As someone who had been a cursed one most of his life in his original world, he could immediately tell that none of the abilities he used were there, meaning he would have to gain more cursed fragment souls in order to use any abilities in this world.
Which was definitely going to be a pain in the ass, considering the process it required and the downside of gaining abilities.
'Everything seems to be on level one, meaning they have a chance to become stronger. No different from a baby taking its first step.'
Just by looking at messages, Ragna already had the general idea of what the cursed system wanted him to do, and except he wanted to live an ordinary life, he would have no choice but to do them.
Among his skills and abilities, besides Dash and cursed Regeneration, he thought there was nothing much to see except he gained more abilities, so after going through them, he closed the system interface.
'Can we talk? As in, can I ask you a couple of questions?'
A teenager's voice said in his mind, just as Ragna was in deep thought, making his head ache slightly, but he just shrugged it off.
"Go on, as long as they are not stupid, and you have three chances, so pick your questions wisely."
Ragna could tell the fragment cursed soul of the kid was still confused, and could perceive the fear it had with him taking over his body, however, while he felt a bit sorry for the kid, he didn't exactly care about what it thought about him.
'Who are you actually, and what will you do with my body from now on?'
"That's two questions in a row, kid, nevertheless, even though I know it's useless telling you all these things, I will still take my time explaining them. Firstly, I am not from this world. I don't know if it's a parallel world of yours or an entirely different world.
"Nevertheless, I was part of a special experimental subject referred to as the Cursed ones; these cursed ones were neither humans at least no more, neither demon or monsters but beyond monstrosity.
"Thanks to the numbers of sacrificed ability users, we were created as the ultimate weapons to fight whatever apocalypse had befallen my world.
"As for what I will do with your body, it is solely up to me, and no further questions about it!"
'Thirdly, will I ever regain my body?'
"No, you're literally dead and no more than a parasite housing in this body. That was your last question." Ragna grunted.
He could tell the fragment cursed soul of the kid, had more questions it wanted to ask, but didn't. Even if he had asked, he wasn't going to answer them since it was only going to be a waste of time, the fragment cursed soul was dead, and there was nothing it could do to regain its body.
There were moments of silence in his head as Ragna stopped paying attention to the fragment cursed soul and scanned the room he was in. After waking up, he had longed used the memories of the fragment cursed soul to return to his relatives' house.
'Why is there nothing here?'
Ragna thought to himself as he looked at a nearly empty room with nothing but a scrawny old bed and old clothes. The kid must really have had it rough, he thought inwardly.
After he was done, Ragna stood up and decided to take a stroll around the house, although he had inherited the old memories of the old Ragna, he still needed to understand his environment, since most of the information was a mess.
Ragna cleaned his body with whatever he could find in the almost empty room , walked out through the door, and arrived at a small passage that led to the living room.
Just as he walked through the passage, he could hear the voice of a female as if speaking to someone but with love and tenderness.
"Thank you, Mother."
A younger male voice replied. While they were talking, Ragna walked in on a woman and a teen, standing close to the doorstep. The teen was clad in a gold-like colored uniform; his expression was a look of pride, and he was almost the height of the woman.
Just from hearing their voices, he could feel the Cursed fragment soul emotions stirring in his mind, but he just shrugged it off.
Their faces were the same as with the image of Ragna Aunt and nephew in his memories. They were clearly people the old Ragna was familiar with and the sole reason why he had committed suicide.
However, he was thankful to them, while his current self had no emotional attachment to them; it was needless to say, without the old Ragna dying due to their ill-treatment, he wouldn't have been reborn.
"Let's go now."
She said, totally ignoring him as they walked out of the door, leaving him behind. Ragna had a deadpan expression as he watched them disappear from his sight, while the fragment cursed soul kept stirring in his mind.
To the current him they were just strangers who he had only met due to taking over the body of the previous Ragna, so he didn't feel any emotional attachment compared to the fragment cursed soul who was familiar with them.
'They seem to care about the kid. I don't know why the kid still clung to such useless emotions even though they clearly didn't give a fuck about him.'
Ragna was already used to this type of people, so he wasn't bothered by them. Compared to people he had seen in his original world, these ones were nothing.
He couldn't blame the kid, though, since he was literally an orphan.
'Sigh, kid you really do have a shitty family.'
Ragna thought, and turned to look at the living room, besides the TV on the wall, and sofas and dining sets with little gadgets of being an advanced civilization there was nothing much to look at these were his thoughts.
Ragna shut the door behind him. At this point, he regretted being reborn into the body of a teenager because, at this point, the cursed fragment soul wouldn't stop yapping about being late for school.
After filtering through the memories of the previous Ragna, he discovered he was still a high schooler, which meant he would be forced to sit down with a bunch of brats.
On the streets, Ragna could be seen running like a madman as he ran toward the school.
He could not use Dash because he would quickly run out of energy before arriving at his destination. He couldn't help but grunt under his breath.
