Vivian watched as Cain dropped to his knees before falling sideways. His body twitched violently as foam gathered at the corners of his mouth, and only a moment later, he lost consciousness.
Vivian was not faring much better.
She did not collapse or begin convulsing, but that was only because Elion had directed most of the pressure towards Cain.
Even so, her top had become soaked through with sweat.
She could barely breathe, her chest rising and falling violently as she struggled to draw air into her lungs.
When she finally looked up, she saw Elion towering over them.
His beautiful mismatched eyes stared down at the pair with undisguised disdain, as though they were nothing more than ants beneath his feet.
It was a look Vivian knew she would never forget for the rest of her life.
'What kind of monster have we provoked?'
Even though she had not been the one to provoke him directly, it was already over for both of them.
