Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: Am I late?

"Paimon, what do you think Evernight wants to talk to Jean about?" I asked as we left the building.

Paimon shrugged and replied.

"I don't know, maybe she wants to ask Jean out... Anyway, let's go eat already." Paimon said, completely unfazed.

That can't be right? I mean, they've only known each other for over an hour, and I haven't known her for long either, but I'm sure she definitely wouldn't date someone she just met... Right...

"Lumin."

Would she?

"Lumin!"

Although, what chance do I have with her?

"LUMIN!"

"Why are you yelling, Pimon?" I asked, her shout breaking my train of thought.

She sighed. "Lumin, take a look around." she said, which I did.

When did we even sit down at the table?

"Exactly, you didn't notice anything! I tried to get through to you several times, but you were lost in thought, completely oblivious to the world around you." said Paimon.

"Sorry…"

"It's okay, I understand nerves, a change of scenery… Let's just eat." Paimon said enthusiastically.

"I'm not hungry, you can order whatever you want," I said, placing the coins on the table.

"Well, as you wish." she said.

Anyway, I'm not sure what to do now? Am I ready for anything? My goal hasn't changed: I have to find my brother, but somehow it doesn't seem important anymore, as if it's already faded...

But one thing I know for sure: I want Evernight to continue traveling with us, although on the other hand, I'm sure she'll seduce all the women again, and I'm more than sure she doesn't even know it.

"Paimon, Lumin!" we heard Amber shout, seeing us.

"Amber? Are you done patrolling yet?" Paimon asked, tucking into her food.

"Yes, I just got back to town." she said.

"Did you find anything 'suspicious'?" I asked, teasing her a little.

She just laughed, smiling apologetically.

"Just a couple of slimes I dealt with." she replied.

"Anyway, where's Evernight? I thought she'd be with you?" Amber asked.

"Well, she stayed with Jean to talk about something," Paimon said.

"About what?"

I shrugged and answered her.

"We don't know ourselves, Evernight, she didn't tell us."

"I see... By the way, haven't you registered with the Adventurers' Guild yet?" Amber asked.

"Adventurers' Guild?" Paimon and I asked simultaneously.

"Yes, the Adventurers' Guild is an organization that provides adventurer recruitment services. They have many different quests, from killing monsters to gathering alchemical ingredients. And each quest comes with a corresponding reward," Amber said.

"Let's register! The more money we earn, the more food we can buy!" Paimon declared, and I simply rolled my eyes.

Honestly, I wouldn't mind registering with this organization, since it could likely provide various information that would help me find my brother faster.

So, after Paimon finished eating, we headed to the guild, where we registered. The secretary who registered us was quite nice, if a little odd. She had a rather unique name, Katheryne, but her demeanor was a bit mechanical.

We didn't take on any quests yet because we were waiting for Evernight to return. But it was getting dark, and she hadn't shown up yet, so we decided to return to the knights' headquarters.

"Ara-ara, we meet again, cuties." Lisa said when she saw us.

"Good evening, Lisa." I said.

"Lisa, do you know where Evernight is?" Paimon asked.

"That cutie, in bed with Jean," Lisa said.

Huh?

What?

"Lisa, what do you mean?" Paimon asked.

"Well, the last time I checked on her, she was snuggled up to Jean's chest," Lisa replied.

"Oh..." Paimon said quietly.

And I just kept silent...

Did I really miss it?

But I didn't think she was like that...

If only I'd known, I would have been more persistent, and she would have been with me today...

Damn! What are you thinking, Lumin!

Sigh...

"I see, you couldn't have told her we'd be coming tomorrow morning." I said, to which Lisa nodded.

After which, Paimon and I turned around and left to get a hotel room, but I still couldn't get over what I'd heard...

(Lisa's POV)

"Her expression was priceless." I said, and couldn't help but laugh.

Yeah, she misunderstood my words...

Well, I'm sure nothing bad will happen.

"It's a shame Jean already took her." I couldn't help but say with a feigned sigh.

Actually, for some reason, I have a feeling she definitely won't have just one girl in her relationship.

So Jean will have to share, but on the other hand, I have to get there too to taste so many cuties.

Heh-heh...
