Chapter 8 - Chapter 8:

Ronan turned on the surveillance screen, and a beautiful, seductive figure quickly appeared. With just one glance, Captian recognized that the silhouette was Rosy. Even through the screen, he could tell that the woman was a top-tier beauty, yet that top-tier woman had quietly infiltrated his snake pit, dragged out the king cobra, expertly killed it, and extracted its bile. Every one of her movements was extremely precise, and even through the monitor he could feel the cold sharpness of the surgical blade in her hand. It seemed she was a master snake hunter…

Captian stared fixedly at the screen, his expression darkening rapidly. In those pitch-black eyes appeared a vicious, predatory look wolf-like, tiger-like sending chills down the spine. The temperature in the surveillance room visibly dropped. Ronan and Hunter shivered unconsciously, rubbing their arms. This was President Anderson's fury and it was terrifying.

Ronan licked the corner of his lips nervously and cautiously said,

"President Anderson, Miss Bailey actually dared to kill your pet king cobra, she's really too bold!"

Captian raised an eyebrow, signaling him to continue.

"President Anderson, however you want to deal with this woman, just give the order. As long as you say it, we brothers will handle everything neatly for you," Ronan said with a flattering smile.

Captian's eyes shifted slightly, his dark pupils bottomless, unreadable. Ronan and Hunter exchanged a glance; both wanted to know how he planned to deal with the woman.

Meanwhile, the surveillance footage continued playing. The woman's perfect figure and smooth movements replayed again and again before Captian's eyes. He licked the corner of his lips lightly; the vicious, sinister look in his gaze receded slightly, replaced by a twisted fascination and warped delight. He stared intensely at her beautiful face on the screen before finally speaking:

"Dig up the king cobra's body she buried for me."

Ronan was stunned.

Wait, what did President Anderson just say?

Dig up the snake's body? Not Rosy's? She had killed his pet king cobra!

"President Anderson, just dig the body up? We're not punishing her?" Ronan reckless as always asked.

"Keep her for now."

The corner of Captian's lips curved upward.

"Interesting, isn't it?"

Then he turned and left the surveillance room, his black coat slicing through the air like a cold blade. As he left, he carried all the chill in the room with him.

Ronan and Hunter looked at each other, completely unsure of what Captian was thinking. In the past, anyone who dared half as much would have died instantly. But this woman…

Wow. She was something else.

...

Rosy's POV:

I had no idea I had just stepped past the gates of hell.

Last night I slept deeply, and when I woke up, my face felt hot, making me look strangely young and innocent. I opened the wardrobe; inside were rows of beautiful limited-edition dresses from various luxury brands, all in pastel pink, all lacey and frilly.

I heard Captian had ordered these. Typical straight-man aesthetic. Was he planning to turn me into a doll? But I didn't dare disobey him, so I endured and put on the pink dress.

Mrs. Lauren Bailey once said something that I thought was true that when she lived in the countryside, she didn't have nice clothes, but thanks to the Baileys' "blessing," she got to enjoy everything. Except that kind of "enjoyment" came with fear… even death.

I adjusted the hem of my dress and prepared to go out for breakfast. But the moment I stepped outside my room, I noticed everyone in the villa was busy, gathered around the flower garden as if they were searching for something.

I pulled out a chair and sat down.

"Nanny Alley, what are they doing?" I asked.

"They're looking for the king cobra," she replied, placing a glass of milk into my hands.

My fingers trembled slightly.

"The king cobra? Don't tell me they already noticed it's missing?"

Thinking I didn't know the situation, she explained,

"It's the king cobra from the snake pit. It's President Anderson's pet."

I set the milk down, trying hard to suppress my unease and pretend to be calm.

"Wasn't it in the snake pit? Why is it missing?"

"Oh, it disappears often," Alley said casually while wiping the table. "We just need to find it."

"So that's how it is…" I muttered.

Last night I was so pleased with the bile I collected I didn't expect them to discover the disappearance so quickly.

Thankfully, that king cobra already had a history of "escaping" several times. If they searched and couldn't find it, they would probably assume it slipped away to some hidden corner like always. Surely no one would suspect that I killed it, right?

I was just a weak little girl with no strength, who would suspect me?

Feeling relieved, I relaxed and finished my milk.

Glancing at the table, I noticed several dishes laid out. I licked away the milk on my lip and asked,

"Who are these dishes prepared for?"

"For President Anderson, of course," Alley said.

My body trembled; I almost dropped my milk.

"President Anderson… came back last night?"

"Ronan's group said he returned at dawn. He looked exhausted," Alley replied while placing another glass of milk at Captian's seat.

I remembered his dark expression last night when he took that phone call. Something must have happened at the company.

"Oh…" I responded nonchalantly, sipping my milk.

Last night I slept like the dead, completely unaware he returned at dawn. Thank goodness he didn't barge into my room… or I might have died from fright.

Lost in thought, I didn't even notice when Captian appeared before me.

"What are you thinking about?" he asked, leaning down. His warm breath brushed my ear.

A shiver ran through me, I almost screamed, but I barely managed to keep calm.

"So scared just seeing me?" he laughed mockingly at my startled reaction.

I looked up and met his calm, unreadable gaze. My heart skipped, but I forced a sweet smile.

"I'm not scared. President Anderson is so handsome, why would I be afraid?"

He chuckled, but it was laced with sarcasm.

I twisted my fingers nervously, my mind a tangled mess.

Captian pulled out a chair and sat across from me, staring straight into my eyes.

"Really? Then why are you nervous?"

That moment, his stare suffocated me. There was no way to hide the panic tightening inside my chest. Still, I held on, kept my sweet smile, and said:

"I'm not nervous at all."
