Opening ceremonies are always boring.
On the stage, one leader after another took the microphone to give their long speeches about their hopes for the students. No student likes this part. It's basically like a live lullaby.
Katsuragi Ren took this chance, with the whole grade gathered in the gym, to check out the four first-year classes. It was no surprise, just as he thought: top, middle, bottom, and inferior.
After getting a good look at the four homeroom teachers, Katsuragi Ren slowly closed his eyes. He tried to sleep through the boring speeches.
After some time, the word "dismissed" finally came from the stage. Everyone relaxed.
"Katsuragi-sama, Honami and the others decided to go out to eat and get to know each other. Do you want to come?" Ryūji Kanzaki came over to ask Katsuragi Ren.
Because of his speech in class, everyone jokingly called him "Katsuragi-sama." He didn't get angry, so the nickname stuck.
"Sorry, I have something to do. Have fun." Katsuragi Ren refused. He just got to the school and still had things to check. It was also time to have some fun for himself.
After leaving the gym, Katsuragi Ren found a general store and bought a thin blanket and a recording pen. He then walked down the street, looking for a target.
"Hello, senpai." Katsuragi Ren walked up to a third-year student and greeted him.
"What do you want?" The student saw Katsuragi Ren holding a thin blanket and could tell he was a new student, so he replied rudely.
Katsuragi Ren didn't care. He stated his purpose: "Senpai, would you be willing to sell me the rules of this school?"
"What are you talking about! I don't know." As expected, he was refused. This confirmed that upperclassmen and teachers had a gag order.
"Fifty thousand points for the school rules." Katsuragi Ren took out his student card, showed his points, and gave his price.
"What are you... I don't know what you're saying..." His voice trailed off. It looked like the senpai was still refusing, but his tone was shaking. This was working. He could offer a higher price.
"Eighty thousand points. We can make the deal over there. There are no cameras, senpai." Katsuragi Ren didn't waste time and directly offered more.
"Fine. Let's talk over there." The senpai couldn't resist the 80,000 points. He agreed to the deal and followed Katsuragi Ren into an alley with no cameras.
Katsuragi Ren transferred the 80,000 points immediately to show he was serious.
"Every class has class points, which decide the monthly personal points."
"The 100,000 points for new students are a one-time thing. After this, the points you get on the first of the month depend on class points. The ratio is 1 class point to 100 personal points."
"The school has special exams, and the results raise or lower class points. The first special exam for new students is based on student conduct."
"Only Class A gets the job guarantee. Other classes just graduate and don't get the 100% employment rate from the brochure."
"Your homeroom teacher has more power than you think."
"It costs 20 million personal points to move yourself or someone else to Class A."
"That's all." Because Katsuragi Ren had paid so quickly, the senpai told him everything he knew.
"I see. Thank you, senpai."
The senpai saw the deal was done and turned to leave, but Katsuragi Ren stopped him. "Senpai, please wait!"
"What else?" The senpai was getting impatient. He figured the new student regretted spending 80,000 points after learning they were a one-time thing. But a deal was a deal. He wasn't going to be nice and give the points back.
"Senpai, you just extorted 80,000 points from a new student. Aren't you going to give me some compensation?" Katsuragi Ren was smiling, but his words were like a devil's.
"What do you mean!" The senpai looked like he'd seen a ghost. What extortion? Katsuragi Ren was the one who offered the deal.
"There are no cameras here. I'm a new student, and you're an upperclassman. Me suddenly transferring 80,000 points to you looks very suspicious, doesn't it? So, that's extortion," Katsuragi Ren explained.
"You know there are no cameras here, too." Seeing that Katsuragi Ren knew there were no cameras and was still trying to blackmail him, the senpai cracked his knuckles, trying to scare him.
...
Pow!
"Don't... don't hit me! I was wrong! I'll give you the points back!" The senpai was lying on the ground, begging for mercy. He couldn't believe this thin-looking kid was so strong. One punch almost made him sick.
"Then thank you, senpai." Katsuragi Ren held his student card out.
(Received: 80,000 points)
Katsuragi Ren looked at the transfer and gave a devilish smile. "Senpai, that's wrong. You made a mistake. It was 800,000 points."
"You...!"
Pow!
(Received: 300,000 points)
Looks like these seniors aren't as rich as I thought. Katsuragi Ren thought to himself as he watched the senpai, with a look of pure pain, transfer all the points from his card.
"Then thank you, senpai." It seemed the senpai was really scared. To stop Katsuragi Ren from demanding more, he had even transferred the remaining small amount.
Katsuragi Ren reached down and took his thin blanket back from the senpai. He waved to him, as if to say, "Nice doing business with you."
As he was about to leave the alley, Katsuragi Ren seemed to remember something. He turned back. "Senpai, don't even think about reporting me for violence. You don't have a single injury on you. I look forward to our next meeting."
"What... of course not! I wasn't thinking that!" The senpai, who had been planning to go straight to the Student Council President, quickly denied it. He really didn't want to get hit again.
When he heard the second half of Katsuragi Ren's words, the senpai was stunned. He quickly checked his body. He checked over and over. He could still feel the pain clearly where he'd been hit, but there wasn't a single mark. He was truly scared now. He'd just have to accept his bad luck.
Katsuragi Ren left the alley and looked for his next target. He had to do this quickly before the senpai warned his friends. He walked up to a new target, still holding the thin blanket, and tapped him on the shoulder. When the person turned around, Katsuragi Ren gave a friendly smile.
"Hello, senpai."
