Chapter 15 - Chapter 15: The Agreement

"I crossed that line a long time ago, officer." Selina puffed her chest up.

Detective Baltimore squinted his eyes. His gaze dropped to the tattoo on her chest.

Selina blushed and covered her chest. "What are you looking at, officer?!"

"Ummm… I don't want to file a sexual harassment report for you, detective." Cole said.

"Stop thinking so lowly of me!" Alister cleared his throat. "Miss Isles. I was just finding that tattoo of yours very familiar. Is your mother's name Iris, perhaps?"

Selina's brow furrowed. She nodded.

"Sigh." Alister put his gun in the holster. "I am a friend of your mother. I didn't expect that you would also follow your mother's path."

"My mother's path? Can you tell me more, officer?"

"You don't know? Well. We can talk more about it in the station. You will need to sign something if you want to take this path. We will need to take Ms. Rendell's testimony as well so she will be presented.

You can deliver the news to her at the station."

"Thank you so much, officer."

Alister nodded. "Now go. There is an officer outside the door. Tell her about what happened here. She'll know what to do. Me and Officer Cole need to stay here to make sure everything will stay intact."

Selina nodded and left with Mater.

Alister's faze followed closely to the black cat on her shoulder. He rubbed his chin in deep thought.

"Is something wrong with her, detective?" Cole said.

"There isn't anything wrong with Miss Isles. But that cat on her shoulder might not be ordinary." Alister said.

"What do you mean, detective?"

"I'm not quite sure. But people like Miss Isles usually have these types of familiars following them. I won't be surprised if that cat is one of them."

"Familiar?" Cole tilted his head slightly in confusion.

Mater stretched his body on top of Selina's shoulders. Now that the cavalry was here, there probably wouldn't be any further problem.

It was time for him to absorb the remaining two Chaos Stones.

Selina opened the door and saw Carpenter outside.

"Hi, officer…"

Selina told Carpenter about what happened.

"I understand. Thank you for laying the information to me. I must ask you to stay close so that we can escort you to the station for testimony." Carpenter said.

"Of course, officer." Selina nodded.

"Well. I'm going to take a nap." Mater yawned.

Selina noticed Mater's behavior. She gently petted his head and whispered. "You have worked hard, Mr. Mater! You can rest."

Mater rolled his eyes in a smug way and finally closed his eyes. He wasn't actually sleeping but controlling the Chaos Stones inside him to fuse with his blood vessels.

"What a cute cat? How long have you had him?" Carpenter said.

"Umm… 16 hours."

The two Chaos Stones spun around Mater's heart, transforming kilometers of blood vessels into carriers of Chaos and infusing magic into the blood cells.

He had used up one of the three Chaos Stones. The remaining two stones also had their Chaos reduced when he was channeling power from them directly.

The Chaos Stones in his old world provided 200 kilometers of infusion each. Chaos Stones of this world seemed to be in less quality and provided a more diluted Chaos.

The two Chaos Stones only provided 80 kilometers of infusion, making Mater's total conversion to 680 kilometers of blood vessels.

"Hmm… A little bit of the Chaos Stones were used up and they provided 40 kilometers each. A full Chaos Stone probably provides around 50 kilometers of conversion.

The Chaos of this world has much lower quality."

200 kilometers of conversion vs 50 kilometers of conversion. The difference was night and day.

"However, Chaos is much more common in this world. So low quality can easily be compensated with pure amounts alone."

Mater rested in Selina's arm. She stroked him slowly. Her hands were soft and felt extremely good on his fur.

The goth and her black cat sat on the stairway waiting for the police to come.

The Aeliz City Police Department arrived at the scene and quickly established a parameter around the house. Officers came and went. People in hazmat suits rushed into the house.

Selina sat silently watching everything unfolded.

After a while, Mater opened his eyes. He had finished absorbing all of the Chaos Stones. The amount was less than desirable.

"You need to find another case quickly, woman. I am hungry for some wraiths." Mater meowed.

"Wake up, already? You can sleep more, Mr. Mater." Selina scratched Mater's chin.

It felt surprisingly good. No wonder why all cats like to be scratched.

"I'm not that tired." Mater meowed.

Some police officers approached Selina and offered to escort her to the station via the vehicles. Selina wanted to ride her bicycle but it would take a little bit of time to get there.

In the end, the police rode Selina to the station. Her bicycle was carried along in the back of a police van.

The process of the police was much less hassled than Selina imagined. They asked her about what happened and to write it down. She told them what they needed to know and covered the rest.

Selina was smart enough to know what to say so Mater didn't interfere.

He didn't have the chance to either as he was forced to stay at the waiting area.

Selina returned after a while.

"Phew. Everything is done."

"Good. We can finally go home." Mater climbed on Selina's shoulder again.

It was at this time that Mary entered the police station. Officer Cole was the one escorting her.

"Ms. Isles, please follow me." Cole said.

"Of course."

Mary nodded to Selina as a greeting. The three of them and the cat went into Alister's office. Cole gave them two pieces of paper.

"Please read and sign this document first before discussing anything related to the case. Especially you, Ms. Isles.

You can only share what happened to Ms. Rendell after signing."

Selina nodded and looked down at the piece of document.

"Supernatural Containment Order Agreement…" Selina mumbled.

"What is this, officer?" Mary said.

"It is what you need to sign if you want to know more about your brother's fate, Ms. Rendell.

I will leave you two to it then. Detective Baltimore has allowed Ms. Isles to use his office for this personal matter."

Cole walked out of the room and carefully shut the door.

Mary turned to Selina.

"What is happening, Ms. Isles?"

"I found out what actually happened to your brother, Mary. But as the officer said, I can't tell you anything until we sign this."

Mary and Selina both looked down to the documents again. They read the content on it.o
