Rin learnt and revised all the books her father had. She knew she had to pass the exam if she wanted to leave her misery in the house. the days went fast that it surprised Rin . Nature, when it was during bad times, the day goes very slow but know that she has gotten a glimmer of hope to get herself out of the misery, the day's going fast. Rin just shook her head at the thought of this. She knew she had to do this and moreover , she was praying that her mother would not be in the house on that fateful day. Unfortunately , she was in the house live and colored. Rin knew she had to do something to avoid any suspicions. After thinking thoroughly , she finally got the perfect idea .
'Ma , I'm going to the market to sell the produce. The herbs are dying and Old Li said he out of medicinal herbs' , Rin rapped . Her mother was busily sorting out her accessories . What is with this woman and beautiful looks. It seems they are best friends. Rin thought . ' Do whatever you want, just don't disturb me', Lotus muttered. Rin was very happy but did not show it. She rushed out , changed into the most decent dress she had which was tattered and cleaned herself. She still remembered the way to the school. She was extremely nervous and she could feel it. Immediately she got to the school, all eyes were on her like she had two horns on her head. She was late so she hurried to the class for the exam. When she entered the class, as expected they had already began. The invigilator was the homeroom teacher, Miss Yun. 'Are you here to write the recruitment exam?' , she asked sweetly. Rin simply nodded. She could feel the weight of everyone's eyes on her. Miss Yun handed her exam paper and showed her a place to sit. Kian noticed her and looked at her , his face expressionless. Their eyes met and tension snapped between them like a pulled wire. This made Rin shift uncomfortably in her seat as awkward tightness crept up her spine.
Rin remembered her father's words,' Rin , never forget that bad days won't last forever. If you are having a bad day , think about the good days and you would be fine'. Rin felt calm and composed and began writing the exam . It was composed of three parts; Alchemy , history and general knowledge. Alchemy was not a problem. She felt she had learnt too much for the exam. It was basics for her. History was not really a problem. Once again, she realized , the fairy tales her father had been telling were legends. She felt so stupid at that point . General knowledge was not as easy as the first two but she managed to pull it off. There was a question that inquired the highest rank in the cultivation journey. Rin honestly did not know but she remembered a story her dad once told her about a wandering immortal who was very powerful. In the cultivation word he was the strongest and a saint.' Saint , saint', Rin thought . So the answer she placed there was saint rank. She needed to hurry and get home before her mother figured out she was gone for long. The time was not up but Rin submitted her paper anyway. People stared at her with disdain. ' Showoff', Rin heard someone mutter under the breath. 'She would not pass anyway why are you bothered' , someone added. Rin was hurt by their words but shrugged it off. 'Quiet!' , Miss Yun ordered. The class became quiet and they resumed their work. Rin rushed to the house like someone shady was chasing her. She resumed her work like nothing had happened.
Rin was surprised that Kian did not tell their mother anything about the exam and her participating in it. A week passed and the results were out. Rin was nervous like hell as she made her way to the school. When she entered the school, once again every one was looking at her . She ignored their looks and made her way to the notice board. The people that passed were Kian and her . She was happy but did not show it. 'Rin, come over here' , Miss Yun waved . Rin walked to the smiling teacher. Miss Yun was smiling like she had hit the jackpot. 'I am so proud of you , we are going to the principals office . I knew you could do it' , she rumbled . She entered the principal's office. There was a man that looked he was from a noble family sitting beside the principal. Miss Yun left after she greeted them . 'You must be Rin' , the man said in a calm voice . He looked like he was in his thirties dressed in a pure white cloak. 'Yes , I I I a a am ' , Rin stammered . 'Don't be scared , you are a prodigy. I am inviting to be a member of the Alchemist's Guild' , the man said. Rin said nothing. 'If I may ask , who teaches you alchemy ?', the man asked after he received no response from Rin . Rin remained silent. The man realized she did not want to say anything . 'I am Nolan , an elder in the guild . If you need help with anything , I will gladly help' , he finally said and handed her an envelope. Rin opened it . It had her admission letter to The Academy , her student ID , a letter requesting her to join the guild and her membership card that shows that she's a member . Rin bowed in respect , muttered a thanks and exited the principal's office. She took anything regarding the guild out of the envelope and placed it in her pocket. She rushed to the house , dug a hole and placed the guild's stuff in it . She placed the others under her bed.
She resumed her work in a joyous mood. Her mother would find out about her admission very soon since gossip spread like wildfire in the village. It was evening and the stars lit up the dark sky giving it a beautiful look. Rin stared at it from the kitchen's window . She was doing the dishes when her mother came to the village holding up a brown envelope for Rin to see.
Rin began panicking , the look on her mother's face was something else. It screamed , I will definitely make you regret you came to this world. Rin began preparing her mind for the worst as she followed her mother a slave to the hall. This time she knew she was doomed.
