My precious. I touch the bone dragons' hard boney skin. "I swear, these days I have no time to myself." The dragon gazes at me with its empty eye sockets. "I know right, that is exactly what I was saying. You know Boney, it will be nice to leave just the two of us. Go on some adventures like we used to."
"The two of us." Sophia walks up. "Yeah that will be nice." With the combination of the leap skill, and dash she lands on the dragon's high back. "Now Boney take us to the capital."
Does she realize there is three of us now? "Who will be here if they attack again?" I question.
"Harry can handle that alone, plus he is like almost my level already, thanks to killing so many mobs." Yeah but Harry is absolute dog water when it comes to dueling. I bet a level fifty could beat him.
Hoping onto my, may I emphasize the my, bone dragon, we fly off.
The capital changed within the span I was gone, it felt like the players really took route. Now you can find them running shops, handing out quests, and doing physical labor. The last one is just a sad reality. A lot of people are too afraid to die, so they are left working for others in the big city.
"Knight." I am met face to face with a pegasus knight. "The king has called for your summons."
Me? Why would the king need me?
Landing, we are escorted to the castle, where I am forced to bow before a mighty throne.
The king, in L&L there has been multiple kings depending on the update, each would hand out a unique and valuable quest. That is to say, I don't know the woman, who walks out with a crown strung across her head.
"Loctrace." Her voice is so strong, like a warrior monarch. "I have heard of your bravery in squashing the barbarian armies." I can't help but notice the blade on her hip, it gleams the same as her white hair. "My father also thought you a strong and capable man. As such I am willing to offer you the precision of royal knight."
So that's how it is. She didn't call me in to reward me, or give me a quest, but instead wanted me as a bodyguard. "I must apologies your majesty, but I cannot take that role."
"That's too bad." Before I could react, before the world could react, before time itself reacted, my head separates from my body, bouncing across the floor. I land before the feet of a strong looking man. He picks me up as a war trophy, that is until he saw the sword scraping past his cheek. He reacted fast, but not fast enough to have been the one to behead me. My body catches my falling head, placing it back where it belongs.
"Your Majesty, such actions are considered rude." I sheath my sword. The whole court looking at me with wide eyes.
Level 400, human, holy knight Ict.
So the man who caught my head was a holy knight. In the game holy knights were a group of seven tasked with protecting the empire. One of them is said to be the strength of an army, and his level seems about right for that. You are tasked with killing a fallen holy knight in the Not so holy quest. He is one of the hardest raid bosses in Elith, and well respected as the strongest human boss.
"You survived?" The quean raises an eyebrow. "No matter." Like a law of nature my body disintegrates.
Regrowing from ash, I am forced to quickly strap my armor over my nude body. I figured it out, why I can't see her attacks, and why I just turned to dust. She is using holy magic, and the highest level of holy magic at that, It really fucking hurts. As if my very cells are being torn apart. All undead have a weakness to holy, and I am no exception.
"Can you stop doing that, it is getting annoying." I complain.
Luckily Sophia was forced to stay out front, or she would be dead right now. Hell I am only alive because I saw fit to rid myself of that weakness. I look at my fingers, all nine of them have a ring of holy negation, they are drops from the Not so holy quest. Any more damage than I am currently taking, and I would no longer be able to regenerate, but they don't need to know that. For now it is best if they think I am invincible. Like some kind of knock off superhero who breaks the fourth wall. In truth, my body just resembles invincibility. I am draining mana like mad, and when I run out, so will my regeneration.
"Am I doing something wrong?" She glances at the pope, but he just shakes his head.
"I told you not to mess with Loctrace, it is something all the kings end up regretting." The pope is old, old, like maybe a hundred fifty, or something like that. You can see it in his shriveled face, and wise eyes.
"I didn't come to the capital to play games." I crack my neck.
It was at this moment that Ict's blade slices my head in two, straight down the middle, rather impressive if you ask me. Like he didn't even miss by a centimeter. Still my head pushes his sword out, forming a new.
"He's a monster, your majesty, let me lock him in a cell." Ict's voice is stronger than any I have heard.
"No, it's fine." The quean sits on her throne. "I no longer care."
Great, I would hate to be in a prison break quest. "If that is all, I shall take my leave." That's right, I just have to play it cool.
I take a step, just for my knees to give out form under me, and face plant the floor. It wasn't so much that my knees gave out, but the fact I no longer have knees, or legs for that matter.
"Apologies, and then you may leave." Apologies? You're the one attacking me?
I watch my legs regrow. "I apologize, full heartedly."
"Fine." She waves her hand. "You may leave."
Snacking on a mana potion, I kick the ground.
"You're that mad?" Sophia questions.
"Damn right. I nearly died." I throw the bottle into the grass, watching it tumble down the hill.
Sophia picks it up, shoving it into her inventory. "Littering is a crime."
I plop down. "Why aren't you mad?"
"Because I knew you wouldn't die." She sits down next to me. "You never do."
That would be romantic, if I wasn't an unkillable tank. "Well we are here, shall we do Romantics Haven."
Romantics Haven, a level forty dungeon, with no good drops, no high level enemies, and nothing redeeming whatsoever. That is except if you bring a male and a female character, then you unlock a secret event.
She blushes. "Let's."
