Wanting to secure proper food and shelter was only some of his reasons. There was also the system as well.
Alto stumbled across a large boar, a very large boar. Hiding, he observed the gargantuan thing. It had to be three meters tall.
'How am I supposed to kill that thing?'
It's simply really, he couldn't. He was practically a normal human.
Not daring to make a move, Alto watched it leave. After that he decided to retrace his steps. It has been a while since the last world shift. Walking through the large woods, a single lone human walked. He replaced his old clothing with the white garments that he brought. He worried about the red shirt sticking out too much.
The world began to tilt once more. Speeding up, Alto moved to the nearest cave.
Suddenly something moved in the corner of his eye. Swiftly turning his head, he was surprised by a large worm leaping at him.
Not having enough time to dodge its attack, he moved the sword up to block it. By all means, he had no idea how to use a sword. Though, just having a weapon can make almost any human more deadly.
The worm hit the blade of the sword. Luckily this one was much smaller than the one he previously stumbled upon. It was maybe half the width of the sword's hilt. Even with that size, it sent Alto flying back into a tree.
'What just happened?'
Alto quickly tried to catch his breath. His whole body was hurting, especially his back.
Looking up, he saw the worm flying towards him.
Quickly gathering himself, he rolled out of the way. The worm went face first into the tree. The bark didn't give an inch. It was stuck there for maybe two seconds. Before it started to fall, several of its little teeth seemed to have broken off.
Using this to his advantage, Alto quickly raised the sword above his head while kneeling. Then brought it down on the creature's mid section.
It didn't cut through the worm. Instead it forced it to the ground faster. After it hit the ground, the tip of the sword made the mid section of the worm flatten. Then it was cut in half.

The world continued to shift. Alto could barely move, the strike he took was a lot.
'This! This is how I'm going to die!'
Alto slowly crawled to the nearest cave. Luckily the world was shifting making the cave diagonally down from him.
"No! I'm going back!"
Climbing on top of a large trunk, Alto continued moving forward. Trying to reach one of the large branches. Luckily the world continued turning. Making the tree branch more or less flat.
The lowest branch wasn't far away. He slowly climbed on it. As the world continued moving, he would move with it on the massive branch. Eventually, it stopped while upside down.
'What was that!'
Realizing that he far overestimated his own abilities and almost died because of it, Alto stares at the ground above him.
"A baby! A… baby?"
Thinking about what the system said, he checked his stats.
{Level 2: 4/108}
{Stats}
{Strength: 7}
{Speed: 12}
{Intelligence: 20}
{Durability: 1}
{Stamina: 6}
{Charisma: 0}
{Abilities: None}
{Attributes: None}
'It barely went up. Wait, are these stats bad! I got thrown by a baby!'
The level system is new, and so is the durability stat, but the rest barely changed at all. The only reason he even defeated the baby was due to it hitting the massive tree.
Alto didn't even want to think about what would have happened if he met an adult. Or the thing that killed that adult.
'Why wasn't the durability stat there before? Shouldn't it have been 0 like the charisma stat?'
The system did announce gaining a new stat. Maybe he started with some sort of basic set then gains new ones as he levels up. He should have been at least a little durable before fighting the worm though? So how does that work?
'Wait? Is my charisma so bad that I was given it for free, and it still says zero?'
After a few hours Alto felt better. He tried looking for the small worm. However, it must have fallen into the ocean. With no magic crystal he would only have a single night left in the hotel. He was planning to just sleep in some random cave. However, knowing what he knows now he is hesitant to do so.
The monsters have to survive the shifts the same as he does. If he couldn't survive a baby worm then what would happen when he faces a beast in a confined small room. In fact, he has been pretty lucky thus far. To only fight a single one.
Eventually, Alto returned to his small room. His white gown was dirty and he was limping as he traversed the town.
Hia waved to him with a surprised face, she had long silver hair. Alto waved back before entering his room.
The first thing he did was grab his fire book.
