Three years ago, when I bought this smartphone, I never thought its voice would haunt me like this.
I dropped the phone many times. Even on the very day I bought it, it fell.
I used it a lot.
In the beginning, when we get a new phone, we take a lot of care of it, but slowly its existence just becomes a necessity, and eventually, the necessity to replace it arises.
This is because it becomes slow, it starts heating up quickly, and there are many other issues.
But no one would ever think that the thought of replacing it would make the phone so angry that it would start speaking. And its voice would be so harsh that it would trouble its owner so much.
In the end, it was what it was.
You don't need to break me it said
Why, you talk a lot and also curse your own master.
Master," it said in its harsh voice, "since when did you become my master?
I bought you, and now you are my slave."
I announced.
"Oi! Oi! Oi! I am not your slave!" It retorted.
"Then who are you?" I asked.
It thought for a moment and then said, "I am the independent phone of an independent country!"
I burst out laughing. "The independent phone of an independent country!" I laughed out loud. "What amusing things you are saying!" I exclaimed.
I stopped laughing abruptly. I took a deep breath and said, "There is no freedom for us. Sure, the country is independent and we have democracy, but still, we are trapped within these four walls. We are trapped in the disease of isolated thoughts. We are trapped in the desire for our hopes to go unfulfilled."
"We are not free. We are slaves."
I looked at the suffering chair, which was spinning around and around.
"Look at this chair, it is also the same. Trapped.
It is longing for a new life. It is tired of doing the same thing every day.
But will it be able to find the life it dreams of, or will it just spend its life like this?
Is its fate also that storeroom where beings that look like it are kept?"
Suddenly, the chair started hitting the door. The chair wanted to go outside.
"If you go outside and someone sees you like this, your life will be in danger anyway," I said.
"But it was still knocking at the door."
I don't know if it heard my voice, or if it just ignored me.
"Are you listening?" I asked.
"It doesn't have ears!" the phone shouted loudly.
"How do you know?" I asked.
"Just as it has legs and can move, but no mouth to speak with! I have a mouth, but no body, that's why I can't walk. If I had a body, I would have run away too! Who stays with you humans?
You are not loyal to anyone.
You fight over every little thing, and your worst habit is that you oppress us, the non-living things that cannot speak! You throw us anywhere, drop us anywhere.
After your work is done, you throw us away considering us trash. You can't even use us properly and yet you call yourselves humans!"
You people don't even spare living beings. You kill animals for their teeth, horns, and meat,"
it said. "You ride them."
"But we also take care of them," I replied.
"What kind of care? Have you ever asked them? Just try talking to them once.
Have you ever tried to Listen to their voices.
"You will find out how much suffering you people inflict upon them."
Indeed, I said with a rueful grin.
"I got up and advanced toward the chair. Noticing me, she recoiled a bit, as if someone had just given her a dose of decorum."
knowing it couldn't see, but perhaps it could feel it.
That's why, I grinned at her."
When I opened the door, it seemed to be against my very wish."
"I tried my best to open it, but my effort was insufficient.
Although, the door didn't like repeatedly opening and closing, so it shut itself.
This was my thought."
"I asked my phone, 'Why doesn't it want to open?' It answered, 'Because door can't let the chair go outside.'"
" 'But why?' "
" 'Because it doesn't want the chair to leave,' it responded."
" 'But why?' " I restated.
" 'It doesn't tell m....' The phone didn't complete its sentence."
"I felt that it wanted me to complete the half-finished sentences, like a person of good sense."
When the entrance wouldn't open for the chair, the chair launched a revolt."
"It quickly backed away, and with a loud CRASH, it slammed right into the door."
I arrested the chair's flight with both hands,
only for it to buck beneath my grip and send me sprawling.
"You piece of useless meat,You can't even get one job done properly, can you?"
It yelled
"I got a slight injury to my head from that fall, and I saw everything around me spinning.
"It was still engaged in its motion.
Perhaps it needed to go through the doorway, out into the world beyond."
"It was shouting at me, but it words were reaching me only as voices (or noise), and I was incapable to translate those sounds into words."
I was completely trapped in a web of thoughts, thinking that hearing voices was a normal phenomenon because I have truly always been hearing them. I was spinning like a chair, I was trapped like that chair, and slowly my eyes closed as well."
I wished to be extricated from that plight.
I felt perplexed, just like that creature.
I managed to say, 'Get me out of it.'"
