"By signing this agreement, you agree to the following conditions..."
Selina read the content of the document aloud.
"1. Confidentiality: You shall maintain a strict secrecy of all information related to Non-Corporeal Entity(s).

Mary's hands trembled while reading the SCOA.
"Selina... Is this?"
"I can't tell you anything, Mary. These cops would not be happy about it. But if you want to know the truth behind your brother's death, you must sign the document."
Mary shared a relieved and bitter smile. "I am truly glad, Selina. I have my doubts but I decided to trust you because I can see the fire in your eyes.
The first time we met. When you told me that you wanted to find out the truth for me, I didn't believe you could do it. But I knew you would do anything in your power to achieve it. So I put my trust in you."
Mary pulled Selina over and hugged her. "I just want to say thank you."
"It is what you hired me for, Mary."
"Let's sign the papers."
"Okay."
The two of them quickly signed the documents. Mater observed everything with great interest. The way this world operated seemed a little different than his previous world. People here were more secretive. Maybe they did that because they wanted to keep everyone from panicking.
Either way, Mater did not oppose Selina to join this side of the world. The more she was exposed to the Wraith, or NCE according to the people of this world, the more Mater could hunt.
Mater had a short time surfing the internet but he already learned that in this world, identity and permission were very big things. He needed Selina as a cover to directly come into contact with the NCEs.
The two women went out of the office to find Cole. They're probably going to complete the process and ask for permission to tell Mary what had happened.
Mater was left on the sofa inside Dt. Baltimore's office. The black cat jumped up instantly as he was left alone. Information that you could find on the internet was limited. But a detective of a police department definitely had much more access to confidential files.
Mater approached Alister's computer and put his paws onto the keyboard. He flooded the computer with Chaos and infiltrated the ACPD's system.
Flashes of image and videos appeared on the screen, along with uncountable classified documents, locations, lists.
"Hmmm. Quite a lot of information. Remember it all would be quite difficult. I wonder if I can create a special access door to the system by using Chaos..."
The internet was something his old world didn't have. But there were similar things. The Holy Library of the Holy Order was also a web of ancient and valuable information. It had a different approach in storing information, not the digitalized version of this world. But the concept was similar.
By using the same way he used to infiltrate the Holy Library, Mater successfully left a backdoor inside the ACPD's internal system, allowing him to access this information at any time.
He needed to have another digital device in order to access it but that was the easy part.
Once Mater was done, he quickly jumped back to the sofa and lay down lazily. His eyes were half-opened.
"Time for some actual rest."
The good thing about a cat was that you could literally sleep anywhere at any time and no one would question you about it. Mater intended to use this advantage to the fullest. After all, he was just a cat.
A few hours later. The door clicked open. Mater's black ears perked up and he opened his eyes.
"Thank you for your cooperation, Miss Isles." Alister Baltimore walked into the room.
Cole, Carpenter, and Selina were behind him.
"Miss Rendell has given us a small sum of money to transfer to you. Considering you have been a great help to the investigation, the ACPD would also like to offer you another minor amount for your trouble."
"There is a reward?" Selina's eyes lit up in joy.
"Of course, Miss Isles. Paranormal Investigator is an actual profession. They aren't directly under the police department but usually cooperate with us. Some of them even went on to become a student in the Institution of Supernatural Phenomenon or an agent of the Department of Supernatural Interference.
That is also the purpose of the SCOA you have signed."
"I see. You guys are actually..."
"Much more competent than you think, right?" Alister smiled.
"No. I meant to say considerate..."
The three police officers laughed out loud.
"No need to be shy, Miss Isles." Carpenter said. She was a tall, slender woman. "We know what they said about us on the internet. Useless cops."
Selina nodded. "I have the same impressions. After all, there are so many unresolved issues around the city."
Alister let out a long breath. "They aren't wrong. There are many more NCEs than there are policemen. We try to do the best we can but we are overwhelmed to say the least.
The DSI has much more serious issues to deal with than the normal NCEs that us policemen have to face so they can't provide assistance either."
Mater meowed and approached Selina.
"There you are! Have you slept well?" Pure joy washed over Selina as she smiled from ear to ear. The girl squatted down to pet Mater and picked his fluffy body up.
Mater jumped off of her hands and climbed on her shoulder.
"Such a smart kitty." Carpenter said.
"He is!"
Alister took out a small badge in the drawer and put it on the table. It was a shiny iron badge with the ankh in the front and the initials ACPD underneath.
"Please take this badge, Miss Isles. With it, you are officially our private contractor."
Selina carefully picked up the iron badge.
