A boy in the back bounced the volleyball a few times on the gym floor. He breathed in and out. Smoke coming from his mouth, almost like he was in the cold. He tossed the ball upward and slammed his palm against it, the ball rotating through the air and shooting across the court with quick speed. It slammed right past Cynil. Maybe a second, less than that. Yoshiwara had scored over Ashina that quickly. five seconds into the game. It was 1-0 in their favor now. The Yoshiwara side of the gym screamed as they looked on, Yoshiwara celebrating. Kokkaku had looked at the ball slipped past his head, no chance at him stopping it.
"Woah! Who's that? What's your name?" Matsumi looked on in awe, like a child in a toy store or how a man looked at a woman when he met the love of his life for the first time. Only that, Matsumi's love of his life was silly games and getting into trouble.
"Raito, and it was just a serve . Not much else to it." He looked on at Matsumi with a strange look.
Joseph fixed his wrists a little, popping his neck as he got into his proper position, making sure Kasaru was placed next to himself a bit further away. "Alright, not bad, just keep a level head and we got it, alright?"
"Nice one, Raito! That's fourteen awesome points!"
"No Matsumi it's only one..We need 14 more to win." Vermelha said, placing her face in her palm out of annoyance.
"Nah they're different points!"
"What the hell is-" Shizu face palmed. "Alright. Whatever."
"Okay, I'm ready for the next one." Raito bounced the ball once more, this time delivering a very light tap to the ball. The ball floated over and headed for Ashina's side.
Kasaru remained on the sidelines of the game, he had deducted that realistically, there would be a few in front of him that had more of a likelihood to hit the line if need be, his strategy revolved around him preferring to be a last line of defense. "Just keep calm and steady, thats all we need to do." He watched the ball come over, putting his hands together in the typical hit fashion and gave it a good strike back over, letting it arch properly back over the net to the other team's side.
"Yeah, it's not exactly the hardest thing to do, just focus on the ball and we should be alright." Despite their differences, Joseph had a great intuition for teamwork in this instance.
"Huh? Hey, Raito! That one is way slower!" Matsumi's awe immediately turned into disgust and anger as soon as he saw Raito hit a floater.
"If I do the same move everytime we'll lose posession and potentially cost a point. You have to be calculated."
Tengoku got in position from the center, controlling Yoshiwara's defense was what made their team so dangerous in the first place, he bended his knees, crouching down and hitting the ball straight upwards.
Shizu moved and slammed the ball as it shot straight downwards toward Ashina's team. A perfect dynamic duo.
Joseph took a jump to catch its trajectory with his palm, hitting it back. He hadn't gone too high up, promptly landing back down with a small oomph. "It's actually pretty fun, been a while since I had to play something sporty."
Raito moved and hit the ball, this time applying a spin on it. It headed straight for Kasaru, the ball rotating at a way higher speed now.
Raiden turned and yelled out to Kasaru. "Hey Kasaru! You got it!"
Kasaru quickly crouched and slid his boots against the floor, making momentum for himself as he jumped up, hitting the ball with both hands sending it back over the net. "Ngh!" He had to catch himself from falling down, however the ball went back over. He felt momentary success.
Matsumi's red eyes locked right on target. The ball was going to float down right in front of him if it wasn't intercepted, but he was still in the middle, too far. They said they would pass to him. Should he wait for a pass? Or, should he try and hit it? Can he hit it? He can hit it. He can definitely hit it. They said just hit it, right? Just hit it. These were all thoughts that ran through Matsumi's head in that small amount of time, before he even finished thinking his body dashed forward out of his position. Instinctively, his legs sprung him up dramatically. Managing to reach the ball right at its highest point right above the net. Matsumi's leg then rose above him, as he forcefully smashed the ball right back down with the top of his foot. Shooting it down at a tight angle.
As Kasaru made his way back to the ground, he felt something stop him from actually failing his recovery, a sort of...push to keep him upright as he landed. While Kasaru was recovering, Joseph sprung forward to catch the ball that was hit back himself, taking a somewhat mighty leap forward into a dive. He let his focus go into the top of his hand, clenching it into a fist, where he began swinging it up, and caused it to collide with the ball, making it spin for a moment on top of his hand before slinging it back up and over.
"Ah! That stung a bit more than I thought it would."
"Alright Matsumi! One more time towards the back of their squad it's weak!" Shizu caught a perfect volley and sent it right toward Matsumi, the ball rotating hard. Shizu used the winds pressure as the ball spun at hypersonic speeds in the air. Perfect angle, Perfect hit. It was all for Matsumi to strike it as he so pleased.
Matsumi fell down after his strike but recovered quickly. Hearing Shizu's callout, he jumped up again, using the small momentum from his recovery to do so. Balling his hand into a fist to strike it toward their back line. Not exactly knowing how was the proper way to hit a volleyball so his first thought was essentially to punch it with the bottom of his fist, a little bit of palm also connecting.
Joseph had to quickly correct his positioning, twisting until he landed on his feet again after slowing his fall, mobing back towards Kasaru. "Hey in the back! It's heading your way."
Kasaru adjusted his positioning and went for a right swing, hitting the ball at a horizontal angle instead of vertical as it flew back to the other side of the court.
"Yuga!" Shizu had more control this time, sending the ball towards the left wing.
A black haired girl sent the ball with more force toward Ashina. She had much more technique behind it sending it towards the back.
The ball slammed into Cynil's body as she couldn't keep up with the speed or force of Yugas hit, the ball was sent outwards to the crowd. Yoshiwara had scored again. The team crowded around Yuga and lifted her celebrating her point. Cynil looked at her wrists as they were bruised from the force of the ball. It was now 2-0 in Yoshiwaras favor.
