Chapter 8 - A New Member!

"Yeah! This strawberry milk tastes great! You should try it too!" yelled Alexandra. Her mouth was covered in strawberry milk.

Cillian sneered, "Wipe your face first!" He was really angry at her. Where did she find this human?! They certainly didn't need more people to join their 'Factotum Alexandra.'

His brother, Michael gave Jenni a blank look. He said, "Where did you get this miserable creature? Your habit of picking useless things always amuse me. Tell me, how will you pay her salary? Not everyone works for free like us."

Jenni blushed in embarrassment. She could tell that these two fox-men didn't like her. If she was correct, then they were equally infuriating as the orange haired woman. Wait... were these two demi-humans?

"Are these two demi-humans?!" shrieked Jenni.

Cillian snarled, "What a bright creature! Your future is certainly bright!"

"Yeah, her glasses are really bright. Are they enchanted or what?" mocked Michael.

Jenni glared at the two brothers. Her intuition was indeed correct. These two were equally infuriating as their 'boss.' At first, she was really mesmerized by their handsomeness... but now, she wanted to beat them up.

Finishing up her strawberry milk, Alexandra wiped her face with Cillian's apron.

Cillian yelled, "What the hell are you doing?" He bonked her head with his fist, making her cry out in pain.

"Ouch! You bastard! What was that for!"

"That's my favourite apron, you idiot! Go wash your face! But don't dare to wipe your face with my apron!"

Alexandra pouted, "Why are you being so violent? You two brothers always bully me!"

Michael laughed angrily at her words. He asked, "Do you want to sleep outside today?"

His words stilled Alexandra. A drop of sweat trickled down from her forehead. With an awkward laugh, she stuttered, "I-it's... fine... Micheal. You two brothers... are really great to m-me... you cook for me... y-you k-keep... my house clean... and you certainly don't bully me. I-I am really grateful to the... both of you..."

"Hey! Alexandra, can you answer my question? Where did you find these demi-humans?" yelled Jenni. She was tired of being ignored by them.

Alexandra scratched her head and laid leisurely on the sofa. "You are talking about these two? Well, I bought them."

"You bought them?!" Jenni yelled in shock. How could it be possible?! Demi-humans were the most affected species because of the war. They were almost extinct now. But the ones who survived... were sold in the black market. A demi-human's cost was at least a million gold coins.

"How did you buy them? You don't have any money!" shrieked Jenni.

Alexandra stifled a yawned. Scratching her back, she answered, "I don't know. They appeared at my doorstep one day and told me to buy them for a silver coin. So, I bought them. It was quite profitable for me."

Jenni's mouth was wide open in shock. Those words were unbelievable! Why would these two demi-humans want her to buy them?

"Is that true?" Jenni asked the two brothers.

Cillian snorted, "It doesn't matter if it's true or false. Our affairs are our own! No need to insert your glasses into our private matters."

Again?!

Why did they always target her glasses?!

Jenni resisted the urge to lash out, giving them a forced smile. It made her face look so ugly that the brothers immediately looked away.

"You bastards! I know what you are thinking! It's you who is ugly, not me!"

Alexandra sighed, "Can you keep it down? I understand why you are concerned, Jenni. But these types of things can't be explained now. You will have to wait for flashbacks. Every hero or heroine has a numerous flashback scenes set for them."

Jenni's eyelids twitched. She hissed, "What 'flashbacks?' What the hell is she talking about?"

"Why the hell are you talking like this again?! Didn't I explain it to you before? If you keep talking this, then people will think that you are a madwoman," Michael gritted out.

Alexandra looked at them and said nothing. Besides, it wasn't her job to explain everything to them.

"But what will happen if some officials find out about them?" asked Jenni.

"Then, I will simply say that these two are javanjis. There is a species which is eerily similar to demi-humans," replied Alexandra.

Jenni wanted to say something more but kept her mouth shut when she was glared by the two brothers.

"Well, moving on. Jenni is now my official sidekick. You know every hero or heroine has one or two, though you are an ugly one."

"You! Stop saying these weird things again and again!"

Alexandra ignored Jenni and looked at the two brothers. She suddenly sat bolt upright and said, "Anyhow, let's welcome Jenni, the new member of our family. She has a very sensible kid, who has agreed to work for free." As soon as finished her sentence, the three of them began clapping loudly.

"Hey! I said that I will manage! Don't twist my words!" Jenni yelled. Her words meant after the business boomed, she would get higher wages. But until then, she would manage. This woman! Why did she have to always twist every single damn thing for her profit?!

The three of them ignored her and continued clapping.

"Hey!"

"Listen to me!"

"You idiots!"

"I PROMISE THAT I KILL THE THREE OF YOU SOMEDAY!"

Alexandra laughed at her words and shook her head.

'Maybe it's not that bad. Having a new member will definitely liven things around here. Also, she could help me to distract the two brothers. Finally! I could sleep happily at home while she distracted them! Really, having a new member is very beneficial for our business... especially, for me.'
