Chapter 4 - chapter four : The Fake vision

"Did people die… because of me?"

The question echoed in my head over and over, like a sound trapped inside a dark room.

I felt a heavy wall pressing on my chest. I tried to breathe deeply… but the air came out broken, slow… unsteady.

I sat on the couch in front of the TV.

My mother stood beside me, trying to understand what the news was saying.

But I couldn't understand anything except one thought:

If I had spoken that day… would my father still be alive?

I closed my eyes.

My head started to throb again…

That sharp pain—

the third time it happened today.

And then—

time slowed.

Sounds faded

The air around me became heavy

I knew this feeling well

A vision

A blurry image appeared…

A narrow street…

silhouettes of tall buildings…

A red shop sign glowing in the dark…

A woman running…

A man shouting…

A car turning the corner at high speed…

And a distant voice:

"Seven… oh five…"

The vision disappeared in an instant.

I opened my eyes wide, breathing fast.

"No… this one was different."

Clearer.

Stronger.

More real.

For the first time, I felt I had a chance.

A chance… to stop something.

A chance not to repeat the same mistake.

I whispered to myself:

"Not again. I won't let this happen again."

I grabbed my phone and called Riko immediately.

"Riko… can you come now? I need to talk to you."

He didn't ask questions.

He only said:

"I'm coming."

A few minutes later, he stood at my door, his face tense.

"Genso… what's wrong?"

I invited him in and told him everything.

Every detail—

the first vision, the explosion, the black-coat man, the new vision.

Riko listened silently, his expression slowly changing.

When I finished, he said quietly:

"Are you sure about what you saw?"

I answered without hesitation:

"I've never been more sure."

He looked at the table, then said:

"Alright… let's try to find the place you saw."

We opened Tokyo's maps and compared the vision to real streets.

"Narrow street… red sign… crowded area… a specific time…"

Then Riko pointed at the screen.

"This street in Kabukichō looks almost the same. Red signs everywhere."

I stood up instantly.

"Let's go."

He hesitated.

"Genso… are you sure you're ready for this?"

I answered firmly:

"I won't stay silent again. Not this time."

We arrived before the time shown in the vision.

The street looked exactly right.

Red sign… dim lights… the same corner…

Everything matched.

Riko looked around.

"If the vision is real, something will happen here in a few minutes."

I stared at my watch:

6:58 PM

My heartbeat was loud and fast.

6:59

People walked normally.

Light rain fell gently.

7:00

Riko whispered:

"Still nothing."

I didn't answer.

7:03

A strange feeling grew in my chest—

fear, doubt… confusion.

7:05

The exact time.

We watched…

Seconds passed…

Then minutes…

And nothing happened.

No woman running.

No car speeding.

No shouting.

Nothing like the vision.

My legs weakened beneath me.

I sat down on the cold sidewalk, putting my hand on my head.

"This… can't be… I saw it clearly…"

Riko sat beside me.

"Genso… maybe you're under too much pressure. Your mind could be mixing memories… fear… stress…"

His voice was soft, almost careful.

I whispered:

"But it felt so real…"

He placed a hand on my shoulder.

"I'm not saying you imagined everything… but maybe this time wasn't a real vision."

His words struck me deeper than I expected.

Was I wrong?

Was everything… just in my head?

I looked up at the sky.

The rain touched my face like cold pins.

And the truth escaped my lips:

"If the vision didn't happen… then what did I see?"

My chest tightened.

My thoughts spun in circles.

If the vision wasn't true… why was it so clear?

And if it was true… why didn't anything happen?

I lowered my head and whispered:

"What is happening to me…?"
