CHAPTER-
Today, teacher Nami took us to a nearby river, she believed that we weren't weak or experienced, we just haven't achieved our type.
"As you all know, type is almost like your true power. It's important to know your type before progressing to the next stage." She placed her hand on her hip. "I think it's quite obvious why we're near a river," she pointed to some dummies.
"Types are the type of magic you specialise in, for example, anyone can do simple ice and water magic, however people you specialise in ice magic can then make equipment and weapons and more. Today, you all will try to figure out your power. Don't rush it"
"Those will be your training toys, you'll experiment with different types of water magic with these dummies until you find one."
"Miss! If you're so strong, why don't you show your magic!" a boy cocked.
"Anyway, I understand every power is used for different uses, for example water can be used for healing, support defense and offense." She walked to one of the dummies. "That's why they're dummies filled with water, basically they're shaped like humans but 100% water."
She gently shook the dummy, showing how jiggly they are.
"Now, I'll give an example" she said looking at one of the dummy, without chanting she pinched herself enough to bleed before channeling the drops of blood sharply through the dummy.
A sharp round quickly travelled through the dummy before water slowly started pouring out.
"See? Water!" she smiled.
"Tch- " the boy glared "her power isn't that bad"
"You all may start, people who have supported magic I'll be helping." Nami said.
"I'll go with Nami, since my power is tracking I'll need her help, take care" Kento waved.
"Me too!" Kyomi skipped happily away.
I didn't mind them leaving, the training I did was similar before the tournament anyway. As always no magic worked, support, defense offense tracking or different kinds of healing.
I sighed. "I guess I'm alone again"
"Aww is this poor little girl struggling?" the boy from earlier spoke again, his long mullet ginger hair bounced against his shoulders.
"I'm not struggling" I spoke confidently, trying to imitate Thalia.
"Yeah sure." he smiled.
"You know, I saw you fight at the tournament, I want to" he stretched his arm. "Try to see if you're worth being here at all" he smirked
"Water magic: Don't lie, we all saw that glow, you have a fighting spirit" he casted.
"What? No? I'm not experienced yet, I can barely defend myself "I breathed out. "If he attacks me now they'll see how weak I am, this can't happen, what do I do? " I thought
"Water…" he spoke. His chatting felt like slow motion, if he attacks I'll get hurt. No…
"Blast!" he commanded.
"No!" I also stretched out my arms, I closed my eyes tightly, waiting to be splashed with his force.
"What the?" he spoke.
"W- what's happening!?" his minions spoke.
"Are you okay? Just hit her!" another minion said.
"I can't… my hand is stuck…" he cried. "Teacher Nami!"
Without a second thought, Teacher Nami rushed to the scene, her arms were covered in scars, probably to perfect or find people's healing type.
"What is happening!?-" she paused. "Oh my gosh" she gasped.
"I'm sorry! I can't, I don't know how to-" I panicked.
"It's okay" she soothed. "Just take deep breaths, nice and calm"
I followed her instructions, trying desperately to calm myself down. I didn't know how to, I felt so disgusting, is this my power? It's gross.
With one final breath I calmed down. The guy's arm slowly retracted down, finally gaining control over it.
I heard them calling me a freak before running off.
I just felt so dirty. Why would anyone want power like this?
I covered my mouth turning around before letting it out.
I could feel Nami's sympathetic expression behind me. She gently caressed my back.
"Don't worry, your power is unique, everybody's power is unique in it's own way" she placed her hand on her shoulder.
"Honestly, your power is similar to mine. I can control my blood, but you can control people with their blood… I also felt something similar when I awakened my type, but it's good to remember, you can do great things with this power." She stood up.
"Okay everyone, we will continue this later on, time to reflect!" she authorised, then looked at me again.
"Let's get you to the infirmary to clean you up." she said softly.
—-------------------
Teacher Nami brought me to the infirmary. I watched as she explained the middle aged nurse.
She hummed. "There's no injury so I don't know how to help you, but I will advise you to familiarize yourself with your power, slowly but carefully, it was your first time achieving this power so everything came at once." She handed me some cabbage soup. "Take things slow," she smiled.
I just nodded, then held the soup on my lap. I could see the reflection of myself in the water,
"You can go to your room and rest?" Nami suggested.
"No…thanks I'll stay, I'm feeling better" I replied.
"I'll leave you two, I have other students to help" she stretched before walking away. Teacher Nami followed the nurse, and I watched as they discussed something.
Was it about me?
"I have to go, you know I'm still a teacher, you can come with me if you want?" Nami said.
I just followed along.
The nurse came back thinking her soup would've been empty, or eaten a little, however it was untouched, and cold.
The road to the class, it was painfully quiet, Nami didn't speak, she must've thought I needed my peace.
She opened the door. "Okay everyone! Back to your seats! We need to reflect." She clapped her hands.
"Oh they're back," a student muttered.
"Just avoid her everyone, I'm sure no one wants to be controlled" another student whispered.
"Okay? Hopefully most of the class has found their type. If you haven't, that's okay, you aren't behind."
"Now , it's important you feel close to this power you have awakened. Once you have, you can move to the next part which is strengthening your core. From today and for the next 2-4 weeks, we will be trying to strengthen your core to an average fighter." she walked around the class
"Of course, if you want to strengthen your core, you'll need to face your weaknesses bit by bit." She walked towards the board. "So we'll be pairing up with the earth magic class"
"Why them?" a student said.
"We all know a water user's biggest weakness is earth, especially steel magic, I'll be teaching you not to fully show it when battling an opponent" she wrote on the board.
"Whatt?" the class said.
"Hey are you okay?" Kento said.
"Yeah!? We were so worried!" Kyomi shrieked.
"Be careful you two, don't get too close to her, or she'll control you" a boy muttered.
"People are so odd," Kento said.
"Nope! Nerina hasn't hurt anyone, I can talk to anyone I want!" Kyomi said
For a second, I had a flashback to Thalia defending me.
"I'm fine guys, I just felt a bit ill " I replied
"That's good, your power is really cool, blood control is it?" Kento continued.
"I guess. " I muttered.
"Yeah it's so cool! You'll be really strong!" Kyomi praised.
"Kento, Kyomi," Nami scolded. "Anyway, this will start after the break is over, everyone's dismissed.
The class moved out
—---------------------------------
I met up with thalia and Ravi, it felt nice seeing them again, it was my favourite part of the day.
"Nerina! Let's go get breakfast!!" Thalia skipped happily.
Yawns "how do you have energy in the morning?" Ravi trailed along.
"You know today, most people in my class had to find their type." she continued. "Oh great god! You too right!?" her eyes sparkled.
"Oh yeah, I also did something similar. But I already know what my type was, it's plant magic" Ravi said.
"That's still pretty impressive though, my teacher said me having magic is no problem since I have enough strength. I can go for support or attack! What is yours Rina!?" Thalia asked again. Taking some miso soup.
"Yeah what's yours? Did you unlock it?" Ravi asked while picking up some dosa.
"Me?" I jumped slightly. "Yeah I unlocked… it's ice.." my voice broke " Ice magic" I said
"Impressive!!" Thalia glowed. "I wish I had magic guys. " she pouted slightly.
"Magic or not, you're pretty strong," Ravi said.
"You aren't taking anything?" Thalia looked at me.
"No… I had some soup earlier, so I'm not hungry." I replied.
"If you say so!" thalia said before starting to eat.
"Soup? Isn't that too light?" Ravi asked "Can I lend you some of my Dosa?"
"No seriously, I had too much, I'm stuffed." I rubbed my belly.
"That's good," he said while also eating.
"I can't wait for us to see each other next lesson!" thalia announced. "It's going to be so fun!"
"I'm excited to test each other and stuff, it's really fun." Ravi added.
