Chapter 7 - Chapter 7:

Moreover, that cobra if used to produce modern antivenom-related biochemical extracts would be extremely valuable. Even if I didn't use it for medical research, I could sell it for a very high price. So of course I wanted to catch it. Who told Captian to keep using that snake pit to threaten me? If you want to defeat an enemy, you catch the leader first. If I caught the king cobra, that entire snake pit wouldn't be scary anymore, right?

Night fell. The night wind blew lightly, and the trees beside the large pit in the backyard rustled, like mournful wails soaked in malice. I swallowed hard, my heart pounding like a drum fearful, yes, but even more excited. I truly feared the venomous snakes inside that deep pit, but inside my cloth bag was a specialized modern chemical repellent formulated from my grandfather's secret research. If I scattered this substance, even the deadliest snakes wouldn't be able to withstand it.

As I got closer to the pit, I heard the snakes hiss, their tongues flicking, the slithering sounds brushing against my ears, making cold dread creep up my spine. I peered into the huge pit and found those venomous snakes staring straight back at me, their eyes cold and bloodthirsty, as though they wanted to devour me alive.

I didn't hesitate anymore. I decisively took out the chemical repellent and sprinkled it down.

Once the venomous snakes came into contact with it, they hurriedly slithered away in panic, some even collapsing into brief paralysis, looking pitiful despite their danger. I quickly took out a rope, tied one end to a rough tree trunk, and fastened the other end around my waist. When everything was secured, I followed the rope and climbed down into the pit. My movements were swift and practiced completely different from the weak, helpless appearance I'd shown before.

But I didn't know that the distant surveillance camera had recorded my every move…

Inside the security monitoring room...

"Holy shit!"

Ronan stared at the camera feed in horror, his eyes wide, as if he couldn't believe what he was seeing.

"What the hell are you yelling for? Want to die?"

Hunter snapped irritably, awakened from sleep by Ronan's scream.

Ronan pointed at the surveillance screen, still so stunned he stuttered.

"H-Hunter… I just realized… this woman is not the innocent type at all… she actually dared to climb into the snake pit…"

"What woman? Who are you thinking about now, huh?" Hunter frowned. Middle of the night and this idiot was thinking about women, truly shameless.

"No! I'm not! I'm talking about Miss Bailey, she went into the snake pit!"

Ronan licked his lips nervously and pointed at the screen again, the shock still evident on his face.

Hunter frowned deeper. "She went to the snake pit for what? To feed them?"

He walked over dismissively, but when he actually saw the footage, he froze too completely stunned.

On screen, the weak little girl they knew was scooping handfuls of the chemical repellent into the massive pit. The venomous snakes recoiled in fear, retreating again and again. And then, she courageously advanced, following the rope and climbing down.

And that wasn't the end!

Even more unbelievable, I picked up the king cobra inside the pit, stuffed it into my cloth bag, slung the bag on my back, grabbed the rope, and climbed out of the pit again. My movements were clean, quick, and decisive completely different from the fragile girl they had seen days ago.

"I don't even dare go near that place, but she not only dared, she caught President Anderson's king cobra!"

Ronan shuddered and couldn't help complaining.

Hunter stared at the security screen, still shocked.

"I wouldn't dare either…"

Those venomous snakes were terrifying. A single bite meant severe venom exposure treatment delayed by a few seconds and there would be no saving the victim. Even grown men wouldn't casually go into that pit, but I, a "little girl," climbed in fearlessly. It truly broadened their horizons.

"I thought she was a little white rabbit…" Ronan muttered. The scene before his eyes shattered every impression he had of me.

A long while later, Hunter finally exhaled.

"She's definitely not a little white rabbit… If she were, she would have collapsed already after seeing President Anderson kill someone. But she not only faced him, she even dared to talk to him."

"And even compared President Anderson to a dog."

Ronan nodded wholeheartedly, eyes dazed with admiration.

"Impressive. My Miss Bailey is truly impressive!"

The footage continued. I was carefully walking toward a corner of the villa, a spot that looked absolutely safe and hidden, a place most people would never find. But I didn't know that every corner of this villa was equipped with cameras, so nothing I did escaped their eyes.

On screen, I gripped the cobra at the vulnerable point behind its head, dragging it out like a lifeless animal. Then I took out a small surgical knife from my cloth bag. The sharp gleam of the blade flashed across the monitor, making Ronan's jaw drop.

"She even carries a knife… No, what is she planning to do to the cobra?"

The moment he finished speaking, the screen showed me raising the blade and striking down. The king cobra, usually so majestic, was instantly cut into several pieces. Perhaps due to the pain, its severed body segments wriggled pitifully.

Then I skillfully extracted the bile sac my actions smooth like flowing water, without a moment of hesitation.

Seeing this, the playful expression vanished from Ronan's face. His eyes filled with suspicion.

"Hunter… how can a delicate lady know how to kill a snake and be this skilled at it?"

Hunter narrowed his eyes.

"It's definitely strange."

"So what do we do now?" Ronan asked uneasily.

They were furious that the cobra was killed and wanted to teach me a lesson but they also felt I was way too capable.

"We wait for President Anderson to return," Hunter said calmly.

"She's his woman. Whether he wants to skin her or praise her, we don't get to decide."

I had no idea any of this was happening. I was still happily admiring the freshly extracted cobra bile. It was valuable, so of course I liked it. I hummed softly as I cleaned up the mess. After handling everything, I dusted off my hands and walked away.

Late at night, Captian returned, carrying the chill of the outside air. When he left earlier, he'd been full of vigor; now he looked exhausted. His subordinates had caused trouble, their dirty dealings dragging the company into repeated losses. He'd held back his anger long enough, tonight, he'd finally dealt with them.

Frustrated, he rubbed his temples and was just about to return to his room when he noticed Ronan standing in the hallway.

"President Anderson."

"What is it?" Captian's thin lips lifted slightly, his voice low and hoarse.

"President Anderson, I have something good to show you," Ronan said respectfully.

Captian raised an eyebrow. "What?"

Ronan hesitated, worried he wouldn't explain it clearly.

"Please come with me to the surveillance room."

The lights in the room were dim. Hunter was reviewing the footage from earlier. When Captian entered, Hunter immediately stood up.

"President Anderson."

Captian waved a hand, expression unreadable.

"What do you two want to show me?"
