Evelin's POV
"You wouldn't dare," I said firmly. "You gave your word about the bone marrow donation, and breaking promises isn't who you are."
Jimmy's eyelashes trembled slightly—I could tell he'd gotten the wrong idea about what I meant.
He must think I'm talking about him backing out of the donation entirely.
But that wasn't what I was worried about at all. I was concerned about his health, about whether he was pushing himself too hard too soon.
"Jimmy, I can't believe you'd go this far to save Alice," I said again. Everything he was doing—it was all for me.
Never in a million years did I expect him to actually get tested. And finding out he was a perfect match? That was beyond anything I'd dared hope for.
"You don't want to see your brother's heart shatter, do you? Since Alice means so much to you, I'm ready to do whatever it takes," Jimmy replied. Kindness wasn't exactly his trademark, but whatever gentleness he possessed—it all belonged to me.
