Fair enough, if I cooked food that good, I'd be vain about it too.
Especially those little smug moments of Mei's; he genuinely liked watching her preen. Seeing her so pleased with herself made Otis speak up: "I'm a good man too."
Mei snorted. "You...you are…"
Otis looked at her. "I am what?"
Mei wanted to call him a piece of trash, but when she saw his glasses she swallowed the insult and instead said, "Take your glasses off."
Otis, puzzled, removed them. Mei declared, "You're a piece of trash!"
There done. Otis realized he didn't always understand Mei, especially at odd little moments like this; sometimes he couldn't guess what she was thinking. She silently scooped some rice and asked, "Why are you wearing glasses today?"
"Oh," Otis said, "Ron told me to. He said not wearing glasses when you're nearsighted is bad for your eyes."
