Chapter 24 - Chapter 24: The Bait

The farce in the gym did not significantly affect anyone's mood, and daily life returned to calm.

However, Honami Ichinose, who was widely connected, soon learned the identity of the senior on the stage: the Student Council President, Manabu Horikita.

As soon as she received this news, Honami Ichinose immediately found Ren and told him everything she knew.

After all, Ren was the first to lead the departure, and she was slightly worried that the Student Council President might be petty and make trouble for Ren later.

Hearing her concern, Ren found it amusing. He ruffled Honami's beautiful cherry-pink long hair and told her not to worry.

No special accidents occurred during this period, and Honami Ichinose finally relaxed.

Time flew by quickly, and soon it was the end of the month.

In the tea room of the teacher's office.

Ren, Chie Hoshinomiya, and Rokusuke Kōenji formed a three-way standoff, each sitting on a sofa, holding a hot cup of tea.

Chie Hoshinomiya's eyes sparkled as she stared intently at Ren, who was still sipping his hot tea.

Her tight grip on the teacup showed that her internal state was not as calm as her exterior.

Leaning back on the sofa, Rokusuke Kōenji took out his dedicated narcissistic mirror and combed his perfectly styled golden hair, admiring himself in isolation.

He seemed unconcerned about the potential failure of Ren's plan, or perhaps he hoped it would fail.

That way, he could mock Ren mercilessly.

Slowly drinking the last sip of his hot tea, Ren took a napkin from the paper box on the coffee table to wipe his mouth. He finally started to act.

A text message containing only a website link was sent without fail to every person's phone on campus.

Those who were puzzled but driven by curiosity extended their fingers to tap the link, opening the strange website full of unknowns without hesitation.

For an unknown website to be circulated in this school, it had to pass the approval of the school's unique S-System. Therefore, no one was afraid that it might be a virus site.

The website was very simple, divided into three large main sections, which were then divided into many small sections, and these small sections were further refined.

The First Year main section was the only one with the betting button lit up, and it was divided into many different betting options.

There was simple class betting, the most straightforward being the promotion bet, the answer to which would be determined by the results of the first monthly class exam tomorrow.

It was divided into questions such as whether Class A could retain the throne, whether Class B could surpass Class A, whether Class C might drop to Class D, and whether Class D could stage an underdog victory and go straight to Class A, etc.

More precise were the score bets, divided into many smaller categories. For example:

0-100

100-200

...

900-1000.

The website clearly stated that all bets must be registered under a real name, which was for the sake of future benefits.

To prevent malicious market manipulation, students could not place bets in their own year's section.

"Tsk, isn't this just trying to get people to gamble and make money out of thin air?" Some people sneered upon seeing this.

The person who launched this website was simply overestimating themselves. Without any credibility, who would buy in?

Looking further down, a prize pool was displayed at the bottom of the website, marked with 10,000,000/20,000,000 points.

There was also a line highlighted in red:

Friendly Reminder: The organizer will contribute 10 million points from their own pocket to the prize pool to congratulate the first lucky winner.

None of the betting categories had explicit odds; the odds were entirely determined by the betting ratio of others.

The organizer would extract ten percent of the winner's earnings to contribute to the prize pool. Once the prize pool reached 20 million points...

A player who had participated in betting, regardless of whether they won or lost, would be randomly selected to receive the "Opportunity to Transfer to Class A."

This lucky winner also had three options:

First Option: The organizer would facilitate their transfer to Class A.

Second Option: Receive a job guarantee from the organizer. Regardless of which class they graduated from in this school, they would get a suitable job at the Katsuragi Group or the Kōenji Group.

Third Option: Directly receive 30 million yen. The organizer would even ensure the currency could be sent directly to the winner's family if requested.

Organizer names: Ren Katsuragi, Rokusuke Kōenji.

In addition, there was an exchange window on the bottom right of the website.

Anyone in the school could directly exchange points for yen through this window at a 1:1 exchange rate. Similar to the "lucky winner" option, the currency could be sent directly to the exchanger's family.

Note: The account registered on the website required a real name, but the account nickname did not, to prevent unnecessary arguments.

Every winning payout extracted would be transparently displayed to ensure everyone could personally witness the accumulation of points in the prize pool.

Ten minutes later, no one had stepped up to be the first to bet on the website.

Rokusuke Kōenji, one of the organizers, looked at the quiet website and mocked Ren: "Katsuragi, it seems you've failed."

Ren glanced lightly at the little lion, Rokusuke Kōenji. He took out his phone and made a call to an "old acquaintance" in front of Kōenji and Chie Hoshinomiya.

"Moshi Moshi, Junior-kun~ Is something the matter?" The call was answered, and Utako Asada's pleasant voice came through.

"Asada Senior, I'd like to ask, how many points do you still have?"

Utako Asada, who was resting on her dorm bed, was slightly stunned. Is Junior-kun calling to borrow money?

Even so, she checked her remaining personal points and honestly replied, "I still have 257,562 points. If Junior-kun needs it, I can transfer all of it to you."

Life is about betting on possibilities. Utako Asada chose to place her entire bet on Ren.

"Senior, did you check the website sent via text message?" Ren smiled after hearing Utako Asada's gamble on him.

It seemed that Utako Asada was qualified to receive this great wealth.

"Ah, not yet, wait a moment... Junior-kun, let me see..."

Utako Asada, who hadn't been interested in the spam text, quickly sat up and rapidly browsed the website.

Ren was not in a hurry. This kind of thing was based on mutual consent. Now, it was up to Utako Asada to understand his subtle hint.

"Moshi Moshi? Junior-kun, are you still there?" Having read all the content, Utako Asada calmed her excited feelings and cautiously asked if Ren was still on the line.

"I am, Asada Senior."

"Junior-kun, what do you need me to do?"

"Take 200,000 points and place them in a few categories you like."

"I understand." Hanging up the phone, Utako Asada began to act.

Turning off the speakerphone, Ren hung up and smiled at Chie Hoshinomiya and Rokusuke Kōenji.

Look. The bait has been laid.
