POV Julius
Oh. My. God! This is so fucking boring! How long am I going to be stuck here!?
I couldn't help but groan out loud. The moment I passed out after my fight with Alastor, I ended up here. For a fucking week! Nothing but an empty dark abyss. I looked down at myself and noticed once again I was back in my old body.
My old, insanely average body. One that was slightly paler, shorter, and plumper than my precious current body.
"Seems you really love your demon body, don't you?"
"Of course I do. I-."
I stopped talking as I heard the voice that just spoke behind me.
Before I could turn around, a pair of arms wrapped around me from behind, Boobs pressed against my back as her arms gently stroked my chest.
"Makima? Is that you? Why are you behind me!?" I asked as I tried to look behind me but couldn't, causing anxiety to swell within me.
"Shh." Makima whispered. "You do not have to worry, my dear Julius. I am here for you."
"And how are you here exactly?" I asked. This should be my subconscious, right? How is Makima here?
"No need to think to yourself. I know what you are thinking because we are connected." Makima snapped her fingers and chains suddenly manifested and wrapped around me. Causing me to panic more!
I pushed myself off Makima and quickly rushed forward before freezing as I turned to look at her. Makima stood there with a simple smile on her face. The same chains that were wrapped around me were also wrapped around her, making it look as if we were chained together. Similar chains existed from her back and stretched out into the dark void behind her.
I could feel sweat dripping down my temple. Those chains look an awful lot like those used when owning the souls of others.
"Uh, could you explain what these are?" I asked, tugging on the chains wrapped around me. I took a deep breath to calm myself down. Now that I think about it, don't these chains look similar? They kind of look like mine, but not exactly. The color of purple was ever so slightly lighter, maybe a matte purple instead of my cosmic purple? These chains also had tinges of gold within them. Something that mine didn't have.
"Of course." Makima said. Her simple smile turned soft and caring. "These chains are from deals I make. Due to my "agreement" with your system, my "powers" have been altered a bit. Usually, I could control those things I view beneath me. Forcing them into deals that allow me to control them and use their powers."
Makima walked up to me slowly. "But now, I essentially need to make deals to have the same effect. Though," Makima reached me, grabbing the chains that were on me and bringing my face closer to hers. "I can't exactly control you."
Wow, she is hot! NO! *Slaps self*. Stop that! Think with your proper head and not your second one, Julius!
First off, wow. Just wow. You know, given that under companions she has "Control Devil" next to her name, I should have figured she would try to control me. Of course, my dumbass was thinking with the wrong head when we first met! I guess it's good that she can't control me.
Second, now that I know she needs to make deals to control others, I must warn Carmilla and the others not to make any deals with her. I don't know why she can't control me, but the same couldn't be said about those I care about. I can't afford to have her try to circumvent our deal by controlling those I care about!
"I should remind you once again that I know what you are thinking right?" Makima softly chuckled out loud.
God, just kill me now. How, in THE FUCK, could I be so stupid!? Maybe-
"You are doing it again, Julius."
*Sigh* "Please don't make any deals with those I care about, Makima. I would really appreciate it."
"I will not promise anything."
"*Sigh* You want to make a deal involving that, don't you? Wont that just make it easier for you to control me?"
Makima laughed and softly spoke to me as she walked behind me and hugged me again.
"Let me help you ease your worries. Unless allowed, I can't control you. While controlling you was the first thing I tried to do when getting here, I stopped trying after that failed. Now, I simply want what is best for you. After all," She stopped and turned me around to face her, tugging on the chains that were wrapped around herself. "We are connected. And if anything happens to you, I will be affected as well. So, no matter how many deals we make, I will never be able to control you."
After she finished speaking, she ruffled my short hair before a simple purple throne seat that matched her chains appeared. She sat down and crossed her legs as she rested her chin on her right fist. The chains coming from her back merged into the throne seat.
"Take all the time you need to think about what I said."
She finished speaking and looked at me while the smile on her face never changed. Maybe she finally won't try to interrupt my inner monologue now! Hahaha!
Ok, seriously though. Time to think about this. For one, she can't control me because we are connected. While that is reassuring, how does that work? And what does that mean exactly? Does she mean our souls are connected?
Next, is she able to use my powers? Makima did mention she's able to use the powers of those she controls. While it seems she can only control people she has deals with, since we are connected, do I count as an exception? Imagining Makima with Limitless and the Super Saiyan transformation sounds terrifying and hot as hell!
Honestly, it makes sense why she's considered a Mythic Rank. She technically has infinite potential and powers depending on the people she controls. I should probably keep a closer eye on her. Maybe try to actively get closer to her. Yeah, getting closer to her sounds like a great idea!
Not because she's super attractive and would be down to fuck! Totally not because of that!
I take a couple of deep breaths to focus my mind. Begone horny thoughts!
"Hey, Makima?"
"Yes Julius?"
"How about we make another deal? What would you like in exchange for not making any deals with those I am close to?"
Makima tapped her chin a bit, looking upwards as if in thought. A minute goes by before she stands up and walks towards me.
"I will agree to not make deals with those you care about if you make me your girlfriend!" Makima said with enthusiasm that I have never seen her express before.
That's suspicious as hell! She knows what I am thinking and knows that I was thinking of getting closer to her. So why is her part of the deal so, underwhelming? I can't exactly describe what I'm currently feeling. I mean, wouldn't the Control Devil want something more useful out of this deal than being my girlfriend?
Not saying I wouldn't be ok with her being my girlfriend, because I totally would! I just don't understand why is all.
"Simple." Makima said as she once again read my thoughts. "How do you feel about Carmilla and your two other girlfriends?"
"I love her! As well as Clara and Odette. And I will do whatever it takes to make sure nothing bad happens to them!" I said with raw, aggressive passion as I clenched my hands into fists!
"And what about Charlie and the others at her hotel?"
"Aha, ehh. While I may have some feelings for Charlie that make me want to be more than friends with her, I mainly consider myself friends with her and Vaggie. While I haven't talked much to the others, I feel I'm close enough with them as well (except Alastor). So, I'll also do whatever it takes to protect them as well!"
"And that is what I want from you."
"What, protection?"
Makima chuckled as she wrapped her arms around my neck. "No, silly. I want you to love and cherish me! The way you love and cherish others. To care as deeply as you do about those closest to you. To protect them no matter what harm may come your way."
She proceeded to walk behind me again and whispered into my ear. A soft, rhythmic echo slightly appeared behind every word she spoke that seemed to resonate with my soul. Making my heart slowly beat faster and faster.
"The love you have for those you don't want to lose. The passion and drive to make sure that what happened to the person closest to you never happens again. I can make that happen. With me by your side, you won't ever have to worry about losing Carmilla and the others. Like how you lost your mother."
I could feel my eye twitch a bit as my breathing became labored. My chest felt tighter. As if the chains around my chest were squeezing me. My vision became blurry as the only thing I could focus on were the words Makima spoke to me.
"With ME as your partner, everything will be ok. I can help guide you to become stronger. To become better. To have the power you NEED to protect ME and the others. To ensure what happened to your mother will NEVER, EVER happen again."
Makima appeared in front of me again. Her smile was so gentle, so sincere, and so caring. A smile that reminded me of my mother. A smile that I desperately wanted to protect.
"So," Makima said softly, reaching her hand out to me. "What do you say? Let's make this official. Trust ME, and as your partner, I will make what you DESIRE a reality."
To protect those I love and cherish, huh. To make sure nothing happens to those I care about. To make what I desire a reality. The more I thought about it, the faster my heartbeat quickened. My hands bled as my nails pierced the skin of my tightening fists.
The memory of Adam's words flashed through my mind. Of him threatening to torture Carmilla, Clara, and Odette in front of me.
A memory from my life when I was alive resurfaced. A memory I desperately tried to forget but always resurfaced from time to time. The memory of my mother's gentle and caring smile as I held her lifeless and bloodied body in my arms.
"To keep the promise I made that day after the promise I couldn't keep to my mother."
I looked Makima in the eye. I hardly noticed that my body changed back to my demonic form. Fierce determination ran through me as my power surged wildly as I shook Makima's hand.

As the notification from the system disappeared, Makima yanked my hand and used the chains that were on me to bring my face down to hers. The moment our lips touched, my body immediately relaxed. All the tension leaving my body. Replaced with feelings of longing and need.
Our deep yet gentle kiss went on for what felt like forever before our lips part. Makima's expression looked genuinely happy as she held my cheek with her hand before bringing me into a hug.
"This shall be the beginning of something magnificent. With me by your side, you shall reach heights you never thought possible. And once you do, those you love and cherish shall forever be protected. That, I promise."
