Alto recognized a couple of them however, it was no one that he personally knew. They must have come to exact revenge for their elder's death. They readied their weapons.
'Two Spears, Two swords, two short swords, a bow, and a weird cage at the end of a rope?'
Alto didn't stand a chance. He doubted he could even defeat one of them. All these people were born on this island after all. They were used to hunting beasts that Alto couldn't even face. Alto backed up, then looked down the colossal cliff.
"What luck."
Alto dropped a few crystals he was holding. He pulled out a sword from a box that nobody else could see. To them it must have been like a magic trick.
These people were not going to underestimate him. Like that bastard prince did. After all, he had killed him.
"Did you really think that you could escape?"
'Must have had someone capable of tracking. I should have thought as much.'
The fact that they were a large party and the world shifted made it possible for Alto to make it this far. Though, this was the end of the line.
In a careless tone, Alto answered them.
"Not really."
"You will die for what you have done!"
"Ready yourselves. He's strong."
'Oh if only you knew.'
Doing all this try to kill someone who could barely kill an adolescent flea. Either way, Alto was out of options.
"Well then! Let's see how well you do! Your strongest warrior? Yeah I killed him. I drew something on the ground, then kablam! He's dead. Your elder? His body burned due to my flames. I can move mountains, I can consume the sun if I so wished. The only reason any of you are even alive was because I didn't see a need in killing you. I could eradicate your whole village with a snap of my finger if I so desired!"
It was a bluff. The soldiers' faces grew pale as they stared at the young man. His arms were spread out wide as he talked. He was staring at the clouds. Then he looked down.
A look of awe rested on Alto's face. There was a large glowing red light near one of the soldiers.
'You have got to be-'
"He's lying! Attack!"
"Wait, those murders weren't me!"
The red light disappeared. The soldiers stopped in place for a second.
"He can trick the stone! Attack!"
A spear was aimed straight at Alto's chest. He blocked it with his sword. Though, the force was too much. It sent him flying. Right over the edge. The wind grew loud. As Alto stared at the sky.
"Of course, I'm just that small, I'm just that weak."
Alto was only a little surprised from what he saw. A giant turtle, flying in the sky. It was the same island he had spent all of his time on.
The wind began to grow louder, as Alto continued to stare at the massive thing. The remaining dye in his hair began to fall out. Creating an illusion of white sparks near his head.
As he fell, his smile grew bigger and bigger. He began to reach out to the colossal island with one of his hands. The wind was cold.
"Someday, I'll be stronger than you big guy. I'll become so strong, that I break through reality, just to get home."
The wind continued blowing. The sun began to set.
Alto turned his head a little to watch, the bright orange and red colors filled the sky with light. It was breathtaking, probably because he couldn't breathe properly.
"You hear me! One day! Mark my words. Once I have a goal I complete it!"
Then Alto began to laugh. The sunset began to fall on the vast ocean. Soon the sun was halfway consumed by it.
Alto looked behind him as well, to the vast expanse of— wait no? There was a beach. There was land.
The bad news is that the fall would most likely kill him. At a certain height, water becomes similar to cement.
"So close and yet so far."
Alto imagined himself with wings, being able to fly to that land. Sadly he did not have wings, and he could not fly.
"Just my luck, spawned on some random turtle that flips upside down for whatever reason, have to face monsters that could kill me if I make a single mistake, get framed for murders I didn't commit, have one of the few friends I made die, then face the strongest man in a town full of monsters because he wanted to lay siege to some random town. Then get launched off the edge of the turtle! By the people who I helped! Falling to my death… at least the sun's pretty."
Alto continued falling. He was close enough to see the waves now.
They only grew closer, Alto was mere feet away from them.
