"Luna what's wrong?"
The gang stared at her pale face, her hand was now shaking as she continued staring at her phone.
"I can't take this suspense anymore" Ada groaned and snatched her phone
"What's wrong"
I leaned closer and what I saw on the phone almost made me throw up.
"He's not playing" i whispered

The drive home was as usual, quiet but the silence was filled with unspoken dread. Kelvin...i mean that purple bastard was not playing, he was really out to get us. The image of Luna's daughter's body chopped up in piece's kept replaying in my head. He was really heartless, then again who am I to judge him? We made him this way and he's just returning the favour
"Aurora" i just pray nothing happens to her "Amir?"
"Sir"
"That apartment at lekki is secured right?"
"Yes sir. If you're worried about Aurora, just know i have sent some of our men to be watching her 247. Those purple bastards can't come close to her" Amir assured
I just nodded while still feeling worried 😟. I looked at the time on my phone, it was already 3am
"Amir take me to the secret guest house, i need to get some rest. All these drama is making me feel dizzy"

Aurora's pov
Morning
They say wake up with renewed energy and hope every morning. That was my daily mantra but recently with everything that's been happening, i feel like my whole life energy has been drained.
"Ugh"
I groaned a little as I shifted on my bed, honestly it was no use getting up. I had no job to rush to anymore, not even a boyfriend to go on romantic dates with. My life was completely empty 🫗 and cold.
"What's the point?"
As if the universe was replying to my question, an image of David's bloody body flashed before my eyes and i quickly got up
"Right, i need to get justice" i reminded myself
With motivation driving me, i had a quick bath, wore my favourite blue hoodie and pants, and then rushed downstairs to prepare breakfast.
"What's that smell?" I sniffed as a sweet aroma started coming from the kitchen
My hungry stomach grumbled as the sweet smell teased my nose 🐽.
"Who on earth is cooking? Did dad hire a chef for me?"
I slowly walked into the kitchen only to see Aron wearing an apron while cutting onions. He poured the chopped onions into a pot on the cooker and turned whatever sweet delicacy he was making. I just stood by the door watching him in awe 🫢
"Morning" i coughed
He quickly turned and saw me
"Oh morning miss Aurora" he smiled nervously
"Aurora will do, no need to get formal" i corrected him
"Sorry morning Aurora"
"Um what are you doing?" I walked over to him and looked into the pot, he was making chicken stew
"Cooking" he raised a brow
"Why?"
"No reason, i wanted to wake you up to prepare breakfast but I saw how tired you looked, so i decided to prepare it myself" he said as he went back to turning the stew
"That's really nice of you but i thought boys couldn't cook" i smirked
"Says who?" He smirked back
"I don't know, it's just a general knowledge" i shrugged
"Well that's not true, everybody knowing something doesn't make it true. As a matter of fact, it'll shock you to know that 90% of boys in Lagos are actually good cooks while 80% of girls are still learning to cook" he smiled
I just nodded in agreement 🤝
"Nice. It's just that I grew up around men with negative masculinity, women cook, men provide... blah blah"
"Well I'm an expection"
"Mmmmm, by the sweet aroma i can already guess this food will be delicious" i grinned
"You're not wrong. Here have a taste" he scooped up a tiny portion of the stew and gave it to me
"Mmmm, omg" my taste buds were in heaven! "This is really good" i licked my lips and the spoon
"Hahaha what are you doing?" He laughed as he watched me
"Omo this your stew don scatter my head oh" i continued licking my lips
"Who taught you how to cook?" I asked
"Um i wish I could remember but i still can't remember anything about myself" he said sadly
"Oh...yeah" i stopped for a moment "but on the bright side you didn't loose your amazing cooking skills" i joked
"Yeah" he smiled
"I will go and set up the dinning table while you finish up" i said
"Alright"
I walked out of the kitchen after handing him back the spoon and headed to the dining room which was a little corner in the living room. I was just about to grab a juice from the fridge when the door bell rang
"Huh? Who is that? I don't remember telling anyone i moved here" i got scared
Ring!!! The door bell rang again
I was still contemplating whether to open the door when Aron walked into the room with the stew
"Did you invite anyone?" He asked
"No" i said nervously "do you think it's the gang?"
"Hmmmm. I'll go check"
"Don't..."
He ignored me and walked over to the door. As he turned the door knob, my heart started pounding in fear
"God" i prayed
"Hello, is Aurora around?" I heard a feminine voice
"Yeah" Aron said to the voice and turned towards me "it's a woman, she wants to see you"
"Woman?"
Aron let the visitors in and i breathed in relief as it was just Anna and Michael
"Oh i thought you guys were criminals"
They both laughed at my pale face
"Wonder woman wey won fight gang, you still dey fear" Anna mocked me playfully
"Abeg leave me jari, how come you knew where i was staying??" I asked
"You forgot?" Anna said as she sat down
"Huh?" I was confused
"You sent me a text last night, you said you had something about the gang and that I should come over" she brought out the phone and showed me the text message
"Oooooh yeah I remember now. Sorry I totally forgot" i scratched my head
"Seems like all these stress is really getting to you" Anna said with her eyes full of compassion
"You have no idea" i sighed
"Sorry dear. Um who's your new friend or bodyguard?" She looked at Aron who was dishing out the food
"Long story. Um guys meet Aron, Aron meet my friends and coworkers, Anna and Michael"
"Nice to meet you" they chorused
"So are you her bodyguard or something?" Anna was always inquisitive
"No, she saved my life so I'm staying with her" Aron replied
"Oh how?"
"Okay enough of the questions, Aron made chicken stew so let's eat" i dragged her towards the dinning while Michael followed
"Oh he even cooks?" She whispered to me
I just glared at her "I'll fill you in later, just drop it please"
"Fine, but I gotta say he's an eye candy" she smiled and glanced at an unaware Aron
"I'm going to turn you into a sore eye if you don't stop talking" i hissed
"Abeg leave me joor, i just dey admire person. Man's got to live" she giggled
This girl will kill me one day, 😭 even with all these terrorism going on she still hasn't changed.
"Just eat your food" i groaned
"Kk" she winked
After breakfast, it was finally time for business. Anna, Michael and I headed into my room while Aron cleaned up. I locked the door to my room to make sure Aron wouldn't interrupt us, something about him made me uncomfortable.
"So what's up?" Anna said as she bounced on my bed
Michael being the normal one just simply sat down
"Quit acting like a child and sit still please" i frowned at Anna
"Don't tell me what to do" she stuck out her tongue before finally sitting still
"May God deliver you, seems like that bomb must have affected your brain" i hissed
"Whatever" she rolled her eyes "so why exactly did you want to see us?"
"Isn't it obvious?" I raised a brow
"The purple Lagoon gang" Anna said
"Yeah" i nodded
"What about them?" Michael asked
"Well isn't it our job as journalists to investigate what's going on?" I shrugged
"It was, but it's not like we have a Planet news complex to get back to. Or have you forgotten? Gabi is dead, so technically we're jobless" Anna said
"Last time i checked, you don't need a building to be a journalist" i looked at her
"Hmmm, stop beating around the bush and just get to the point" Michael said in his usual dry voice
"Ummm" i breathed in slowly "i think we should investigate the purple Lagoon...i mean try to bring them to book"
"Are you crazy?!" They both said
"Last time I checked, i was perfectly sane" i smiled
"Check again" Anna frowned
"I'm just saying as journalists we need to do our jobs, we can't just stand by while the city burns down" i tried explaining
"This isn't about your job as a journalist, is it? This is about David, right?" Anna saw through me
I kept mute
"Aurora you're planing to go up against a group that the whole armed forces fears, you must be on drugs or something. Look i understand how hurt you're, but just know you're aren't the only one grieving, the whole city is too. I lost my aunt and job just like you but you don't see me going crazy about it"
"Maybe because you're a coward" i snapped angrily
Anna just looked at me in shock
"Anna is just..." Michael said trying to defend her
"I'm not being a coward, I'm just being cautious. You have no idea what those monsters are capable of, unlike you who has a powerful dad to run to when things get out of control, we have no one!" Anna snapped back at me
I just kept quiet
"Come to think of it, how can I even trust you when you lied to me about your real identity?" She sounded hurt
"I'm sorry" i really felt bad for shouting at her
"Honestly I feel hurt, I've been your best friend for three years now and it never even occurred to you to tell me about your real identity"
"I know, but this is the exact reason I never wanted to tell you about my dad in the first place, i didn't want you to see me as a privileged brat hiding behind her dad's influence"
She nodded
I just sighed sadly
"Yes it's about David, but it's not just about him. This is the city i grew up in, my first cry, my first walk, my mom and all the good memories i made are all here. I really don't want to lose that to this purple evil. I know it's hard and difficult but we can't just fold our hands and watch Lagos burn ❤️🔥 in this purple fire, we need to do something no matter how small it seems..." I paused as i couldn't hold in the tears anymore
I just bent my face and started crying
Gosh I'm a cru baby
"Babe" Anna rushed towards me and hugged me "I'm sorry"
"No it's fine" i pulled myself away from her "it's fine if you don't want to join me, I'm going to do it alone"
"Hey hold your horses. I guess i have to start writing my will soon" Anna smiled
"Huh? Does that mean you're in?" I looked at her with excitement
"Yeah yeah"
"Yes!" I jumped on her excitedly
"Woah easy, do you want to kill me before those purple bastards do?" She tried to push me away
"Sorry" i quickly let go of her
"Just so you know, if I end up dead in this mission, I'm going to haunt you for life" she smirked
"I won't let anyone kill you, i promise"
"Fine. What about you?"
We both turned towards the ghost in the room
"Are you in Mike?" I grinned at him
"Do i have a choice?" He shrugged
"No you don't" Anna smiled, pulling him towards her
"As I thought. Fear women"
We both burst out laughing
"So now that everyone is in, what's our next move?" Michael directed at me
"Yeah. Um so last night, i was up doing some background research on the purple Lagoon and as expected i found nothing on them"
"Mhmmm go on"
"But I did find a link after doing some background search on their victims"
"What link?" Anna asked
I brought out my laptop and logged into the web, some videos and posts of the bomb victims popped up. I turned the screen towards my friends
"What are we looking at?" Anna scratched her head
"Don't you see anything strange?" I asked
"All i see are some disturbing pictures of dead bodies. I'm gonna throw up" Anna said covering her mouth
"You're really naive" i was frustrated "you really don't see the link?"
"Nope" she shook her head
"The woman in the video is Amirah Gabo, daughter to the minister for defence" Michael said
Thank God, someone was getting it
"So?" Anna was still confused
"You still don't get it?"
"No. Can someone please tell me what's going on?"
I showed them another video, a disturbing post about a girl that was brutally chopped into pieces
"Omg 🤢🤢" Anna almost threw up
"That's Sarah Abba, daughter to the south Africa ambassador to Nigeria. Who's currently in Lagos" Michael said
"How's all these disturbing videos a link to the purple Lagoon?" Anna said clutching her stomach
"They're targeting people related to government officials, don't you see?" I stared at her
"Oh" she was finally understanding me
"Yeah, their main victims are mostly those that have any sort of relationship with the government house"
"Hmmmm so they're trying to take some sort of revenge on the government?" Anna asked
"Yes and that broadcast they made on the first day of the attack comfirms it. This is all a political revenge" i said
"Wait if this is about getting revenge on politicians, why involve the masses?" Michael asked in his usual dry voice
"I don't know for now, but no matter who's to blame. The point is everyone is going to feel their wrath. This is all a game to them" i was in deep thought
We all kept quiet lost in our own thoughts trying to piece the puzzle together
"Aurora" Michael murmured
"Mmmm" i looked up
"They mentioned your dad, do you think he has a hand in this?" Hr studied me
"i'm not really sure"
"Well to be honest, your dad isn't exactly a good governor so I definitely think he has a hand in all these" Anna said
"We can't judge him without any evidence" i tried to defend
"Evidence? They literally mentioned his name in that broadcast, what other evidence do you need?" She snapped
"Easy" Michael warned her
I just kept quiet, deep down in my gut i just knew dad had a hand in this purple mess. Even as a child, I'd always seen my dad as a mystery, the late nights, the long trips to unknown places, the hidden rooms in our house, the constant fights between him and mom, then mom's strange death. He was definitely hiding a huge dirty secret and i need to know why
"Anna's right, we have to keep an eye on him. Despite the fact that's he's my father, I still think he's hiding something from me" i said
"Omg Aurora you're his daughter, that means you're in danger too" Anna said worriedly as if just realising i was the governor's daughter
"No one knows about my real identity so I'm safe...for now anyways" i shrugged
"I hope so" she said "omo all these mysteries is making me dizzy. I feel so scared"
"There's nothing to be scared about, just don't tell anyone about this and try to act normal"
She nodded nervously "okay"
"Um Aurora, how exactly are we supposed to investigate the purple Lagoon without any political help or reliable sources?" Michael asked
He was right
"True 💯, if only there was someone in the government house that hasn't been corrupted" Anna held her chin
"I think I know someone"
"Who"
They both looked at me expectantly
