That very night, Ruby decided to run away.
Her escape plan was simple. Making use of the dead of night, when absolute darkness descended, she would wait until all the servants retreated to rest before slipping out of the window.
Her bedroom was located on the second floor of the mansion. Outside her window, she could see a long, winding path of blood-red roses stretching out toward the far west.
This would be the choice of her escape route – the Thorn's Garden of Roses. It was one of the restricted areas they were all forbidden to cross.
However, as the saying went, sometimes, the most dangerous place could be the safest place.
If no one was allowed inside, then naturally, no one would be there to catch her once she was gone.
Ruby hadn't even bothered to pack anything before she jumped out of the window. She had only changed into a midnight-black pajama set for effective concealment.
