Chapter 21 - Chapter 21

It's been a month since I received my support items. With them, I can tap into sixty percent of my power without breaking my body. The gauntlets especially… they make handling One For All so much easier. Still, even with that help, the strain adds up. So I've sworn to only use them when absolutely necessary—or during hero work to improve my base performance overall.

Somehow, I also ended up becoming the class president alongside Momo. And yes, I call her by her first name. Her last name is a bit of a tongue-twister… and honestly, with how many rare and complicated surnames exist, I just gave up. The class also found me more approachable than the others—probably thanks to this 'innocent' face. Canon Izuku had to nominate himself to build confidence. I don't need that.

Maybe because in my previous life I was already a working professional, I'm comfortable with leadership. Social skills came naturally.

I've gotten close with Hagakure too. She's surprisingly sweet… though there's something ominous about her that I can't quite place. And Fuyumi-san—she and I became friends quickly. Maybe because I'm older mentally; I get along with her more than with kids my physical age. They always say I give off "older brother vibes."

Well… I was in my late twenties. It's no surprise fitting in with teenagers feels odd. Kacchan is an exception—maybe because he's known me since the beginning. Shoto too. I visit his house often these days, though I still haven't met Endeavor. He saved me during the UA entrance exam, but never spoke to me again.

He may be a terrible father… but as a hero, he fought until the bitter end. I respect that. Admitting mistakes, dropping pride, trying to change—those demands are harder than fighting villains.

I never managed that in my past life.

Maybe that's why she left me…

At UA High.

"Okay, brats. The UA Sports Festival is just around the corner. You'd better be ready."

Aizawa's voice echoed across the room.

"Hell yeah!" Bakugo grinned.

"Now I'm gonna defeat you, Deku," he declared.

"We'll see about that, Kacchan. I've been training too. I'm not losing to you now," I answered.

The class immediately erupted—half cheering for Bakugo, half for me.

Later that day, I had lunch with All Might.

"How's class, young man?" he asked between bites.

"It's fine. They said the Sports Festival is at the end of the month," I replied.

"Ohh, the Sports Festival. A perfect chance to be introduced to the world… as the next Symbol of Peace."

"…Do you really think I can become that, All Might?"

"Absolutely," he said without hesitation.

I stayed silent.

"You know, young man… I was quirkless too."

"Really?" I acted surprised—even though I already knew.

He smiled sadly. "It took me eight years to fully master One For All. Eight long, brutal years under Gran Torino… But eventually, I rose to become the Symbol of Peace. Before that, I worked in America with my best friend, David Shield. He created my support items."

"You used support items?" I asked.

My mind raced.

All Might used support items? That wasn't in the anime. Then… are the movies canon? Oh god—the movie villains are worse than half the canon ones. There was that All For One wannabe… and All Might wannabe… and that girl fans obsess over… Melissa Shield?

"Yep. I was terrible at handling One For All in the beginning," he laughed.

"Really?"

"But over time, I learned. Compared to me, you're doing amazingly well. Don't doubt yourself. You can do this."

He raised his fist.

I bumped it gently.

"…Yeah. Thanks, All Might."

Talking with him always made me feel lighter. He really was that charismatic.

Sports Festival Morning

'Hey, when are you going to visit Tenko? You promised, remember?' Nana asked.

'I remember, Nana-san. I just… don't want to seem weird. I've got a plan.'

'A plan? What plan?'

Talking to the vestiges was easy. They were adults—I understood them.

Kids, not so much.

'It's a secret,' I said.

"You're no fun!" Nana pouted.

As we walked, I bumped into someone—someone big.

"Watch where you're going, kid," a deep voice growled.

"S-Sorry."

Why is he here…?

"You're the kid from the entrance exam," Endeavor said, recognizing me instantly.

"Yes. Thank you for saving me that day, Endeavor-san."

"Are you Izuku Midoriya? From Shoto's class?"

"Yes."

"Don't worry. Shoto's going to defeat you. He's my masterpiece… All Might's son."

…wait. What?

"H-Huh? WHAT?" I blurted.

"No need to hide it, All Might's son. I'm not petty enough to reveal his secret."

"I—I think you got it wrong, sir. I'm not—"

"Shoto told me everything. I got suspicious after seeing your power in the exam, but he confirmed it." Endeavor walked away.

"I'M NOT HIS SON!" I yelled desperately.

He didn't turn back.

Does father and son share the same braincell?! How do they jump to this conclusion?!

"Hahahahaha!" Nana burst out laughing. "Your face is priceless!"

'Shoto… when I see you…'

When I met Shoto..I dragged Shoto to a quiet locker room.

"How the hell did you decide I'm All Might's son?" I demanded, gripping his collar.

"Well… you are, right?" he said calmly.

A soft thup sound hit the ground.

"Hagakure. Come out," I said.

She slowly became visible. "S-Sorry…"

"Did you hear our conversation?"

"…Yes…" she sniffled.

"I'll talk to you later."

"Midoriya-kun… are you really All Might's son?" she asked.

"I'M NOT. NOW GO."

She left, wiping her eyes.

I exhaled and turned back to Shoto.

"I'm not All Might's son. I have parents. You've seen my mom—Inko Midoriya. My father is Hisashi Midoriya, working overseas. Here's his photo."

"…Are you sure? You really seem like All Might's secret child," he said.

"Say that again and I'll kill you," I hissed. "Our quirks are just similar. That's all."

"Then why is he clinging to you?"

'Oh, he's sharp,' Nana whispered.

'Quiet,' I snapped.

"…The truth is, All Might is my master," I admitted.

"What?"

"He became my master in middle school. Since I was a late bloomer and our quirks are alike."

Shoto's face darkened. "My father wants me to defeat All Might. I was born for that purpose. I'm his 'masterpiece'. I'll defeat you..All might successor with only my ice—and prove you don't need two quirks to surpass the Symbol of Peace. "

"Fine. I accept your challenge. But don't think I'll go easy."

".. Don't worry I plan to do the same"

Shoto left.

"You can come out now, Hagakure."

"How did you notice me again?! I didn't make a sound this time!" she protested, becoming visible.

"It doesn't matter," I said, grabbing her by the wrist.

'Izuku, this is wrong…' Nana warned.

'Quiet.'

"M-Midoriya-kun… this is too fast…my heart is not ready.." Hagakure squeaked, misunderstanding completely.

"I don't want anyone to know what happened here. Understand?"

"…Yes…" she whispered.

"I actually thought you were going to assault her," Nana muttered.

"What do you take me for? I may be a pervert, but I'm not a criminal," I hissed back.

I turned to leave—

"Midoriya-kun…"

I paused.

"…No. Izuku-kun. I love you."

Hagakure revealed herself fully—face red, expression intense.

"…Sorry, Hagakure. I can't be in a relationship right now. I have too much going on."

"Is it because you're All Might's son?"

"I'M NOT."

"Is it because you like that woman with white hair? I'll get rid of her for you."

"…Fuyumi-san? Why are you bringing her up?"

"WHY?! Are you into that old hag when you have me?! AM I NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR YOU" she screamed.

"I'm not in a relationship with Fuyumi-san."

"THEN WHY?!"

"I'm sorry but I can't go into details."

"It's fine. I'm not giving you up. But If you lie and get with that white haired girl—I'll kill you."

Her voice was eerily calm.

Danger Sense exploded inside my skull.

…she's joking… right?

'Be careful, kid, She's not normal' Shinomori warned.

'…eh? Nana-san?' I turned.

'Sorry, Izuku-kun. I can't help you crush the girl's feelings.'

'FUCKING TRAITORS!'

'Language,' Banjo said.

The vestiges laughed.

Then Hagakure stepped closer.

"Call me Toru."

"…Why?"

"You call everyone by their first names… Call me by mine."

Habit from my old world… too many repeated surnames.

I sighed.

"…Toru. I'll say this again. I don't plan to date anyone in high school. Don't get your hopes up."

"It's okay. If you don't see me as a woman, I'll make you see me as one."

She leaned close… then disappeared.

I dragged a hand down my face.

"Why am I caught up in this…"

A sudden invisible pressure pinned me. Arms wrapped around me—and lips pressed to mine. One whole minute.

"What—what are you doing?!" I stumbled back.

"Marking you, Izuku-kun. So other women stay away."

She left a hickey on my neck… then vanished for real this time.

'Izuku-kun, are you okay?' Nana asked gently.

"…No. Who kisses someone like that? my girlfriend was so passive… I always had to take the lead… she was never this aggressive…"

"You have a girlfriend and your not even sixteen? And you even— I knew it! You really are a pervert! A menace to women!" Nana scolded.

I SAID THAT OUT LOUD?!

"Nana-san! I mean—my middle school girlfriend! And we didn't— Not like that! The kiss was just different!"

"In your middle school..so your even younger...In my era, we weren't allowed to date until eighteen. You kids…" she grumbled.

Then she softened. "Still… take care of her. She seems sweet. Otherwise she might… actually kill you."

"E-Eh? You're joking, right?"

Nana didn't answer.

The festival was about to begin.
