The last time he'd run like that was for a university competition that had been two years ago and here he was risking everything to run again. There was a girl in his heart, the one he had once longed for so desperately, and she was sitting alone in the theater, almost through the whole movie. Otis ran like a man with nothing to lose, reckless.

People around stared in surprise at the office worker in a vest charging like a long-distance runner. Otis burst into the mall, saw the elevator going down, and dashed up the stairs.

What rotten luck could misery come in threes? He reached the third floor faster than the elevator, then barreled toward the cinema and flashed his ticket at the gate. The usher looked at the stub and said, "Sorry, sir, our screening is over."

Otis shouted, rough and desperate, "There are three minutes left! Let me in, I just want to hear the end credits music!"
