No wonder the name 'Campus Adventure' sounded familiar to me.
I had heard earlier that the school added a new competition item to this year's inter-class tournament—a campus-themed virtual game. It's said the game's designer is an alumnus of Beichuan Middle School, and the game's background blueprint is based on Beichuan Middle School itself.
Because I've never been particularly interested in campus-themed games, I didn't look into it when the school first announced the news. I only knew that each Fifth Form class had to send three representatives to participate in the game on April 1st.
"Me, Chow Zi Qian, and Ong Wei Jun are the three representatives for our class in the 'Campus Adventure' game. The game is held in our school's VR experience room, starting at 1:40 PM today. But the school required all participating players to be at the VR experience room by 1:00 PM to attend a virtual game briefing session arranged by Tian Xiang Company. Neither Zi Qian nor I have seen Wei Jun since the briefing started, but now we've run into you inside the game."
Xin Hui paused for a moment, then continued, "This is the first time the school has held a competition where participants use their subconscious to enter a virtual game. To ensure the safety of the participating students, the school arranged for teachers and Tian Xiang Company staff to supervise inside the VR experience room. No one else is allowed to enter the experience room freely. So, did Wei Jun have an emergency, and since you happened to be at school, a teacher asked you to come to the experience room to replace him?"
"No." I shook my head. "I'm not at the school right now."
"That is strange." Xin Hui frowned, looking at me. 'Campus Adventure' hasn't been released to the public yet. Players can only enter the game through the smart glasses distributed by Tian Xiang Company in the experience room. You're not at school, and you don't have the designated smart glasses, so how did you get into the game?"
Xin Hui's question really stumped me. I clearly intended to play "War Simulation", but somehow ended up in "Campus Adventure."
"I don't know. Initially, I wanted to play another game. I probably clicked the wrong game icon and ended up in this one." I thought for a moment. "How about I exit the game first to check?"
I raised my left hand, but before I could summon the emergency exit window, Xin Hui stopped me: "No need for the trouble... Since you're here, why not challenge the game together! Our team is short-handed right now."
A "ding" sound echoed in my ears, and the "Team" icon in the lower left corner flashed rapidly several times. Then, a team invitation prompt appeared before my eyes. After teaming up with other players, you can undertake quests together with your teammates and share quest rewards and experience points.
Xin Hui sent me a team invitation.
"Want to team up?"
