Clair's eyes were still fixed on Bright's as she spoke to Mr. Ming on the phone. Bright could sense the tension in her voice, and he knew something was wrong. The sound of murmured conversation and rustling papers filled the air, punctuated by the occasional beep of a machine in the background.
As Clair finished the call, Bright's eyes met hers. "What's going on?" he asked, his voice low and concerned.
Clair's expression was somber, her brow furrowed in worry. "Your father is on his way to the office. He wants to talk to us about Li Wei's proposition."
Bright's mind was racing. What did Li Wei want? And what did it have to do with his father's company? He felt a shiver run down his spine as he thought about the implications.
Just as Clair was about to say something else, Bright's phone buzzed. He glanced at the screen and saw an unknown number. His heart skipped a beat as he answered, his voice cautious. "Bright James."
The voice on the other end was low and gravelly, sending a chill down Bright's spine. "Bright, I have information about your father's murder. Meet me at the old warehouse on 5th Street at midnight if you want to know the truth."
The line went dead, and Bright's eyes locked with Clair's. He felt a surge of adrenaline as he processed the message.
"What is it?" Clair asked, her voice low and urgent.
Bright's expression was grim. "It was a man. He said he has information about my father's murder."
Clair's eyes widened in shock. "What? Who was it?" Her voice was barely above a whisper, but Bright could hear the urgency in her tone.
Bright's jaw clenched. "I don't know, but I'm going to find out." He felt a sense of determination wash over him, mixed with a hint of fear.
Clair's expression was worried. "Bright, be careful. We don't know who this is or what they want."
Bright nodded, his mind racing. "I will, I promise. But I have to do this, Clair. I have to know the truth."
The two of them sat in silence for a moment, the only sound the beeping of the machines and the hum of the hospital.
Finally, Clair spoke up. "I'll go with you."
Bright shook his head. "No, it's too dangerous. I'll go alone."
Clair's expression was firm. "I'm going with you, Bright. We can take Victor and some of the security team with us. We'll be safe."
Bright hesitated, unsure of what to do. Part of him wanted to go alone, to protect Clair and keep her safe. But another part of him knew that having her with him would be a huge comfort.
"Okay," he said finally. "But we're going to be careful, got it?"
Clair nodded, a small smile on her face. "Got it."
As they started making plans, Bright couldn't shake the feeling that this was just the beginning of something big. Something that could change his life forever.
The clock on the wall read 2 PM. They had 10 hours to go before the meeting. Bright's mind was racing, his heart pounding with anticipation.
What would they find at the warehouse? Who was the mysterious caller? And what did they know about his father's murder?
The questions swirled in his mind, keeping him on edge. He knew he had to stay focused, to keep his wits about him. But it was hard, knowing that the truth was just a few hours away.
As the hours ticked by, Bright's anxiety grew. He knew he had to stay calm, to keep a clear head. But it was hard, knowing that his life was about to change forever.
Bright's phone buzzed again, breaking the silence. It was Victor. "Hey, Bright, I've got some news. Can we meet up?"
Bright's eyes met Clair's. "Where are you?" he asked Victor.
"I'm at the office, going through some files. I think I've found something interesting."
Bright's eyes narrowed. "What is it?"
Victor's voice was low. "I think Li Wei's company is involved in some shady dealings. I need to show you the evidence."
Bright's jaw clenched. "Get it ready. We're on our way."
As he hung up, Clair's eyes met his. "What is it?"
Bright's expression was grim. "Victor thinks he's found something. Let's go."
The two of them quickly got out of the hospital, Victor meeting them at the office. As they drove, Bright couldn't shake the feeling that they were getting close to the truth. But he knew they had to be careful. Li Wei's men could be watching, waiting to strike.
When they arrived at the office, Victor was waiting for them, a stack of papers in his hand. "I've got the evidence, Bright. Li Wei's company is involved in some major money laundering."
Bright's eyes scanned the papers, his mind racing. This was it. They had the proof they needed.
But as he looked up, he saw something that made his heart skip a beat. A small camera lens, hidden in the corner of the room.
They were being watched.
Bright's eyes met Clair's, and he knew she saw it too. They had to get out of there, and fast.
"Let's go," he said, his voice low. "We need to get to the warehouse and get this information to the police."
As they rushed out of the office, Bright knew they were running out of time. Li Wei's men could be on their way, and they had to be ready.
The game was on, and Bright was ready to play.
As they drove to the warehouse, Bright's mind was racing. What would they find there? Would they finally get the answers they were looking for?
He glanced over at Clair, who was sitting beside him, her eyes fixed on the road. He knew she was thinking the same thing. They were in this together, and they would see it through to the end.
The warehouse loomed ahead, its dark and ominous presence sending a shiver down Bright's spine. He knew that this was it. This was the moment of truth.
As they pulled up to the warehouse, Bright's eyes scanned the area. There were no cars, no signs of life. But he knew they were being watched.
"Stay close," he whispered to Clair, as they got out of the car.
Victor nodded, his eyes scanning the area. "I've got your back, Bright."
Together, the three of them approached the warehouse, their hearts pounding with anticipation. The door creaked open, and Bright stepped inside, his eyes adjusting to the darkness.
And then, he saw him. A figure, standing in the shadows.
"Welcome, Bright," the figure said, its voice low and gravelly. "I've been waiting for you."
Bright's eyes narrowed. Who was this? And what did they want?
The figure stepped forward, into the light. And Bright's heart stopped.
It was Li Wei.
"You're the one who's been calling me," Bright said, his voice steady.
Li Wei smiled, his eyes glinting with amusement. "I have information about your father's murder, Bright. And I'm willing to share it with you. But first, you have to do something for me."
Bright's eyes narrowed. What did Li Wei want? And what was he willing to do to get it?
The game was on, and Bright was ready to play.
