan watched with wide eyes. "Merlin's beard… look at him move."
By the third lap, Roy had already overtaken everyone, looping around the goalposts with a playful spin before rejoining the formation.
When they landed briefly to regroup, one of the Chasers—Lina Davies, a fifth-year—gave him an incredulous look. "How in the world did you get that kind of control? You fly like a professional!"
Roy chuckled. "Just practice. A lot of practice."
Ethan grinned. "Alright then, let's see how well that control works in a match setting. Formation drills! Roy, you're with me and Lina—show us how you handle the Quaffle."
As soon as the whistle blew, Roy's instincts kicked in. He darted through the air with perfect timing, weaving between Bludgers and players like he could see every move before it happened.
When Ethan passed him the Quaffle, Roy caught it one-handed, spun around a Ravenclaw practice dummy, and fired the ball through the center goal hoop at lightning speed. The Keeper didn't even react before it hit.
Whoosh!
"Blimey!" Ethan shouted. "Did you see that shot?!"
"Right through the middle!" Lina called, laughing. "No one's going to block that!"
Roy only smiled modestly. "Let's run it again."
The next few drills showed something even more impressive—Roy's teamwork. He didn't hog the Quaffle or show off. Instead, he read his teammates' movements perfectly, always appearing in the right place to receive or pass the ball.
Ethan couldn't help but grin. "He's not just good—he makes everyone else better."
By the end of practice, the team's energy was electric. Bludgers were flying, passes were cleaner, and even the Keeper seemed sharper.
When Ethan blew the final whistle, everyone descended to the pitch, their faces flushed with excitement.
"That was brilliant, Roy!" Lina said, giving him a friendly punch on the shoulder."Yeah, you've got Quidditch in your blood," added Marcus, one of the Beaters.
Ethan clapped Roy on the back. "Welcome to the team, Chaser. With you flying for Hufflepuff, we might actually have a shot at winning the Cup this year."
Roy smiled. "Let's make sure of it."
That evening in the Great Hall, whispers filled the air again.
"Hufflepuff's new Chaser is incredible!""Someone said he scored on Ethan five times in one practice!""Roy Valvas is going to change Quidditch this year, just you wait."
At the Gryffindor table, Harry grinned when he heard. "Looks like I'll have some real competition out there."Ron scowled. "Competition? He's in Hufflepuff! It's not like they'll beat Gryffindor…"
Hermione rolled her eyes. "Maybe they will. Roy seems to have a habit of proving people wrong."
Meanwhile, at the Slytherin table, Daphne and Cassandra were quietly smiling to themselves.
Cassandra leaned in. "Our Roy's already making Hogwarts history."Daphne laughed softly. "Of course he is. He wouldn't be Roy if he didn't."
