Hayes shook his body beneath the spiderweb, sending a spray of water flying. Several droplets splashed onto Albert's side.
The cat's fur instantly fluffed up, as if an electric current had run through it—damp hairs standing on end.
Out of habit, Hayes licked his paw, then lowered his head and said to Albert beside him, "Should we change places?"
Albert focused his mind, carefully sensing his surroundings.
His brain-domain evolutionary ability had only just awakened and was still in its early exploratory stage. It wasn't refined yet and required deliberate concentration.
But once he entered the right state, he could faintly perceive biological signals nearby.
Much like when he had first driven those juvenile king spiders, his mind felt like a natural canvas, giving him a rough spatial awareness of the surrounding environment and directions.
The mutants appeared as patches of color, vaguely occupying different positions on that mental backdrop.
