Chapter 19 - I am your Alpha

ISOBEL

I walked out of the dance floor, and I could still feel my heart pounding as I looked around the room again. Mason was really not there.

A part of me told me to ignore it and truly enjoy myself for the first time in a long while. It really wasn't my problem if he wanted to cry in a dark corner, then he should, but another part of me, the part that I didn't want to show off, felt really uneasy.

Why did he leave so suddenly, and where was he?

I took a deep breath and walked towards the side of the room while I still tried to compose myself. I didn't want to look out of place especially as everyone around me was having fun, and although Mason was obviously an important figure, they looked unbothered that he was nowhere to be found. I guess I was just overreacting.

But just as I was about to turn around and leave, I saw a small group of women walked in, and for some reason, it made me frown.

They were beautiful, and they had cloaks that covered them from their head down to their feets, leaving on their face visible. They all looked meek and humble but their eyes were very sharp as they looked around the room and I realized that they were there for a reason.

"The real fun is about to begin," someone muttered beside me and I froze. I couldn't understand exactly what was going on.

"Alright, everyone," Alpha Francis suddenly took the stage and called out. "The party is over."

In that moment, I felt so relieved that I couldn't help but sigh out in relief. Finelly, I'd could go back, shut the door, and clear my head. I was already turning to leave when his voice sounded again.

"And now," he continued, "we party." I stopped, and I listened to what else he had to say.

"Ladies, please excuse us." I heard him say and I frowned. Excuse us? What was that supposed to mean?

I turned my head, and expected to see the same confusion on the faces of the other women but no one looked surprised. They simply nodded, smiled, and started walking towards the door like this was normal and they were used to it.

I hesitated for a second before I followed them but I couldn't stop my heart was racing. Something about this didn't feel right. The way the men stood straighter like they were expecting something and the way Alpha Francis sat down, looking relaxed, like he had been waiting for this moment all night. It all looked very suspicious.

I got to the door, and I was still trying to understand what was going on but just as I was about to walk out, I saw Mason.

He was coming back inside, and he had his usual blank expression on his face, and he tucked his hands into his pockets like he didn't just disappear.

Without thinking, I walked to stand in front of him. "Where have you been?"

He barely even looked at me. "I went to get some air." He replied emotionlessly.

I sighed deeply. I didn't know why I felt so relieved as I saw him, but I was. It wasn't like I was excited to share a room with him or anything like that, I just wanted us to leave especially as Alpha Francis said what he said, "Good. Then let's go back." I said.

He finally looked up to look into my eyes and for some reason, the look in his eyes didn't sit right with me.

"No." He suddenly said.

I frowned and repeated to be sure I heard him well. "No?"

He frowned and clenched his jaw. "Didn't you hear Alpha Francis?" He pointed his chin toward the room. "The ladies should leave, and you should do as he said."

"Why should I do as he said? He's not my Alpha!" I suddenly got so defensive and I couldn't understand why.

"But I am your Alpha," he said in a low voice, "Now leave!"

I opened my mouth to argue with him but no words came out and I closed it. What?

That didn't make any sense. Why was he acting like this? What was going on? I opened my mouth to try again. "Mason, what—"

But before I could finish, he pushed past me and walked inside, completely ignoring me. I stood there, feeling like a complete fool and with no choice left, I walked out.

But surprisingly, the moment I stepped out of the hall, I saw all the women who had left and they were crowding a small window, to have a look of what was going on inside.

I sighed as I was definitely not in the mood for entertainment. If Alpha Francis didn't want us there, then I wouldn't be here.

I turned around and headed straight to the room where I freshened up and got ready for bed. I laid on the bed, and although Mason had treated me like trash, I was happy that I didn't have to share a room with him, so I closed my eyes, and stretched my legs, ready to sleep.

But I couldn't. I tossed and turned, unable to sleep as my mind wasn't at ease. What was going on in the party that Alpha Francis had asked us to leave?

I tried to ignore it but curiosity got the better of me and I jumped out of bed, grabbed a robe and headed out.

As expected, some women were still by the window and curiously, I squeezed my way in to have a look, and what I saw wasn't anything like I had expected.

Inside the room, the lights were a bit dim and the women who wore cloaks had taken them off and they were left with lingeries in which they danced around with.

Alpha Francis laughed loudly and pointed at two women, "This is my pick for the night," and almost immediately, the women came to sit by his side, then he turned to Mason who had a blank expression on his face, "Won't you make a choice?"
